I sat and watched some guy do this at the parking lot of my school at -32c... I was nice enough to help him call a tow truck

Is this bad because it will crack your windshield?
>>13954814
yeah

shiggy
Also, my windshield has been fucked with scraping. I bet the previous owner used to use fucking rake or something (or no blades in wipers), there are so many scratches, light rays directing everywhere rape my eyes when it's sunny autumn morning.
>>13954818
Same here... I want a new windshield so bad
Also; tarps are better than anything really; covers more, takes less time
>>13954822
;what kind; of tarp; do you use;?
>>13954822
>tarps
Considering my sunroof leaks (possible snow/ice melt+refreeze causing cracks in few days' sitting time), it may be reasonable for me to equip with such, too.
>>13954767
my neighbor actually does this on a frequent basis, is this actually bad when it's freezing only a few degrees below 0 celcius?
>>13954769
Did it instantly shatter or did it just crack?
>>13954822
How long do you have to wait after parking to put the tarp on?
>>13954870
Probably shattered, but windshields are laminated with plastic to keep them from exploding when they shatter.
>>13954882
>>13954822
I thought we were using them in comically incorrect way
I live in a warm weather place. Once we had air conditioner on in the family car and stopped to do groceries. We and my siblings opened the doors at same time and the rear window cracked immediately. We were all wtf.

Full plastic from scandic chain called "Biltema"... its cheap, covers all of it and is more than solid enough to not tear when I'm pulling it off the car covered in a foot of wet, heavy snow

Sounds like you'd need it>>13954870
Cracked from lower corner up to the center and down to other lower corner... he was not happy, especially seeing as it was a newer BMW
>>13954874
I'll put in on right away - any reason why I shouldn't?
Its below freezing all of the time during winter, and for the first few weeks where the temperature may vary below and over freezing it might get wet and some ice will be on it, hence why on those days I'll have to do a little bit of scraping to remove the spots on my windshield, and also hang the tarp up to dry

REEEEEEEEEEE
Last summer when my shitbox was stuck in 4 solid inches of ice I got it out using a shitton of boiling water on the wheel area. I was half expecting it to re-freeze before I got out, lel
>>13955180
>last summer
>4 inches of solid ice
Why the fuck are there penguins on /o/, and why do they own vehicles?
>>13955183
It snows every month except July and August here, m80. 5" of snow in June + shitbox hasn't been moved since spring = stuck in 4" of ice in summer
>>13955195
Rural_Alaskan, is that you?
>>13955198
Nah but same general area, just in Canada
>>13955207
We rarely see snowfall outside of the usual late September-late May season, although it does happen from time to time... wouldn't really mind having winter all the time, my favorite season
>>13955212
It gets old when it's 9-10 months per year, trust me.
On the other hand travelling by snowmobile is fun
>>13955216
Maybe...
Winter has been fucking terrible so far, with random days with several plus degrees, few proper snowfalls and all, and its made worse by the fact that my work is dependent on it
And about snowmobiles... somewhat jealous. I ride them all day at work, but I'd love the opportunity to use them on my free time outside of the Red Cross, but operating one outside very strict, special circumstances is basically illegal here in Norway
>>13954767>>13954822
I usually throw an old blanket on top and secure it with the door. Works just as well.
>>13955370
Still gotta wipe off the snow on the rest of the car. I just pull/roll the entire thing off and its pretty much completely snow & ice free
>>13955408
Why no garage?
>>13955036

