I own a 2016, it's not a bad little vehicle at all. Here in Colorado even the 2012 models have barely depreciated, one of the biggest factors for me buying it.

It is not a performance car or special by any means, just a daily car that is decent in a lot of weather conditions.

I have the Grand Touring model so it's AWD and has the 2.5L. It has all the options you can get except for remote start and rear heated seats, almost fully loaded.

The AWD system works fine in the snow and rain, my wife has driven it way more then I ever do so to be honest I am not that familiar with it. I will say you do not feel it "slip" like some other AWD systems in the snow, it corrects the traction across the drivetrain in a very quick manner.

The 2.5L is perfect for a daily driver. No issues if you need to speed up real quick on an on-ramp to merge or similar situations. You are not going to win any races but it gets good MPG and like I said can accelerate when you need it to. The first CX-5 I ever drove was a 2013 with a 2.0L and the different between the 2.5 and the 2.0 is very significant. I'd stick with the 2.5, not to mention I think the 2.0L is only available in the very basic FWD package. These things hold their value pretty well so don't be afraid to upgrade to a touring model.

I forgot to mention, these Skyactiv motors were designed/engineered in a very different fashion. They have a high compression ratio, but only require regular octane fuel, and the torque and horsepower band remain relatively close throughout the whole powerband. It does not feel like any other Inline-4 on the market, so it's hard to compare to a Honda or something in terms of power you just need to drive it to understand.

2.0L is no longer available except as Manual FWD. The updated CX-5 comes with a lot more standard including the 2.5l with automatic for just $1300 now.
The AWD also only adds another $1300 now.

My mom has the 2.5L grand touring with just about all the options. I've driven it and it's quite nice. Handles better than the other brands sedans despite it being a CUV.

What still sucks about them is how much it costs to get LED lights and leather in them. 10 grand over base.

The 2.5L automatic gets to 0-60 in 7.8s. Which is plenty for traffic but it's slower than its competitors now.

The other manufacturers have mostly updated the past year to catch up after the CX-5 blew them the fuck out in 2013, and are slightly better now.

Forester XT 6.5s

It used to get there in 7.2s with the manual, but you can't get the 2.5L in manual anymore.

But it has the best interior, and the best balance of doing good cars and having good MPG.

They're coming out with a new CX-5 that's 20-30% more fuel efficient and probably more powerful as well in probably 15-20 months from now.

I forgot to mention I had no proof of income that I got that 2.99% at. My friend with roughly the same credit score (750) but proof of income got 0.9% on his Mazda6. Think he may have had loans in the past when I didn't too, though.

I've been meaning to refinance once I have a good looking proof of income but I work seasonally.
