How fast are they
Are they a good daily driver
Are they fun
Do you like them
Not fast enough
They're fine
If you turn the traction control off and have a blast with that LSD.
I don't like this body style, but it's a step up for interior from the SN-95 and New Edge. Albeit, not as comfy.

Are you talking specifically about the Bullitt or just '05-'09 GTs in general?
They run 13s stock, can hit 12s easily with bolt-ons, tune and gears. They're a decent DD, interior quality isn't up to par with the '10+. Yes, they are fun. Yes I like them, I almost bought one.
For the price I got mine for, it's hard to beat. Picked up my 06 for 9k with 74000 on it. No problems, came with a ROUSH axle back on it that makes people think I have straight pipes. People really are surprised when there German master race machine gets beat by my American shit box. People always ask what I have in it but it's bone stock. Great little car and couldn't be happier. Next plan is a turbo and some cams.
If you like banging men from the back at your local gay bar, maybe just maybe you should get a Mustang.
If you want a fast daily get a Catfish.

They are one of the best enthusiast platforms under $10k
Reliable, easy to modify, cheap to repair etc.
I see it as more of a learning platform than anything, it's really easy to work on yourself and it will develop your skills as a driver if you're into auto-x/road racing.
Sure you won't be competitive at the start, your car will never outperform an Evo or S2000 around a road course but you will be a fast driver after learning car control in a RWD V8 boat.
If you do choose to stay with the S197 platform you can build it into just about anything, but if you choose to move on the skills you learned from wrenching and as a driver will help with whatever car you move onto next.
dumping S197 pics
how much would a clean S197 go for? What's a reasonable price?
SN-95/New Edge

S197 modding

around $10k for a 05-06 GT is fairly reasonable, obviously varies with mileage, location etc

Both SN95 and S197 platforms have huge aftermarkets.
The SN95 can be had for less but bear in mind shares the same noodle chassis problems that date back to the Ford Fairmont
The S197 is an extremely stiff unibody chassis
So depending on what you want to build pick your poison. Want to go fast straight? Save the money and get the SN95, dump the money you saved into go-fast parts. Want to turn? S197 is a better platform. This does not mean the SN95 cannot be made into a corner carver, it's just that the S197 is a better platform to start with.

To be fair subframe connectors for the SN95 are fairly cheap, and if you want to save some weight and don't mind doing work on the car, a notchback foxbody with subframe connectors and suspension parts stolen off of a wrecked SN95 is a contender as well.
>>14010576
valid point, and I have seen many SN95's and foxbody's tear ass around a road course.
I actually have a buddy with a 400hp naturally aspirated foxbody convertible that keeps up with 600hp evo's around the road course. He's also an amazing driver but that's another story.
That's a chick car

the ladies don't mind it at all friend ;)

I'm just messing with him, you kids take things too seriously!
Sounding better and better.
So for only 300hp it's putting down decent numbers compared to the newer 5.0?
How is that possible???? It's 300hp! And it's going to 60 in 5 seconds?
I'll be picking one up. Why would Nissan guys even bother looking at 240sxs or s15s.
>>14010636
The Nissan guys just like the way they look and their lighter weight I guess. 300hp for 0-60 in 5 seconds is about right, nothing magic about it. Although the 5.0s do really blow them away.
>>14010636
It's not putting that to the wheels.
>>14010636
a lot of japanese tuner cars are bought for their potential, but that potential is rarely actualized.
Kids see videos of RB-swap this and 2JZ that and are convinced that if they buy an overpriced 20 year old datsun they'll be smoking ferraris.
not hating, I actually love some 90's tuner platforms. but for the money, it's hard to justify especially since the prices of those cars are only going up and clean examples are few and far between.
>>14010644
you're absolutely right, the new 5.0 is an incredible motor and the newer mustangs are exceptionally good value!
However, in the used market a 3v can be found for almost half the price of a used 5.0. I think that's a pretty decent bargain, 75% of the performance for 50% of the price! As long as you don't go dumping money into power adders, or you might as well have bought a 5.0 to begin with.
Will these ever be cheap?
>>14010680
Lots of Boomers bought them and now hold onto them and try to sell them for a good amount of money.
>>14010680
They are starting to come down in price.
