The focus, are you retarded? Fewer miles, faster, and more stuff will have been fixed over time as it wasn't owned by a jew

>changing your oil only every 12k miles
christ I get some people are too poor/jewish to change it every 3-5k but 12k is too much
>>
>>13841824
i have no idea how often the focus had its oil changed. i like the focus better as a car but it's really important for practical staying alive reasons that i get a car that (1) does not break down on me or (2) has breakdowns that are cheap to get fix or easy to fix myself
>>
>>13841824
i really get the impression the sentra owner took better care of his car. he seems like a 4chan autist kind of guy

what this says to me is that you're an idiot who doesn't read owner's manuals.

E100 corolla
Both those cars you posted are shit
>>
>>13841898
holy shit i can take a car to a shop and they'll give me this kind of detailed information? this has to be a joke
>>
>>13841755
I'd lean towards the ford due to the lower mileage, but if you need a/c in your region than go with the sentra.
>>
>>13841912
>E100
i have one E100 wagon under consideration. 180k miles, 1995, single owner. you really think it would break down less?

It's from a lab doing oil analysis.

It's an "a" block corolla.
It's indestructible. Plus wagon corollas are sex
>>
>>13841932
My friends corolla has 150k on it
From 80k to 140 he never changed his fucking oil
It was also running on like 3 quarts that whole time
>>
>>13841920
No google blackstone labs, used oil analysis.
>>
>>13841932
Minus the stance. Unless you like that.
>>
>>13841940
hold on the same guy who said i deserved a shitty car when i was considering an saturn ion posted this pic. whadup you fucking dickhead?

and yes the corolla is beautiful and practical. i get scared when i see 180k miles on anything
>>
>>13841966
Good to see you're learning
>>
>>13841910
My owner's manual says to change it every 3750 miles/6000km or 3 months in severe conditions/extreme temperatures. Seeing as it's usually 95 degrees or above in Texas, I'm changing it that often.
>>
>>13841824
>still falling for the quick-change bullshit

Pretty much every new car sold today can go for at least 10k miles between oil changes.

You'll be fine my jeep just reached 185k today and it's still going strong. I'm sure a 95 corolla will out last my car.

all the way to 120k, then they shit it

>>13842052

look i'd love the corolla but it's really critical the car i'm gonna be driving/sleeping in for a few months DOES NOT BREAK DOWN. over the next few months do you really think a 95 corolla w/ 180 miles will break down less than the cars i listed?
>>
>>13842036
Someone ran 20yr old oil in an elantra for 6.6k miles, and the oil analysis turned out fine.

>>13842077
Bet the engine looked like this afterwards
>>
>>13842083
That sludge is rather severe... Looks like someone skipped 5-7 ocis. A 6.6k mi. oil change isn't going to hurt any engine, conventional or synthetic. The worse that will happen is the internals might stain a bit from varnish.
>>
>>13842071
Corollas are known to be bulletproof man
>>
>>13842071
Well I understand your concern, any car with 180k mi. is a red flag and maintenance items may be in its future. If not breaking down is crucial than look at one of the other cars you listed. I personally like the ford due to its lower mileage.
>>
>>13842134
Sure the block/internals/heads may be bulletproof, but water pumps; timing belts; and other wear items are not.
>>
>>13842148
You mean all those super cheap and easy to replace items.
>>
>>13842157
I'll give you that, but OP stated its crucial that it "DOES NOT BREAK DOWN" for a couple of months, and any of those things can decide to go within a couple months depending on its service history.
>>
>>13842148
would stuff i can expect to break be cheap to fix? the corolla is pretty cheap; can i just take it to a trusted mechanic (they have to be out there somewhere) and say "replace everything on this car you reasonably expect to break".

is there anything i can expect to be able to fix? i've never worked on a car but am used to following detailed instructions in technical manuals for computer-related work
>>
>>13842177
That can happen with any car though. So why not have one with massive parts available and cheap

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/130-7th-generation-1993-1997/380294-diy-timing-belt-water-pump-replacement-corolla-93-97-a.html

Or if you feel like that's out of your scope general maintenance items would be: spark plugs & wires (I feel like anyone can do these even you), water pump, and timing belt. But also remember a car is more than an engine and transmission, so make sure you check the upper/lower ball joints, sway bar end links, cv axels, etc etc.
>>

jew from india, served in iraq, unusual life story, i liked him
>>

Looking at that forum post I'm sure my 15 yr old son could do this, these are really easy maintenance items and as >>13842185, >>13842157 said they're cheap and readily available and that engine bay looks pretty roomy to work in as well.

i can reasonably expect an old ass corolla with that many miles not to have any major mechanical issues that would cost more than $1000 to repair?

Just a side note, make sure you check out the cv axels. If the boots are torn make sure you tell the owner and knock down the price a bit. This repair is ~$400 alone at a shop.

corolla wagon guy says it has bad rear struts, 188k miles, wants to be paid in paper money, doesn't have smog, raised the price by $100 when we agreed on $1500 when i texted him last, barely speaks english, and will only sell it at that price if i buy the car before wednesday.

sentra or focus?

I vote sentra. Focus had too many problems
>>
>>13842621
Sentra, looks like it had competent owners.
>>
>>13842026
The vintage of a car has nothing to do with when the oil brakes down and starts to shear.

White men change when the oil starts to turn to shit, which is around 3k miles in most situations.

Enjoy your engine wear, because you're a dumb kike or a woman.

>>13842658

>>
>>13842621
Focus.
>>
oh this is funny tho

>>
>>13842658
>oil starts to turn to shit, which is around 3k miles in most situations.
Oils with the API-SN Certification (white men run it) usually last 5k+. Color has nothing to do with oil durability, you look at the total base number (TBN). By your logic diesel engines should always change their oil before they start up.
>>
The Focus if its manual. It's more fun to drive.
>>
>>13842658
And just to show that oil that has been sitting for 20 years is good: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3812480/I__ran_20_year_old_oil_in_my_c#Post3812480

Damn fag, just by a Corolla so you won't sperg out iver shit when and if it would go awry.
>>
>>13843315
could you quote the part where i chastise her?

i do judge car buyers as a way to gauge how well the car's been taken care of.

let's say there are two civics, and i have nothing else to go on concerning the quality of the cars except for meeting the owners. if civic one is owned by a super-serious guy with a phd and civic two is owned by a 17 year old who works at mcdonalds, you bet your ass i'm making a judgement that civic one was *likely* taken care of better.

so far the votes are evenly split, 5 for sentra, 5 for focus.

if it turns out the focus owner is lying/ignorant and the air conditioning doesn't work because of something more serious than needing coolant would that affect the general operation of any other part of the car? air conditioning really isn't a big deal to me and i don't mind putting off getting it fixed for a while.

Corolla, 98' sedan 1.3
It is selling for 1000$. It has 224 000 kilometers on it.
It would be my first car. And I am not all knowledgable on things yet, so I want to learn on a shitbox. I will ask the owner to test it according to the sticky. But I want you to point out maybe a few things I am missing.
I will provide as much info as I can if someone points it out to me.

>>
>>13842621
I've owned both. All in all Theyre both pretty solid cars. The Sentra is a bit simpler, and as a general rule fewer features=less shit to break (especially the rear suspension) but they like to rust so really check for that
