I recently lent my kid brother my truck to get to his new job until he has the cash to get a car of his own. A couple days ago he told me that pic related happened to the truck. We've done the estimate and he's agreed to pay for most of the damages (with a token amount from me because of his future car because I want him out of my truck asap and because he's my brother)

My question is how did this happen? There's a few days window that this could have happened and he swears nothing happened to it while he was in it, so it probably happened at his job or while doing errands/christmas shopping/etc. I'm not so sure. I mainly want to know for future reference. I may want to ask him again later to see him sweat.

Are there any anons with experience in body work that has seen this sort of thing, and maybe has heard the typical stories on how this sort of damage happened?

That's the last of the pictures I'd taken. There's quite a few work vans and other pickups where he works so I guess it's possible. It just seems really convenient.

Fuck of faggot.
>>
either someone scraped it and drove off or your brother is a shit driver lazy cunt
>>
A) He tried to turn around a painted white parking barrier or a light pole and cut it short
B) Someone in a white car hit it while backing out of a spot.

You're never really going to find out anyway. To me it looks more like the front of a truck or van swiping it as it backed out of a spot, but who knows.
>>
>>14022800
Yeah, in the end I guess trying to imagine the scenario and place blame does me no good. He's already paying for most of it anyways so I guess I'm getting off better than a lot of guys.
>>
>>14022759
Nice try, you're not mightyBenz, not the same trip code as the vin thread faggot
>>
The only way I think he could have done it if he wasn't used to driving a truck and tried to whip it around some kind or white cement parking barrier, parking lot light, something of that sort. And didn't realize that the truck was so long.
>>
It's too high to be caused by the bumper of most cars. Only a truck 6" higher or more than yours could cause that.. Or he turned into some kind of barrier.
>>
>>14023135
Not really, that's bumper height for a similar stock truck.
>>
>>14023159
On that truck the top of the bumper is even with the bodyline. Also the front of the truck angles down good 2". The scuffs here are minimum 4" above that bodyline so about 6" higher than the top of his bumper.

The damage is too high up on the body to be done by anything but another truck. Considering your brother sounds like a new driver Id say theres a 99% chance he took a corner too tight and scraped against a pole or wall.

The damage also extends too far along the length of the body for me to believe je got hit while parked. If someone hit him while parked they would have noticed on contact and there would likley only be a dent and not a scrape along the length of the car.
>>
He did this himself, no automotive paint would transfer that much. It's clearly a house/building type paint. Go try and cut thru it with your fingernail, if it's soft enough for you to mark it definitely won't be car paint
>>
>>14023255
Possibly true on the first part, but not on the second. You can remove most of car to car paint transfer with your fingernail.
>>
How much would that kind of damage even cost to fix?
>>
>>14023385
1-2k
>>
>>14022727
Considering how the truck is parked in the picture taken, I'd say little bro took a corner too tight and crunched it.
>>
Looks a lot like he scraped against some painted object. I did the same thing when I was 16.
>>
Sounding like he probably did it I suppose.

>>14023271
It can be picked away with my nail.

>>14023420
For what it's worth, that was me that parked and took the pictures.
>>
>>14022759
imposter
>>
>>14022759
I apologize for whatever wrong I must have done you in the past

Like the others; looks like it has hit a rougher wall or similar, judging by the scrapemarks. Look around his workplace and stores he may have visited and see if anything looks like it matches
