Ford manages to cheapen/fuck up everything. Even when the Focus and Mazda3 were using 60% of the same shit, the Mazda3 was still way more reliable and handled better. Same thing has happened with previous Mazda/Ford vehicles too. The old Ford Fiestas were basically a rebadged Mazda 121, yet the 121 is significantly more reliable. No one can even figure out why, because hardly anything was changed. I guess Ford owners are just fucking stupid and abuse their vehicles.

It makes sense, eCVTs are bulletproof, and the engine is off half the time. If they are really smart they can also program it to go easy on the ICE after startup when its still cold.
