Jesus Christ, dude. Don't you have a father?

He was there when I bought it.
That's the sad thing.

Always check market prices for the same car if you don't know anything about cars... its usually an indicator. I drove this car for about 10 minutes once on a 4 hour trip and got out cause it was so shit.
>>
>>13839307
I'll keep that in mind for my next car.
I'm saving up for a new one
>>
>>13839297
Well your dad is a good damn idiot.
>>
>>13839325
I realized this after I started to do my own research
>>
>>13839333
How it feels going through car ads and see what you could have for that money but you have saturn?
>>
>>13839156
Better be the redline edition with like $2,000 cash rolled up in the ashtray
>>
>>13839355
Honestly I feel like shit that I can't do anything about it.

But I am also happy because I'll get a new car soon
>>
$5,800 for a Saturn ion? With over 100,000 miles?

You could have gotten plenty of cars better than that. I've seen v8 mustangs on Craigslist with fewer miles that costed less.

U dun goofed.
>>
>>13839384
Pics of said car, it could be nicer than we think?
>>
>>13839156
You can easily buy a redline/ss supercharged for 4,xxx-6,xxx. 5.8k for a base, op definitely fucked up
>>
>>13839384
Are you selling Saturn already? Faster you sell it more will you get. How much is it even priced where you live?
>>
>>13839399
No I don't think someone would buy this piece of shit. I gave up on all hope

Just by chance. Is your Saturn a "Redline" model? They're supercharged with a better engine than the base models had. If you actually got a Redline then it'd be worth what you paid and actually is a good car.

Redline models have pic related badge on the trunk.

The non boosted models aren't worth much and you definitely overpaid.

Also can identify the Redline model by the front bumper. Note the lack of an opening between the hood and bumper. Different openings in the lower part of the bumper and little scoops on the sides. Redline models should also have two tone interiors if I remember correctly.

For your sake I hope it's a Redline.
>>
>>13840244
>>13840261
Redline it is not, see.
>>13839433
>>
>>13839156
5.8k pesos god you guys
>>
>>13839307
This.

Literally one of the most disappointing cars I've driven. They shouldn't have made a coupe, that implies it is somewhat fun to drive.

Just fucking awful.
>>
>>13839156
>5.8k for a 11 year old shitbox with 120k miles
shit op
>>
>5.8k
>2004
>120k miles
Yikes.

even a stealership was trying to sell me one at 3.3k.
it's a decent car for what it's really worth (2k-), but you way overspent. just learn from this, I guess.

>>13840369
Damn, if it was a redline, it would have been fine.
>>
The Ion is pretty much the same as a Cobalt, they're built on the same GM platform.

It should have a bit of life left depending on what the previous owner did/didn't do to it.

You overpaid but I know people who have paid more for older vehicles in worse shape.
>>
>>13839156
You did. My ex paid $5900 for a 2005 ion with 85000km (50,000 miles). That was 3 years ago.
>>
>>13839355
How does it feel to be Chinese?
>>
>>13839391
I've got one with a perfect body, that runs high 11s- low 12s, if someone offered me $5,800 for it I'd drive them to the DMV myself.

A mustang that is, not a Saturn.
>>
>>13840656
Is it a Fox? Clean New Edge SN-95 GTs can still pull more than that where I live.
>>
>>13839537
You probably also bought it from an elderly female family member, which doesn't count. Anyway, hope your W-body doesn't have issues that snowball together.
>>
>>13840664
It's a 94 with a stroker and a whole bunch more.

I want to avoid mistakes as well so this seems like the right thread to ask.

2002 toyota celica
144k miles

$4190

Should I go for it?
>>
>>13840775
Tell em 3500 take it or leave it.
>>
>>13839156
Just bought a 2002 Subaru wrx turbo with 102k miles for 5k, you spent more on a saturn....
>>
>>13840787
I'll try.

I'm not very good at discussing prices.
>>
>>13840787
Here's a part of the description

>Its got a new head, new belt, new battery, new radiator, new tires, tune up

Does that make it worth the initial price?
>>
>>13840807
>wrx
>turbo

Yeah, no shit. The WRX and STi are the turbo models, the regular ones are the Impreza and 2.5RS.

>$5k
Must be nice.

http://kansascity.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=wrx
>>
>>13840808
It's not as hard as it seems. I'm autistic as fuck when it comes to social situations. But the last car I negotiated for a friend had $3900 on the window. We walked out that day with the car, tax, registration, a new battery, trans flush, full tank of gas, lunch, and three free oil changes, for $2775.
>>
>>13840817
The new head means they likely had a serious problem. Could mean future problems caused by that problem. Would be weary, and ask about the head.
>>
>>13840817
>new radiator, new belt, new head
That means the last head got warped because he overheated it because of a broken belt (water pump maybe)
>>
>>13840823
indeed it is
>>
>>13840731
>tfw when working with $2k

Luckily I found the cheap explorer I wanted but what a bitch.

