The transmission could be iffy since it's a J series transverse layout, but the J series engine itself is good from what I've heard. Low gas mileage though.

New headlights should be here in a couple of days. Also new o2 sensor. I've been running without the downstream sensor since I installed my exhaust. I know it doesn't affect anything, but the CEL is annoying.

Hey Hondabro's...just been casually lurking in the background here and there.

Had a hard shift the other night getting it ready for its MOT...changed a front wheel bearing, put the cat back on, welded up a small hole on the downpipe and had to patch up one of the outer sills where the underseal had came off and it was starting to rot...(fucking salty Scottish roads!)

Oh, gave the bad boy a service too...some fresh Mutol Excess and a Hamp filter.

Fucker feels better to drive with the cat back on if I'm being honest...sounds better and seems to have more low end torque!?...might just be the 'bum dyno' talking though.

hey /hg/, gunna be replacing the clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing in my CRX soon and was wondering if anyones got any advice for the job? Varies by state, and sometimes county. Most of America will pass a car for a working horn and lights while other areas will do a full on strict inspection. California comes to mind for that.

Ten bucks a year from me and all they check is my horn and lights. I can do whatever I want to my car as long as those things work. I think my windshield needs to be good, too. I'm straight piped and no fucks given.

Truly the land of the free. In my country, we have an inspection every two years. They quite literally check everything. I like it 2bh, because you can check the history of inspections if you have a VIN number.

Yeah it has its ups and downs. Even with are bare bones inspections I STILL see countless people driving with one headlight or broken tail lights.

I actually almost failed the inspection for my hatch because my horn didn't work. I went to an electronics shop and wired up a big red button to my horn directly.

I had to hold back my laughs telling him where my horn was. I still haven't properly mounted it.

Yeah when I bought it, it was at 245k but the speed sensor wasn't working. No idea when it broke so I'd imagine it's close to 300k on the body. I fixed the sensor (corroded plug) and it will be at 250k in less than 1000 miles. Engine has like 60k on it and runs like a top so whatever.

No but I think it might be the tailgate. Had an unrecorded rear end accident before I owned it. I did eliminate one of the more major leaks, though. Was at the very top near the spoiler. Just had to remove some dirt between the rubber seal and the body. Was letting in literally gallons of water to the point where the whole spare tire well filled up and almost spilled into the rest of the car. I know about the drain plug at the bottom now so I can just remove that and let it all out. Been raining since this morning and there was very little water coming in but I know it's on the left side.

Yea, the D16 in my 1991 Si burns oil in a matter of days and burns more when at higher RPMs. I am shifting it at about 3000 right now which helps a bit, but it still burns pretty quick. I love the car and don't want to run it to the ground, but im not super mechanically inclined.

Your oil rings are bad from the sounds of it, you're going to run it into the ground quickly at that rate.

My 1991 Prelude spun a bearing at 257k because of bad rings and oil burn. It will clog the drains on the piston and will starve your engine, the best option here is to swap or rebuild.
