I want a rotary so bad in my Kei truck... but can't justify the cost to swap one in, getting it to pass emissions testing... and the potential extra fuel cost, because I doubt it will get 30mpg out of it, even if the truck is only 1600 lbs.

>>

An eccentric shaft is just the name of what the crankshaft would be in a piston engine. The difference is that one is build for rotors and the other for pistons. You couldnt put pistons on an eccentric shaft and you couldnt put rotors on a crank shaft

>>13903526
In a very light car, a n/a rotary can be plenty fast. A brideport rotary can make in the mid 200s at the wheels, maybe even 300whp. In a Miata or AE86 that is more than enough, almost scary fast. Even in a first gen Rx7 250whp is very fast.

Naaa, even if it is around 180s it is still pretty weak. The 13b renesis, that one would be perfect.
The major problem is that there is no easy way to drop it on a mx5 NA. The fc is almost an mx5 NA/NB. While the rx8 is almost an NC.

A man can still dream with those sweet flaming 9500 rpms...

Still a little to expensive for just 200bhp.
something like the picture would be just perfect, 250bhp n/a.
>>
>>13900133
I got 20mpg at 55 in 4th and 20mpg at 80 5th in my FD.

The trick is the same as any other car, don't modulate the throttle pedal.

3 rotor is best, currently saving my golds for one.
>>
>>13903652
No more expensive than a renesis
>>
>>13903666
>No more expensive than a renesis
How would you make the mounts for the engine then, or where would you buy the adaptations for it?
And which gearbox would you use? Would a m15 work?
>>
>>13903681
Mounts are super easy. Google it.
The miata trans can be used by just bolting on the rx7 Bell housing
forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=360583
>>
>>13903694
But if you're using an rx7 bell housing you'll need an rx7 gearbox and probably a custom propeller shaft.
Still don't see where the "super easy" part is... And not sure if the 13b renesis will fit to the older rx7 bell housing anyway
>>
>>13903742
Bell housing bolts to miata trans.
So you don't need custom mounts or shaft for the trans. But only if your using an RX7 block
If you're going renesis its a different story.
I have heard of guys using FD transmission in an RX8 though.

Two rotor with the following mods:
Aluminium end plates
Multipart eccentric shaft
Centre bearing to reduce high-rpm flex.
Side and peripheral porting for maximum gas flow.
2nd generation Renesis housings for the multiple oil jets.
11,000rpm 13b?
>>
>>13899520
Custom 12A based 3 and 4 rotors (18A, 24A) are my favorite.

20b and 26b, especially OEM based, are too long and heavy

Custom 20b intermediate aluminum housing ones are nice, though.

>>13899577
Like this is 12a based. The housings are way thinner. That 6 rotor is only slightly longer than the size of 13b based 4 rotors.

Hard to have a turbo operate at more than half the rev range and be responsive.

Even a smaller turbo that makes 350-400 hp on a 13b like the GT35R or Apexi RX6 has like a second of lag to spool when you go from cruising at 3500rpm to flooring it.

Most don't go with a turbo smaller than that, and bigger ones REALLY lag.

That's an EFR, they actually produce more torque at low rpm than the stock twins.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z9VrO6E314
This is a slightly bigger EFR. Just a hair slower than the stock twins but it'll make 400+hp.

?

1850lb car, which probably has like a 3.75:1 first gear and like a 4.5:1 final drive, that's 16.875:1 ratio.

Compared to a Corvette that has a 13.7826:1 ratio and weighs 78% more, it's like having over 200 lb-ft of torque in an equivalent weight car which isn't too bad.
Still half a Corvette's, but it's a 30 year old car that ends up being more powerful with how high it revs. You're talking equivalent to 540 HP with how it's geared and how much lighter it is compared to a Corvette, in a 30 year old car.

You're just actually retarded and don't know how gearing works, and apparently don't know how to shift gears either.

My FD makes shit torque under 2000 rpm but I have no problem cruising on the highway under that, and it's a 5 speed.