>>13839156
You are a stupid piece of shit, who the fuck buys a Chevrolet for $5.8k? Are you a fucking nigger by any chance?
>>
>>13840836
>>13840844
I never thought of this. Hopefully I can use this information to help lower the price.
>>13840831
I'll give it a go then. I'm looking at other offers as well so I don't absolutely need this.
>>
>>13839450
According to bluebook I can sell my beat to shit volvo 240 for 700$. Sweet.
>>
>>13839537

Like what, they're pretty much rock solid if maintained.
>>
FINALLY My 24 hour ban is up and I can post again!

>>13839411
If you bought the automatic model, sell that shit ASAP no matter what kind of loss you have to take.
My step-mom had a 04 Ion coupe with the CVT automatic (oddly enough, the only difference beteen her Ion and mine was that mine has a 5 speed manual transmission). She went through 3 transmissions in 100k. 30k is about the average length for those transmissions to survive. The VTi CVT they used was such a problem-child that the only years you could have it in anything were 2002-2004 2.2L Vue's, and 2003-2004 Ion coupe's.

The 5 speed manual is bulletproof

And YES You overpaid for this hunk of shit. You could've had my 04 Ion coupe with 88,600 miles for $4k. You got ripped the fuck off.
>>
If it makes you feel better, I bought a 2005 Cobalt LT for 7k in 2011. It was kinda nice cause it had heated leather seats and power everything... but none of it worked. Lesson learned, move on and drive the shit out of it.
>>
>>13839156
>bought Saturn Ion
Stopped reading. You fucked up bad son
>>
It shocks me how stupid people are. My friend bought a mid 2000s base civic coupe for 5K, had like 150k miles too. I mean come on, do you not look into things you're spending a fuckton of money on?
>>
>almost $6k for a fucking ion with 120k miles

How did you even get yourself in this situation?

The guy that sold it to you is probably still laughing his ass off while getting his dick sucked by all the hookers he got with the money some idiot paid for his shitty ion
>>
Speaking of Saturn's, would this be a good choice for a first car?

autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=410881437
>>
>>13842633
Yup. price seems fine as well, since it's the Redline model.
>>
I think your first mistake was buying a saturn OP
Unless its a sky then thats kinda okay.
>>
>>13842679
The Ion is perfectly fine... if it's a 5 speed manual model.
and the S-series cars are unkillable.
and 04-07 Vues were available, from the factory, with a Honda V6
>>
>>13839156
oh my goodness op you could've gotten three 8/10 hookers to suck your dick and balls and lick your asshole and share their cocaine for an entire day with the money you overpaid on that saturn

they're pretty reliable tho. oh well
>>
>>13840680

Those cars will go 300k if you take decent care of them, and probably for less money in maintenance than a honda or toyota.
>>
>>13839156
HOLY SHIT SON YOU DUN FUCKED UP they stopped making them in 2010 for a reason. You got an OK model but you paid like 3x the price you should have
>>
>>13846586
>they stopped making them in 2010 for a reason
because the government said to or there would've been no bailout. Same reason Pontiac and Hummer were killed, and Saab was sold. They tried to sell Saturn to Penske, but the deal fell through when GM found out Penske planned to import Korean Renault-Samsung cars as Saturns.
>>
>>13839156

I drove some woman's manual one of these. Fucking awful shifter and did you guys even think about shopping around!?

Are... Are you financing?
>>
>>13839156

I would have been less disappointed in you if you bought a 2001 Saturn SC2 with 119k miles for $1,300, and then blew your saving on crack.

This is why you never go to a dealershit.
>>
>>13846625
at least the SC2 would have been fun and common sense
>>
>>13846600
>They tried to sell Saturn to Penske, but the deal fell through when GM found out Penske planned to import Korean Renault-Samsung cars as Saturns.
Thank fucking god GM put them to rest. I felt what GM did to Saturn (after learning their awesome history) was horrifying enough.
>>
>>13846633

SC2 is still based and the shifters aren't terrible. Fully loaded and 45 MPG!

Engine also welcomes boost.

Hey OP,>>13839156 enjoy your shenter mounted dash in a car that you paid twice the value of two years too late!
>>
>you will never own a limited edition SC2

why live?
>>
>>13846653
and the worst part of that is many Renault-Samsung cars share a majority of their parts with modern Nissans
