Alright /o/, in the market for my first car. I'm 18 so insurance is gonna be a fuck, so I need advice. I want:
>Smallish
>Relatively quick/responsive
>Small engine
>Unassuming
>Cheap
Doesn't have to be all of them, but idk where to start

Beat me to it. You can't beat the reliability and performance of older Toyota cars.

yeah. it's a good first car, imo. easy as hell to drive, reliable(if you don't get a fucked up one), cheap aftermarket, and replacement parts aren't that bad. plus, chuchu.

Nah. Mk3 jetta 2.0. Or a vr6, but he said small engine.
Some ~2000 VW TDI
>around 60-70kW so insurance is cheap
>250 Nm of torkz
>can be easily driven with 50+ MPG
>reliable
>cheap

it's an option. op is asking for something quick with small engine and mk4 1.8ts aren't that expensive. at least not in new england.
>>13895054
the 1.8t is also a garbage motor. 2.0 and vr6 are much better.

>2.0 NA VW
>Good engine

1.8t is notoriously unreliable and has an expensive turbo that will inevitably need to be replaced.
2.0 is a simple motor, easy to work on and replacement motors are cheap.
