But is there really any point in it? i mean, if i push 400 hp and 400 lb ft of tq I'm pretty much going to outpace any non-performance built car in my area that's not in a whole nother price range/weight class.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is if I put a turbo and new bov on it would it be worth it? I love the sound of custom bovs (psssssh) but am hesitant to sink money into doing it if I'm not getting any real net gain.

Don't turbo it. Turbos are fucking amazing, especially on LS motors. But, I'd say the time investment isn't worth it.
Get a bolt on supercharger and a big pulley.
You're going to get that low end grunt and still have enough high range horsepower to make you happy.
Along with, they're more likely supported within the LS crowd.

But, if you really want a turbo. I'm sure there are kits. And I'm sure it'll be funner. But I'd settle for a bolt on super. It's just a trade off. And ease is what I go for.

Pick one. Nearly anything you do will show gains. Want to move your power band around and make more power? Cam swap. Want it to be louder and make more power? Headers and full exhaust. Want to went your pants at highway speed? Use the first two and add two compact spares to the rear. 70mph 4th gear burnouts like a mofo.

Just because the Pontiac GTO has a style that of a shitty mid 90s Chevy Monte Carlo doesn't mean it's a sleeper.

A sleeper needs to be nearly quiet, generally 4 doors, and no aesthetics or badges that say otherwise.

A VR4 Galant isn't a sleeper because it has turbo sounds and a badge.
Some would say it is though, because it's a fucking 4 door galant.

My whole idea of what a sleeper was changed once I got into the car scene.

They really arent. Great power sure, but heavy chassis and tall gearing doesnt equal fast acceleration.
These things run mid 14s stock in decent conditions, push into high 13s with proper rubber and a good driver. Quick, yeah, but not all that fast.

I'm not an expert but from what I've seen in magazine articles it's very responsive to mods and should be able to manage 500 hp fairly simply. The heads are decent, I think (I may be mistaking them with the iron 6.0, which one is "cathedral port"?) and a cam/i/h/e combo would probably net decent gains on its own.

The 05 model did come with the hood scoop delete as an option...there was no spoiler delete option. There were 11069 2005 GT0s produced of that only 24 were built with the hood scoop delete option. Because of this the hood scoop delete option was itself deleted as an option for 2006.
