Is a 1995 Ford Probe GT any good?
What about a 1992 240sx or 1991 mazda 323 klde

Speaking of those, are the 2.0 Imprezas good? Any specific things to look out for? There's quite a few wagons in my area.

No more than any other car, unless you get hektik.

what about roll caged
>>
>>14025693
A proper cage should add some chassis stiffness as well as rollover protection. It looks pretty dumb to drive a rollcaged vert on the road though.

Is this a general car buying question thread?
I got a question
How is a 1995 BMW 318is? Are they decent tuner cars?
The only cheap RWD cars I can really find are old BMWs, or older japanese cars that have molested.
is the 318is hard to repair if something goes bad?
reliable?
>>
>>14025762
It's a BMW, so parts are overpriced as fuck. Also the BMW i4 engines aren't that great from what I've heard, you want something with at least 6 cylinders.
>>
>>14025843
man it's the best RWD car i can find too unless i want to take a step down in condition or buy something without a roof that isnt a miata

318is is fine, old BMW parts are not that overpriced and there are plenty of 3rd party options for most parts.

the m42 is slow. and mine broke.

source: e30 318is.
>>
>>14025967
But his is an E36 not an E30.

Aww broken e30 makes me sad

that isn't stanced but it sure as hell isn't stock. you can't even fit a shoe in that wheel gap!

is it still worth buying/ would it hurt the car's performance and reliability

>E39
>E46
>E36

All of these are forgiving to learn manual on and are a good introduction to doing basic to intermediate car maintenance. Parts will be slightly more expensive (10-15%) but the interiors will be much better, the exteriors will be much better, and people will turn and stare at your car.
japanese
>miata
>civic
>celica
less forgiving to learn on, also easy to work on, car is overall much simpler so will require slightly less maintenance + you can get newer car and lower miles for cheaper than a BMW
If you wanna dive right in get something from the top list but otherwise take babby steps and get something from the bottom list.
>>
>>14026267
what about s13
>>
>>14026278
The mechanicals are all good but the interior is cheap shit and pretty much all of them have something that's falling apart on the inside.
>>
>>14026306
i dont give a shit about interior though
>>
>>14026312
If you don't care about the interior definitely go Japanese. You'll save yourself some money by subjecting yourself to ugly uncomfortable plastic torture.
>>
>>14025354
when did /o/'s baits become this bad?

>>14026321
It's not as bad as the hating BMW meme.
>>
>>14026326
>stop disliking what I like
>>
>>14026348
I don't have a problem with people not liking what I like. I like old mercs but I understand people don't like them because they're unreliable as shit.
People on this board act like owning a BMW is going to cost you thousands of dollars a year and the parts are marked up 300% when really they require no more maintenance than any other car except for 90's jap shitboxes and the parts cost is negligible. It's irrational to hate them on a purely emotional level like that.

>>14026419

While I think the e30 is the pinnacle of aesthetics, the E46 and E39 are still close.
>>
>>14024344
Where did you last have it?
>>
2nd gen Integra or S13 with no roof ?
>>
>>14026419
Like any psuedo-luxury brand, you're always going to be paying more for maintenance. Especially if its newer.

How much more maintenance will be is always going to be specific to that car and its owner, but on average it will be more than other, cheaper brands.

In that sense its not a meme. However, like all memes, the bmw-meme uses hyperbole to make its point. So I agree with your point.

You're probably not going to spend a bi-yearly thousand dollars on maintenance for a bmw. But I imagine it will be some number greater than average, and that's where the meme's base of argument is.
>>
>>14026708
But still, even if it is above average, the difference in maintenance costs between a BMW from a good series and a regular car is about the sum of a single paycheck from a part time job at McDonald's. That's insignificant enough to not even bring it up honestly.
>>
>>14026881
some people dont work at mcdonalds
>>
>>14026891
Are you saying that people work places that are less than a McDonald's would pay?
>>

This and in addition to this we need required features.

I wouldn't buy it. I'd go for something much more...stock.. I can just feel that there's a bunch of problems with that car.

I'm now interested in buying an e46. How much should i expect to pay for one with about 100-140k miles. And are there any models i should avoid or prefer?
>>
>>14030192
6 for a really nice car, 4 for an average one. You should prefer 6 cylinder cars. Low mileage, well maintained. Drive it and do a PPI. Later year of manufacture is a plus as well.
