I would really like to, but this car is still far away from production. The first FT86 concept was put out in the Tokyo Motor Show in Oct. of 2009, and it didn't make it into production until the 2012 model year. Following the same trend this car won't be out until the 2018 model year. Alot can change in three years, but as of right now I plan on buying one.

Sure, but only need a remap to get 200hp out of it. In the miata you either need to go high lift/duration cams in addition to a remap but or get low compression pistons and do an FI set up. Personally I'd prefer a Miata for the NA sound but most people prefer FI these days when it comes to 4 bangers.

Kinda, a driveshaft doesn't weigh 500lb, and some rwd cars implement a transaxle in the back to rid themselves of a seperate rear diff like the corvette. Rwd may not be as compact but spreads the weight throughout the car by (typically) having the transmission closer to center and the longitudinal mount makes working on them so much better and easier, especially a clutch. How compact something is also doesn't relate to weight, 100 lb of lead is more compact or dense than 100lb of feathers. Fwd cars also typically have an easier time making low weight because they have tiny little engines that don't put out enough torque to warrant a beefy tranny either. A 70s corolla weighed like 1600lb and was rwd, with an aluminum 4 cylinder and steel that won't rust out the moment someone splashes water on it I'm sure a similar sized rwd can be sub 2500lb with little effort.

If you're a very skilled driver you could use power-on-oversteer in an "oh shit" moment but that's the only real advantage.
If you're rotating in a FWD car all you have to do is mash the gas to correct so it's EZ mode (therefore safer).
