Chevy Lumina. If you know where to look it's got lots of aftermarket support thanks to its sister cars.
They made over a million of them so they're everywhere and cheap.
They're bulletprood reliable.
It's even got a complicated IRS so if you want, you can make them handle great.
granted it will always look like a bland grandma car and have shit a shit interior, but that's part of the appeal.
>odd fact, the Chevrolet Lumina and 1996+ Ford Taurus were among the safest cars of the 1990's
>>14015222
that's because you are looking at cars that poor young people want and the ones you can afford need a lot of shit to fix.
look for a car in your price range that is "outside" the box. like a 3g prelud or honda civic wagon or 7th gen celica
>>14015184
Yes to both.
What's the issue with the S13?
Maaaaassive aftermarket of parts for those.
>>14015272
All of those are shit aside from lude and that us rare as fuck here
The VW isn't even a bit ricer thing
The ad says it runs and drives... and then says it's a good project car
>>14015295
All of them are discarded overpriced drift missles or m/t swapped verts
>>14015299
>good project car
that translates to shit is always and constantly broken and you will need to wrench regularly.

Things were decently reliable before the mk4 Golf and B5 Passat. That's where electrical issues and weird design decisions became a big problem.
They're fairly easy to work on though, definitely not as bad as certain French cars of the time.

So a mk2 Golf/Jetta, then? Those are pretty good from what I've heard. Watch out for rust though.

It's reliable enough. Pic related, my 240,000 mile mk2 Scirocco 16v.
Things just cost a little more and sometimes require extra time due to overengineering/complexity. My late 90s audi actually is easier to do more things than it was in my 90s accord.

It's beyond annoying.
If you haven't been on /o/ long, Takumi and Shingo are characters from the anime "Initial D", which is about a teen named Takumi who delivers tofu for his father's business in a Toyota Corolla Shitbox and manages to beat everything while racing because Corolla.
