kill self?
>>
>>13841817
yes.
>>
Just get an m62 off an old Mercedes and the manifold base from a 3800 sc car. Unless it's also an a/t, then an hero is your only option
>>
>>13841857

>just do a really long, arduous, expensive swap
>its easy
>>
>>13841866
Under 1k and it's almost as easy as changing an intake manifold. Not a swap. Adding a blower that came on a lot of FWD cars with the same 3800v6.

>so hard
>>
>>13841926
but its rwd
i cant afford that anon
i passed up miatas, integras, impreza outback sport wagons, CRX, camry for this car
I want to go FAST
I want to beat up takumi
>>
>>13841978
The men that fuck you don't care what you drive. Be glad you're a bottom or we would be teasing the shit out of you.

He's saying to take the supercharger off a fwd GM with the same engine and put it in yours retard.
>>
>>13841817
i would just drive it like i stole it when no ones watching

if you total it, it wont hurt as much
>>
>>13841926
Swapping a blower onto the RWD F-body 3800 is more expensive than just doing an LS swap. It's been done, but it isn't cheap like it is with the FWD cars. You have to be a true whore for shit engines to go through with it.

Besides. The 3800 is a piece of shit engine
>>
So this car can't be fixed ?

not cheaply. step-mom has a 99 V6 Fireturd, so I've looked into the options. Easier just to sell it and buy one worth modifying. If you want a V6 F-body to modify, you want a 60* V6 engine from a 1982-1995 Camaro/Firebird. The engine platform has significant advantages, on paper, over the 3800. Aftermarket support, at least in RWD form, is pretty similar.
pic related.
That said, best engine to modify will always be the V8 model.
>>
>>13841817
How hard is an Ls/lt swap?

Not OP, but hardtops 4thgens are getting hard to find. A "cheap" and "easy" swap might be the answer

first off this is my bird its a 3.8 with a 3.73:1 rear end full exhaust, intake, and ignition plus tune and i have smoked v8 cars from mustangs to trans ams. its amazing to see the look on their face when i tell em its a v6. oh i forgot i also have a rear mounted turbo at 6 psi for a bit of extra umph. hehehe. its a viable platform but an LS is much better as im making 400 hp 435 ft/Ibs tq and have spent a shit ton on this car. as i think of it now i wish i would have swapped but its my baby and i enjoy it as it is. its your choice an LS fits perfectly and it takes an experienced wrencher about a week to properly biuld and swap an ls and gor about 1-5 grand you can make 300 -550+ hp but the whole sleeper aspect is great. also the 3800 is a fuckin tank. mines never had any problem even after all my additions it runs like a dream.
>>
>>13842652
you need the front sub-frame, transmission, and engine. Not exactly a simple seap
>>
>>13842731
That's actually cool as shit.

Not what i would spend my money on, but that has to be a greeat fuckin sleeper
>>
>>13841817
Just go to your local junk yard and get an ls for $500
>>
>>13842766
A quick google sez a front subframe runs about $500

Not that bad, but I know enough to know that it's the little things that make a swap expensive and time consuming
>>
>>13842804
It has to be the sub-frame from a LS1 V8 car. The LT1 V8 cars had a different sub-frame.
Transmission cross-member is also auto/manual specific.
This swap the the one that will nickel and dime you to death. The T56 manual is the most expensive part to get.
obviously wiring harness, ECU, shifter and cluster need changing.

engine to get depends on your budget. You can pick up a 4.8L or 5.3L Truck engine for under $500. Anything that has an actual LS in it's RPO code name is going to run you a few grand though. 4.8L engines can be had as low as $250, and have everything that makes the LS engines so great.

Does this car have any redeeming features

looks, handling, reliability...

