My friend has a 1985 528e. I found it to be really underpowered. Other than that it's a fine car. Good seating and the engine is very reliable. If it was me though, I'd buy an e30 (if you want fun over space) or an e36 (if you really need the space).

It's 1500 for 100k miles with no real issues. Think I'll go check it out

the e stands for economy. they are dogs. it's the same engine as the e30 (m20)

all you do is take the i head off an e30 m20 and put it on the e block of the e28.

Yeah, but the e30 is also lighter which helps a lot in the "feeling faster" department. Also the 2.5 m20 was rated between 160 and 170 hp depending on the year, but the 2.7 was only rated between 120-130 hp.
I didn't know that you could just switch the heads between them though. Should try that out as my other friend has 8 e30s with 4 parts cars.

yeah but they are strokers so they are faster than the i once you swap everything else from the i over to the eta block

eta are absolute poop but they get really good mpg so good for daily driving
