Tom's usdm
Gutted hatch so its cold as fuck, the windows are always fogged up, fishtails in the rain.
I wish I lived in Cali.
Did my first alteration to the car this evening. I removed the clutch pedal spring and now it feels like a different car. Normally, the clutch pedal consistently feels like you are stepping on air, but now there is some resistance when the clutch engages and some springiness when you let off. Considering I learned manual in this car it's time to relearn manual.

I advise all BRZ/FRS/GT86 owners to lurk on ft86club.
Have side skirts coming in 2-3 weeks.
Lay into me.

you'll have the fastest-looking slow car in your neighbourhood, man. good job.
>>13843467
its mostly chodes
>>13843677
Thanks man, I'm saving for a turbo next :)
Are the tires really that low on traction, and does the engine actually have a noticeable power deadzone in the midrange?
>>13843711
The stock tyres are pretty average, and the car does have a torque dip in the midrange, a tune clears that up though.
>>13843675
Looks good.
>>13843718
Thanks man.
>>13843682
I thought centrifugal supercharger was the way to go with these?
>>13843713
Yeah, I thought that mid-range torque dip was weird, and was wondering if the testers were just nitpicking. They seem like great cars for the most part.
>>13843736
I have heard that superchargers ARE better....but I want sutututu lol
>>13843711
other various criticisms I've read and heard by reviewers include poor brake feel (a stopper fixes that) and tramlining on the 17s (it's actually set up for 16 inch wheels)
>>13843741
They most definitely are. They handle great and while they aren't the most power-packed things, they have plenty of power for daily driving and for when you're hitting up them mountains :)
Not to mention the availability of aftermarket parts.
>>13843467
They make aftermarket springs that add a lot of good feel too. I've heard that the clutch cylinder is where the real upgrade is.
All I have done is slightly lower the position of my clutch pedal. I've gotten used to the feel of the stock clutch.
>>13843467
heh and I thought my gumbiness with the clutch was just me being a bad.
Thanks, I'll definetly look into that.

>wanting an 86 for drags
pfffffft since when has going as fast as possible been the only thing fun about cars
Love this car, one day I'll buy it
>>13843736
>>13843748
if you have the money I would recommend the sprintex 335 (they go by innovate in the states i think) probably the most powerful SC on the market for the brz.

They're mainly for stability during turns, m8.
>>13844345
They're mainly for looks unless you are regularly at the track
I want my first own personal car, I was debating between an 86, Fiesta or Focus ST, or older WRX STI Hatch.
Honestly, I'd prefer a hatchback, and living in the mountains the AWD of the Subaru seems nice. My old Corolla is finally dying after 500k miles, and I wanted an upgrade.
Wat do?
>>13844606
Go test drive cars?
>>13844720
I have tested all of them besides the 86, but none of my local dealers have a BRZ/FR-S.
Nearest dealer I have to drive several hours.
thinking about picking up a hyperblue in a few weeks. i've got a few questions:
benefits of superchargers vs turbochargers?
is the back seat usable at all?
i test drove one but was alone and couldn't quite grasp the size.
is it possible to drive in the winter of the NE?
>>13844791
Hyperblue is no different than base BRZ. Get a supercharger, reliable and doesn't require any supporting mods
>>13844747
If you live in the mountains with alot of snow I'd rather have the sti hatch too. I don't think the 86 handles all that great in the snow and if you want more space the car is pretty small. Only thing I hate is the heavy ricer tax on used sti they are so expensive its almost worth it to just get a new one.
>>13844791
You don't even own the car and you're thinking about forced induction? Just drive the car before fucking it up with random mods.
Good luck finding a manual hyperblue, they are almost all sold out.
>>13844791
>is the back seat usable at all?
Backseats in sportscars are for storage, m8.
You only ever have two people in your car; yourself and your girl.
>>13843748
>sutututu
what does this mean
>>13846035
its an onomatopoeia for the sound a turbo makes
Currently have rod knock in one of the cylinders, and lost 5th and 6th gear.

>plastidipped badge
OF COURSE WHY WOULDN'T IT BE PLASTIDIPPED
Fucking unoriginal fuck. How about you spend all the money making your car look fast on a car that is actually fast
>>13847800
None of us really care it's not fast. You all keep throwing it out there like it's insulting or something.
>>13847312
how many miles? why haven't you taken into dealer for warranty work
>>13847312
Let me guess, you bought it used?

wat
my shitbox peugeot from a decade ago has more power at lower 2k lower rpm than the 2015 miata
is the brz that weak, i like them
>>13848575
Are you even considering the weight of miata?
>taking the SRT-4 winter beater out for the first time last week
>at a stoplight, 86 next to me in right lane
>right lane ends and merges into left lane about 150 feet up the road
>light turns green
>he floors it
>kek alright kid
>by the time we reach the merge, I am ahead by two car lengths
>I am on snow tires
>I am bone stock except for a K&N filter

Those cars are so embarrassingly slow. I was spinning the tires above 5000 in every gear and still made him look like he was going backwards.
