Any of you faggots carry these?
I just ordered a 1L bottle.
>>

Stupid af family.
>>
>>13894324
Why?
You never know if you'll need it.
>camp fire
>run out of fuel randomly
>help another person who ran out of fuel
>motorcycle with no fuel gauge
>getting into a crazy road rage firefight and awesomely tossing into the air and perfectly shooting it so it makes a sweet explosion right on top of your enemy
>inb4 bullets don't ignite fuel
>>
I will never mistake his for a water bottle.
>>
>>13894357
>camp fire
Don't need gasoline for that.
>run out of fuel randomly
Never happens.
>help another person who ran out of fuel
Gonna get far with 1 fucking liter, dude.
>motorcycle with no fuel gauge
What is a reserve?

Carry a jerry can like everyone else.

Could get them to a gas station

Reserve sometimes won't get you far enough. I've been stuck in the forest before.

I refilled one of these with gas to keep in my mustang. If it sits for a while it starts much easier if I pour a little gas in the carb before even trying to start it cause mechanical fuel pumps suck dick
as far as my/any modern car, I don't see any need to carry such a small amount of fuel
>>
>>13894394

If I have to use a half tank of gas, 200 miles is certainly not "a hurry"
>>
>>13894403

I can also use a lighter and wood.
>Maybe not to you. But two of my cars have fuel gauge issues
That's not random, then. You're just an idiot.
>Could get them to a gas station
The distance 1L will get them is probably easily walked.

This, again, is not a random thing. It's your being an idiot.
>>

So much fun when you could just fucking drive.

Yes. Then add gasoline for convenience
>That's not random, then. You're just an idiot.
Happened pretty randomly. How was I to know they broke untill it was too late

I'll get 320 miles on half a tank with careful driving if I'm correct, but I've just set half a tank as it'll allow me to to pretty much anywhere I'd need to be without having to worry about fuel

>accident happened, relative in the hospital and mortally wounded
>called in for search & rescue or similar with the Red Cross

Main two reasons why

Are these vented in any sort of way? On a normal jerry can if you keep the vent closed the can will swell up and crack the plastic seams and welds.

Youre better off just getting a traditional plastic thermos.

>You need to be less salty and die when you get stranded somewhere.
Driven all through North and South America and I've never gotten stranded because I'm not a fucking idiot who can't keep track of fuel. The one likely to die here is you. Be less salty about it, senpai. You'll live longer.
>>
>>13894528
>They have to be vented, moron
Right cuz they are shit and huge and you can't keep one inside a car.
Are you arguing just for the sake of argument?
You really seem stupid
>>
>>13894318

You know these are for camp stove fuel, not automotive gasoline. Right?

Where are you going to drive that's useful on 1 liter of fuel anyway? Will that even fully prime the fuel system?
>>
>>13894555
They take gasoline fine
If I'm getting 22mpg in my pickup that I regularly take into remote woods. It converts to a little over 5 miles per litre

Highway/county road driving on my aggresive summer tires and a pretty much constant speed of 50-55 mph

62 litres/16,75 US gallons
0.66 litres per 10km/35.63 MPG
Roughly 596 miles on a tank, could probably get better by removing all the tools and stuff I keep in my boot aswell as fitting tires that don't score a G (worst) on rolling resistance
>>

>>
>>13894623
>the fuck?
Crawling along at walking pace does not improve your mileage. Sure, the fuel rate would be down as there's next to no load, but the distance covered for that lower fuel rate is even lower still.
So in effect, a 1L bottle is going to get you even less farther.

>>13894663

motherfucker are you dumb or something?

These fucking things EXPLODE when they are in a hot car.

My scoutmaster had an MSR fuel canister EXACTLY LIKE YOUR PICTURE. He had it full of white gas, stored in his trunk over the weekend because he was lazy. It was 100 degrees F outside that day.

The car is parked outside the window to his office. At about 2pm, he and the rest of the office heard a gigantic BOOM! Looking out his window he saw that there was a big dent on his trunk.

The canister had gotten so hot that it expanded and exploded, shooting up and denting his Corrola's trunk lid. He ended up having to let the car sit outside for a few days with the trunk open, and then he had it cleaned. It still stunk.

Do. Not. Do. This.

Ever.

Having been around a fair few LPG bottles that did not (unbeknown to me) have working relief valves and those that did, were mounted incorrectly, it is of my opinion that a fuel cannister that just vents as it pleases in any hot environment is just a dumb as fuck idea.
It's why fuel cannisters, plastic or otherwise have that X stamp to allow for just that.

In fact, many people reckon this is exactly how we overcame huge fuel efficiency in wars. Crossing the savage as fuck plains with non-expanding fuel cans? Kek.

TL;DR
Fuel tanks/cans should only vent as a means to mitigate/prolong the inevitable in a worst case scenario. Like, in a fire.

