I work on a car assembly line

AMA
>>
Which part of the assembly line? And what brand/company?
>>
>>13970893
Chrysler, mostly in the final car stage but I've been all over
>>
>>13970884
Why are they not painted yet? But are in final assembly?

Or every car that day just supposed to be painted black?
>>
>>13970899
Thats not a picture of the plant I work at, I can't find pictures of my plant online because its illegal.
>>
>>13970884
Is it noisy where you work?
Where do they fill the gas tank? What brand of gas?
Do all cars get their engines broken in at the factory, or you just assemble them and call it a day?
What parts give the new car smell?
Would you buy any of the cars you build?
Do you take pride in your work?
>>
>>13970917

not OP, but as far as i know what gives off the new car smell is the sealants in the body and windshield.

>>
>>13970917
>Is it noisy where you work?
Some areas with drills and chains carrying doors can be loud, I usually wear headphones with music so I don't really notice

>Where do they fill the gas tank? What brand of gas?
At the "gas fill" area right before they turn it on and inspect the vehicle and test the components that require gas. As far as I know just regular 89 gas, they're cheap and they only put in 25L

>Do all cars get their engines broken in at the factory, or you just assemble them and call it a day?
Yes, they get broken in going through tests and driving through road tests to the lot

>What parts give the new car smell?
I assume just fresh interior, I'm used to the smell now I hardly even notice.
>Would you buy any of the cars you build?
Fuck no

>Do you take pride in your work?
Absolutely not, I'm a human performing robot tasks
>>
>>13970926
Taking pictures of the inside of the plant is illegal, man.
>>
How do you feel about robots takin yer jerb?
>>
>>13970940
I'm glad some of them did. Nobody wants to fuck with sharp objects all day.

>>13970931
Thank you based OP.
>>
>>13970953

>>
Do you get a discount?
>>
>>13970978
Yes, 15% off new/preowned Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat from authorized dealerships
>>
How much do you get paid an hour?
>>
>>13970985
alfa romeo too?
>>
>>13971013
$22/h, minimum wage is $11 here for reference
>>13971021
Lel no
>>
>>13971052
Why not Alfa Romeo, I thought it was part of FCA
>>
>>13970985
Northern illinois bro?
>>
>>13970884
Why would you work an assembly plant against medical advice? You have a death wish?
>>
>>13971119
Not sure why, probably because they aren't very recognizable as Chrysler vehicles. Hell when I park my car in the parking lot they wanna tow me every day.
>>13971129
Nope
>>
>>13971156
Its only part time while I'm in school, I'll be out in 5 years and its the best money in the city for a student
>>
Do you cum in the fuel tank?
>>
>>13970931
Are there mistakes that make it through because you or someone else more or less says "eh, fuck it"?
>>
>>13971177
No I dont.

For example, if I missed a undertorqued a bolt an alarm would go off and the zone leader would have to repair it. Its very rare that vehicles leave with parts missing, the system is nearly foolproof since most parts are required to be put on for the next person in line to do theirs. So even if you dont catch it, someone eventually will. Plus they go through a shit load of inspection with people who have like 30+ years seniority.
>>
Why don't you build Twingos?
>>
Me too! A-class mercedes left hand doors, great fun.
>>
>>13971160
What car you drive?

What kind of cars does your plant build?

Do you build like dodge too, or are the lines segregated?
>>
How'd you get the job?

>>
>>13970884
what mistakes in your life made you end up where you are today, and how can my children avoid them
>>
>>13970884
Why wouldn't you get a car from your company even with the discount? You said their strict on the quality control is it because you work there all day and don't want to drive something that makes you remember?
>>
How is alignment done at the factory?
>>
>>13973542
His dad posted on a North Vietnamese hand puppet bulletin board.
>>
>>13970884
Can you give me a car?
>>
>>13973592
It's generally not. It's done to a spec, but final alignment is supposed to be part of the dealer pre delivery inspection.
>>
>>13973613
Thats sorta retarded. We set them in seconds with very strict tolerances.
>>
>>13973624
It's not retarded.
>>
>>13973627
Do enlighten me on why you feel a dealership can do this better with some cheap ass equipment then a factory can with machines costing 800K a pop?
>>
>>13973613
If Chrysler actually does alignment checks on PDIs it has to be the only company to do so, I've never heard of that being done.
>>
>>13972525
>What car you drive?
1993 Mazda Miata LE

>What kind of cars does your plant build?
Town and Country, and Grand Caravan

>Do you build like dodge too, or are the lines segregated?
I used to like some of the Dodge vehicles, the only one I would buy now is the Challenger Hellcat or SRT8.
>>
What was that shit about the new Wrangle coming off the line with mismatched tire arches?
>>
>>13973490
My father got it for me, he's been a tool and dye maker there for 20+ years

>>13973510
I never see any of them, they're at the very end of the plant

>>13973542
Like I said before, only working her for 5 years during school, can't beat the money

>>13973573
I don't want another Chrysler, I have a Cirrus and its okay but has more problems than my 93 Miata and its a 2000. I don't like the look of American cars post 80's

>>13973592
It gets tested, if the alignment is off (which is extremely rare) they fix it.

>>13973721
Not sure, I don't make Wranglers
>>
>>13973717
Shit sorry I thought you asked if i liked Dodge, yes we build the Grand Caravan. Most Chrysler plants build both Dodge and Chrysler. Same parts, different name.
>>
>>13970895
How did you get on?
>>
>>13973765
What?
>>
>>13973784
...I see why you are doing robot tasks...

How did you gett hired on with Chrysler you fucking knob.
>>
>>13973801
>How did you get on?

Right, and you're attacking my intelligence

I applied, how else do you get a job?
>>
>>13973815
Ask your pappy if he has heard "How did you get on?" in reference to a job.
>>
>>13970884
I recall hearing a story years ago. An old man bought a Lincoln landbarge (likely a Town Car) and hear rattling noises cnstantly. He brought it to the dealer multiple times and they couldn't find the problem, until 6 moths later when they pulled off the door panel. Inside the door panel was a tin can with a note, and some rocks inside, put there by the assembly line workers. All the note said was "How long did it take you to find this?"

Anything like that ever happen on your assembly line?
>>
>>13973815
>Right, and you're attacking my intelligence
He's just mad you make twice he does with his collage degree.
>>
>>13973844
I'm sure some of it does, I've had people write me notes from earlier stages in the line and sometimes I forget to take them out. Anything like rocks and shit would be found as they test them through roads and listen to the sounds.

There was one incident when a girl a few jobs behind me wrote a note flirting with me and I forgot to take it out. Oh well, someones gonna find it in a couple years. Harmless, but funny.

They could build thousands of car bombs.

You think they're gonna send cars out without an alignment check?

No, they check them before they're sent out. If the alignment gets fucked up after that it's up to the warranty to fix
>>
What Chrysler plant do you work at?
What cars do you make?
What will be the next car you buy?
>>
Any plans to revive the Viper?

She doesn't deserve to die.

Not so much as illegal, as a breach of contract. Confidentiality agreements and all...
>>
>>13974331
>What will be the next car you buy?
Idk, I just bought a miata

>>13974347
