Whete is airline pilot bro with the 3000GT? He flies ERJ's I think. Maybe CRJ's. There are actually a few pilots on /o/.

Btw, I'm jelly of all you niggas. I wanted to be a pilot forever. Didn't really have the motivation (or money) to get my private license when I was younger and not fit for the Air Force. So I just drive trucks now.

That's the same thing that happened with me.

Just to get a private license, it isn't too bad. You really don't need that many hours IIRC. It seemed really low when I looked into it.

But to get enough hours to ever fly professionally, you pretty much need to join the Air Force. Or be loaded where you can buy your own plane or pay for thousands of hours behind the controls.
>>
>>13951371
I've flown a Piper Cherokee Warrior II, a T-41 Mescalero, and a Liberty XL-2.
>>
>>13951805
>loaded to buy your own plane
Well, you could do a lot with an IFR-capable Cessna 150. Those are pretty cheap compared to most airplanes.

I know you can get a little Cessna or Piper for cheap. But there is a lot that still comes along with it. Fuel, storage, maintenance, plus whatever FAA regustration BS exists. Also what does insurance run on a personal plane like that? It has to be pretty tall.

Either way it requires a bit of disposable income.

I've flown cessna 170s, and a glassair 220. Honestly. I learned how to fly one summer when u was 18. I had enrolled in a tech college to become an airline pilot. I got my privates and left the school because of disagreements with the instructors (they were hack jobs imo). Never went back and was too poor to go out of state. Never flew again. Still miss those days.
>>
>>13951992

Here's an interesting article I read a while ago that goes in depth on the costs. If you have enough disposable income, then it could still be worth it to buy an airplane, even if you aren't rich.

Actually, just search for "The Real Cost of Ownership The Affordable Plane" because 4chan won't let me post the URL.

Had a bit of a go in a Grob Tutor back when I was a cadet. It was quite fun but, honestly, it's not something I'd be that fussed about taking up big time. Maybe I'd learn properly if I had more time and money than I knew what to do with, but even then it'd be pretty low down my list of priorities.

I can still definitely see the appeal, though.

Hello, I'm that fag.

I fly the Embraer 175 only. Although I do have a crush on the 145... I don't know, its nice...

Whenever I'm not driving my Mitsubishi GTO (I'm autistic enough to choose GTO instead of 3000GT) my other ride is a very humble Embraer 175 :-)

Yesterday I was in the captains seat, it felt amazingly good, I was calling the shots. My captain said I was ready to be a Captain. I still need to get more experience, but that motivated me a lot.

I still want to put a WAT sticker on the fuselage, engine... So far it's been impossible, and I really don't want to get fired for that, but it's my naughty wish.

I now have the funds to buy a TT GTO, but tfw no space for it. And I adore my N/A GTO

Just slap a sticker on there. Fuck them.

Do you fly in the same plane everyday mostly? Or do they switch you around in all different 175's?

>just slap a sticker on there

It's easier said than done :-( you always have rampers around, shit ton of cameras monitoring the aircraft... I always carry a WAT sticker in my luggage, I've put some WAT stickers on tugs and airport trucks but on a plane? Hell naaah

>Do you fly the same plane everyday?

It really depends with the schedule they give you, sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. You just leave the plane and hop in to another one. Sometimes you are deadheading in The very same 175 you just were a passenger with :].

It usually sucks when you have to fly a plane that's waiting on maintenance... Very shitty situation, but at the end of the day... REBOOT...

How hard was the road to get where you are now, and do you love your current job? How is the pay? I heard it starts off really low when you start.

I kinda dropped my flight training/aviation diploma recently because I was running low on both money and passion, and I'm joining the air force as an aircraft tech so I can use what I've learned. Might pick it back up later when I'm done my 5 years, not really sure.
>>
>>13959015
How hard was it?
It took me around 3 years to get where I'm at, it's no harder than pursuing a college degree, you have to put your 200%.

The pay is surely on the low side at the beginning, but you start from there and you will easily get higher wages with time, it's all a matter of patience, most of the time you are at a hotel that the company pays for and most of the time the company covers the costs for you while you are outside your base.

in terms of passion I don't think I can feel more passion for my job, its in my blood, my grandfather flew one of the first 747s when he was with Iberia, he also trained pilots for KLM... He was a cool dude that pretty much got me into aviation.

If you really don't feel passion, then you are better off with another job.

Money-wise, I'm a middle class fag and I have loans to pay. You have many many financing options.

My advice for you will be, just get your private license and enjoy flying every now and then.

I still fucking love Cessnas... Flying is beautiful... I'm still shocked at how a huge and heavy machine is capable of flying... It's truly a thing of beauty.

On a side note, I met a Jetblue pilot that owns a GTO (3000GT) and he has other pilot buddies that own other 3000GTs...

There's a 777 Captain that owns a 95 Corolla, because he doesn't want another car. Rich as fuck and drives his little Corolla, he still takes it to the dealership and replaces every part with original parts though. Funny how he loves that little car.
