If everyone stops making gasoline cars at an earlier date but existing gasoline cars are still allowed on the road, then I'd be happy. Most newer cars don't really appeal to me, and if I was going to buy a new car it would definitely be electric.

If anything, gasoline powered cars will only benefit from this transition by directing to the people who enjoy them rather than because they are necessary. Well a huge part of the reason it's so popular in Norway is because of taxes. When a Tesla is literally cheaper than a conventional luxury car, you'd be stupid not to go with one. Cars in Norway have like a 50 or 80% tax or something insane like that. They waive that, and allow you to drive in carpool/bus lanes, and waive a bunch of other registration fees.

Add on a really good traction control system on an AWD vehicle in an icy hellhole and it's not hard to see why the car is selling.