Handling? It's shittier than a miata , awful straight line car
Could you imagine trying to touge or track it?
>>
>>13842910
no
>>
>>13842925
They had an optional 1LE suspension package for homologation purposes for SCCA racing. Believe it or not, the F-body has always been a decent handling platform

What's so bad about these cars

If you don't modify the blower extensively, you have to cut the firewall to get it to fit. It's more work than most people should be willing to put into a V6 car

>Hating on the 3800
>Thinking the 3400 is better

Stolen Recaros I like you and all but you are really, really dumb. You have that backwards. The 3400 is the biggest piece of shit engine GM made in the 90's. The 3800 was simply one of the best.

I had my 3400 in my '99 GA GT blow the intake gasket, and then a few months later blow one of the head gaskets.

I've never had a problem with my 3800 that wasn't something I fucked up on it. My 3800 see's WOT and redline every time I take it out. I bounce it off the rev limiter. I'm really not nice to my 3800 and it just keeps going and going.

The 3800 has reliability going for it and that is it. It sounds like shit no matter what you do to it. Even your Firechicken sounds like shit. It's a 3800 thing. Meanwhile a 3400 sounds glorious with an exhaust.

They changed the gasket designs on the 3100/3400 engines in 2002 to stop the gasket blowing. Same year Cadillac did the same for the Northstar V8s, and the same year Subaru did the same for the EJ25/EJ22.

I never said the 3800 wasn't reliable. Just that is is worse in every way on paper when compared to the 60* V6's, which it is. The 3100/3400 have a 60* block, no balance shaft, aluminum heads, splayed valves, and newer models have VVT. Hell, all 3100/3400/3500 engines are backwards compatible and easily made OBD1 or OBD2. On paper, the 60* engines have everything the 3800 wishes it had. The 3800 was just cheaper to make.

I have enormous respect for the 3800, but it's still a shitty engine. It needed a blower to make 240 HP. And it never makes enough HP N/A to justify the displacement. I'm not talking about 100 HP per liter, but at least 300 HP N/A from 3.8 fucking liters would be great. It doesn't even make 1 HP per cubic inch N/A, which is something Chevrolet managed in the fucking 1950's.

I recommend 3800's all day long to normies because the engines are reliable and can take any abuse you throw at it. Hell, I had an L67 my sister crashed into a telephone pole (pic related) that still ran without problem. But I refuse to recommend them as a tuning platform.

3400's and 3800's sound very, very similar. Sound is subjective; I personally like how 3800's sound. I'd like to fab up a true dual system for mine one day.

The fact that they changed the gaskets designs in the later years for the 3400 just means they knew they had a problem. I'll admit GM did the same with the 3800, they changed the intake gaskets from the plastic to aluminum. I put the aluminum ones in my 3800.

I disabled the balance shaft in my 3800. It isn't needed for operation. +5 RWHP, yo!

And I agree the backwards compatibility with the 60˚ V6's is great. You can mix 'n match and built the engine you want. I actually have coil packs from a junkyard 3400 on my 3800 after one of mine failed.

One thing I will say about the 3800 is that the stock exhaust manifolds are SHIT. I was amazed when I removed mine off my car, I couldn't believe how restrictive they were. I couldn't even stick my pinky finger past my O2 sensors. I'm certain those had huge HP drawbacks. Headers do wonders on a 3800, as they do on any engine.
The 3800 is built on old technology. GM didn't put a crazy cam in them, they were built for reliability and economy. It was never meant in GM's eyes to be a huge HP monster. The heads flow poorly.

THIS is why I'm such a whore for the 60* V6's. I LOVE Modular engines where you can mix and match parts to make the best one for your tastes. GM's Ecotec 4 banger is the exact same way.

As to 60* V6's sounding similar to 3800's, a 3800 could only dream of sounding this good.

I don't like that

If I ever got an F-body, it would probably be a 93-95 4th gen Firebird V6 (for muh modular 60* hybrid frankenengine) with a 98-02 Firebird front end conversion, and 1LE suspension.... and an IRS whenever Heidts can get around to making one for them.
