Dirt cheap, goes like hell
-Mazda RX7 SA22/FB (GSL-SE is a plus)
Best handling car from the 80s. SCCA loves em
-Mazda MX3
Tiny, nimble, has V6 version
-Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
Heavy, but V6TT AWD
-Mitsubishi Galant VR4
V6TT AWD, looks sharp
-Mitsubishi Starion/Chrysler Conquest
Underappreciated for a cheap RWD car
-Nissan 200SX S12
If you can find the turbo or V6 version
-Nissan 300ZX Z31
Invincible engines. Sexy. Hard to find in good condition
-Nissan Stagea
Volvo and Audi don't make the only fast wagons
-Subaru Alcyone SVX
Just needs a 6-speed swap
-Volvo S60R
That straight 5 though

Absolute curveball: Autozam AZ1.
657cc I3 turbo, 5 speed, MR layout, gullwing doors.

Mazda 323 GTX and GTR. Tiny light AWD shitboxes, powered by a 1.8 tarbo engine that apparently has decent potential.

Also makes for a rather nice sleeper. I've seen one late 80's example for sale running 300 awhp, complete with steelies and a faded paintjob for that premier shitbox look

Actually the only things it shares with the EB110 are the carbon fiber chassis and the base engine.
Instead of 4 small turbos it has 2 bigger ones and it puts out more power, the AWD system was replaced with a simple RWD transaxle and both the exterior and the interior were completely new.

A friend of mine in the UK owns one and loves it to death. He says it was a fixer-upper, which implies he got parts for it. Maybe it was just different markets or something.