>>13955216

>>13955424
Is it ever sunny in Norway? Every pic/video I've ever seen, it's overcast and snowy or just cloudy. Do you guys get depressed from the lack of sun?
>>13955439
No, because it keeps the niggers away
>>13955439
A few hours per day at most during the winter time. During the summer its pretty damned bright
And actually yes; depression goes up in very large numbers during the winter due to the lack of sun, coined with the term "winter depresion". It happens especially up in the northern parts, where suicide rates go up during these times.
During the winter it'll be completely dark when I wake up for work/school, clear/greyish depending on the clouds from about 9 to 4:30 changing through the season, and its dark when I get back home from work
Wtf is this!
Murican build quality?
Hot tap water does the job and in all my years iv not seen a crack.
...but now you guys have been on it
>>13955449
That is a beautiful ski resort, what is it called?
>>13955447
You were cool at first.
>>13955449
Intredasting. If Santa had a homeland it would be Norway.
>>13955464
Calm down nigga, he's obviously joking.
Sweden has a similar climate and it's FULL of niggers.
>>13955463
Trysil, Norways biggest and my home town/workplace
>>13955469
>Sweden has a similar climate and it's FULL of niggers
The weird part is that the areas with the high percentage of blacks/middle easterners are the most southern ones where the winters are quite a bit milder (this is also where the largest cities are, so that helps I suppose)
>>13955475
Oh wow I've heard of Trysil. I am maximum jelly. I love skiing/snowboarding but I live in a NYC. All the good resorts are 5+ hours away. I'm going to Canada for skiing in January just because it's so cheap compared to here; Im paying 350 bucks for 5 nights at a motel, and found a deal where I can get 5 days of skiing lift tickets for 80 bucks.
>>13955479
Oh wow, 5-day pass here costs $200
>>13955484
That's still cheap compared to in the US; here one day lift ticket is 55-75 dollars.
I tried looking for Trysil on liftopia.com which is the website I use for great deals but they dont have Norway. Mainly US and Canada, a few in the Alps and that's it
>>13955475
They go where the white wimmenz are and the rapin is good.
>>13955489
We seem to be pretty much unnoticed outside of Scandinavia and Russia, but we're looking to change that, especially in regards to filling the resort on weekdays outside of the most popular times (early december, the two weeks before easter) where we have plenty of capacity without making it crowded
We opened up now on last Friday. Tons of people on Friday, decent amount on Saturday although the weather was shit (plus-degrees and a small bit of rain), and a low amount of people on Sunday with half a foot of absolutely drenched snow... it has not been a good start snow-wise, but they're reporting that we're finally getting to the below-freezing 24/7 period finally so the snowcannons can operate full time
>>13955501
The biggest problem is geographical placement. You're only 3 hours from the capital, which is great, that's how much I drive to get to a medium-sized ok-ish resort outside of NYC. If I had Trysil 3 hours away I'd be up there every weekend. But that's only the customer base in Oslo. If you're looking to attract people who purposely have to get on a plane just to get to Norway and then go skiing then there's other places they can look into. Chamonix in the Alps is much closer to everybody on mainland Europe.
Your only plus is that you can start your season early. I'm going to Canada end of January because by then there will be a lot of snow, but now there's not even a single centimeter on the ground.
>>13955424
u should look around ur neighborhood to see if anyone has an empty garage u can rent
>>13955501
mB, 2 more questions: is your MB diesel or petrol? Do you tend to feel winter comfy feels?
>>13955408
>tfw you will never in Scandinavia where everyone, even the buses, have xboxhuge lights
>>13955559
True, very true. Thats a very big part of the reason they are now in the startup-process of building an airport 30 minutes away
>>13955567
So I'll have to walk or take the bus to take my car? Sounds fun
>>13955579
Petrol, which make life in the winter a lot more comfy
Also have an engine-heater (circulates and heats my coolant), so every morning my engine is a good +35c at startup
>>13955606
Airports are ridiculous amounts of money but that would definitely up customers because it would make getting there so much easier. I wish I was in Yurop so I could, but a transatlantic flight is $1000 minimum
>>13955606
i rent the garage of a guy who lives down my street since he doesnt have a car
>>13955615
Its co-paid by the norwegian government, the swedish government and SkiStar, a large company that owns ski-resorts on both sides of the border close to where the airport will be
>>13955617

I asked you as I heard a statement Nords drive mostly diesels, what I couldn't believe for the reason above.
>So I'll have to walk or take the bus to take my car?
Yup, my buddy walks over 1 km to his car.
>>13955628
Noice.
>>13954772
Ironicly they actually do that in Alaska on dirt bikes for homemade ice tires.
>>13955646
Government initiative in the late 80's/90's (cant remember exactly when) to buy diesels because they were supposed to be a lot more environmentally friendly. Taxes on them were dropped immensely
>>13955664
is your government collapsing right now?
>>13955781
Hard for a country as rich as ours to collapse... we'll face issues in the future when the oil runs out tho. Our wages are way too fucking bloated at the moment, and we have practically no sustainable export or industry due to the wages and not being able to match prices
>>13955220
That sucks dude.
I live in Michigan, after a big snow storm there's always those guys who drive on the sidewalk in their snowmobiles going Mach 3. They usually go by my house real late at night, too
>>13955628
That looks like a beautiful place to live.
>not just parking facing south east so the morning sun does the job for you
>>13955220
You can't just have a snowmobile and rip around on it over there? That's fucked up.
>>13954767
lol I can't believe ppl do this shit....granddad used to wrap a couple pieces of course sand paper around his wipers and turn them on full blast until the ice was gone cause "scrapin is a bunch of bullshit"
>>13954767
If you use warm tap water, like 40 degrees C or something It actually does the trick and won't do shit to your windscreen. Works for me like a charm.
>Not just having a god tier Subaru defroster
>not having a glycol based windscreen fluid
oh wait all your fucking cars have that but niggers are too chimp to buy more when it runs out