If even that, I'd have like 2-3 miles at best but since it's so hilly I'd just kill the engine another 200 feet down the road.
>>

Why don't you just get a slip tank for your truck then? That's pretty much what anyone who is really out in the woods a lot do to their trucks.
>>
>>13894618
>truck
>remote area
>1L
That's not going to do a fucking thing for you. If you're not carrying at least a 5 gallon can you're a fucking retard or your definition of "remote" is outside the city limits.
>>
1L of gas isn't going to get you very far. Honestly in some really lucky turn of events it might actually be useful, but even then the situations it's becomes useful in are ones you could solve fairly easily without it. If you're in remote areas with a truck and are worried about gas a jerry can or even external tank is smarter. Like the Anon previous to me said exteneral tanks are on every truck that actually goes away from civilization for long periods of time. Why? Because depending on size you can hold enough fuel to triple your range easily. The biggest I know is about 600-700 L which would your range 7x longer. The common ones are 300-500L I think. If that's excessive because you're not being truthful about remote areas than a jerry can will work fine. Who cares if it's vented, store it in your truck box.

tl;dr if only 1L of fuel will get you to a gas station you're not in a remote area.

>what if it's cold out and your only a few kilometres away
Call a fucking friend, co-worker or a service designed to handle those situations. In the year 2015 if you don't have a cellphone with you it's your own fault.

>what if no service
Well if you're actually somewhere you should have a signal booster or y'know also just carry a jerry can or use an external tank.

Next time you need fuel and a man approaches you with a 1L bottle. Make sure to laugh at him and tell him to fuck off.
>>
>>13896580
Gas stations where I live are easily 20 miles between them, if not more at times. Not to mention my Land Cruiser gets a wonderful 12 miles a gallon.

It's better to keep your car filled up, and keep a jerry can.
>>
>>13897646
I bought all my jerry cans from Milsurp stores for $5-$15 each, depending on condition and size.

Or you could just carry an emergency kit in your vehicle, with a lighter and some fire starter packets.

Besides, those bottles are for camp stove fuel, like white gas, kerosene, etc.

>>13894357

>help another person who ran out of fuel

How about they get a fucking AAA/CAA membership? You have to be STUPID AS FUCK to run out of gas, seriously. It's literally the dumbest fucking thing a driver can do to their car, next to never changing the oil.

I can't even stand when people come and ask me for fuel when I'm camping/hiking. It's happened 3 times in the last two years, the last incident was some fuckin gook in flip flops with his stupid FOB family. These niggers had a propane camping stove, and were asking me for my white gas. I kept telling him it wouldn't work, and he kept getting more creative with his offers. Said he'd trade me his cooler for some fuel, like some motherfuckin bazaar in his Cambodian homeland.

There's being a nice person, and then there's getting what you deserve. If you run out of gas, you deserve it.

How long can you keep a full jerrycan of fuel in your vehicle? I don't think fuel goes bad or anything, but still, I'm curious.
>>
>>13901719
fuel does degrade, but it typically takes atleast 9 years.
>>
>>13901728

9 years? Wow. I figured if I get a minivan and I take some road trips I might wanna bring one along.
>>
>>13901719
Depends on a lot of factors, but guzzoline can keep for months on end. I personally wouldn't try going past 6 just to stay on the safe side. I have heard of guzzoline lasting for few years before it goes bad.
>>
>>13901719
Basically it will slowly lose octane. Some say it starts at 30 days and that may be true but it's still fine to use to till about 6 months. It will also collect water due to condensation

If you do plan to keep fuel around for more then a few months it's a good idea to add some stabilizer
>>
>>13894318
This would be a fucking mess trying to pour fuel out of that water bottle into the filler neck.

That's why the fuel additive bottles have long necks like
>>13894412
>>
>>13901760
no, just no. Gasoline blends actually change with the seasons. It's not favorable to run old gas because of that and it does degrade rather quickly. It will still fire up an engine and run but it's not what it used to be and the blend maybe incorrect for the current weather.
>>
>>13901825
Motorcycles don't have filler necks.

>>
>>13901738
well thats the only car ive ever had not start due to bad gas.

the only car close to that old was one that had sat for a year. so you might be safe after a year and a bit.
>>
>>13901867
My Speed Triple only has a low level light too. Doesn't mean I need this retarded product. Know what your range, and check he tank level if you think it may be low. It's that simple.
Don't be a retard.
>>
>>13901941
Idiot lights don't always work, and sometimes the places you go on long trips may have in you in a spot where the range of whats left won't be enough to get you to a gas station, and add to that many places I ride to have no cell phone signal whatsoever.

That being said its use is limited obviously, more of a security blanket that anything.
>>
>>13901941

Wait, so motorcycles don't have a fuel level gauge? Just a light that comes on?
>>
>>13901978
Varies from bike to bike. Some have a gauge, some have a light and some have nothing at all. You're supposed to know your range and plan accordingly
>>
>>13901973
>idiot lights don't always work
While that's true, when your motorcycle only holds 18L it's pretty straight forward keeping tabs on how much is actually in it.
>literally open cap
>look inside
>>13901978
Some have a gauge, but a lot don't. Like I mentioned though, on a bike, it's completely unnecessary.
>>
>>13901995

>plan accordingly

Wow gee that sounds like the fun motorcycle experience I've always wanted. Better PLAN MY DAY including when I break for lunch so I can TAKE MY BACK PILLS and REST MY ARTHRITIC KNEES.

It's really not an issue. Bikes usually get great fuel economy and most have a reserve tank that can go 30km or so. After the first few rides you have a good idea what your range is so you just reset the trip metre when you fill up
