Less to do with designers and more to do with crash standards. The high sills on new cars are needed to meet side crash safety requirements, hense the small windows. It sucks, but not really a choice designers have

What's so bad about low, swept windshields? They're more aerodynamic.

Since when is aerodynamic bad?

Are people just forcibly making up new things to hate since new cars are getting so much better than the shit they fed us 5-15 years ago?
>>
>>13838863
>What's wrong with having poor visibility?
Gee I wonder. You can't dismiss legitimate issues as "HURR U GUYS JUST HATE NEW KARS"
>>
>>13838871
I can see out of most of these new cars just fine.

Wind height was never a problem. Overly thick pillars like that Nissan's C pillar is.
>>
AFAIK it's a crash safety thing. Ditto the THICK pillars on cars these days. And the high hoods I think is a pedestrian safety thing.
>>
>>13838489

How about we just band these 6klb trucks and huge SUVs?

Or make driving one a hassle so soccer moms stop buying them.

Only reason we have crossovers and no windows is because of these stupid trucks and SUVs that are needlessly bought

It is probably fine on gridline style flat roads but as soon as you start looking at oblique corners on a grade I often find myself having to ask my passenger if there is anything coming up the hill or if there is even a road where I am going. If no passenger then I have to lean over to peer out the passenger side window.

>manlet

At a flat 6'0" I think I have a better chance than most people in this world at seeing out of these things.

I had an idea a few years back about making a light commercial vehicle license

Basically it's a $500 tax stamp that will be refunded if you have a legitimate need for a vehicle over 4500lbs (farmer, hauling shit etc)

It would basically prohibit soccer moms from owning fuckhuge monstrosities, while allowing people with a legitimate need a way to keep them
>>
>>13839661
the glass has poor visibility in regards to previous iterations.
>>
>>13839661
No, it's half empty.
>>
>>13838975
>>13839715
I think a lot of us had that idea. But why refund it?

$1000 tax on registration for a 3000lb+ vehicle. $2500 for 4000lb+ vehicle.

Why can't commercial vehicles largely be made to be under 4000lb, too? Those US Mail trucks are 2700lb and hold 1000lb of cargo.

And if they really need a 4000lb vehicle, they still can, but they pay for making our roads less safe.

It's a vicious cycle where vehicles need more weight for more safety to survive impacts from vehicles that are heavy.
More old fat vehicles would be scrapped if they couldn't be sold because the $1000 or $2500 extra cost to register it isn't worth it.

Not really.

The '93 RX7 side intakes weren't functional, it just had that small opening in the middle that was actually used for the radiator and intercooler, and with the right mods it had fine cooling.

You really don't need an opening that big, and I'm sure it'll have plastic cladding if it is that big like the ND MX-5 has.

An opening the size the '99 FD has, with the radiator slanted the opposite way, and actually using side intakes for the intercooler would be perfectly sufficient.

That's a good thing.

The FD had nice proportions as far as FMR cars good. Wheels could have been further to the corners, though. I love the low ass hood and fender arches on the FE concept.

Maybe they'll put the transmission in the back, this time around. Only way I can see them achieving having the rear wheels so far back. That and they'd probably need some carbon fiber in the front.

I like small windows because of the added protection of the body. I don't need tall glass to see outside, just unobtrusive A-pillars so I can see a full 180 degrees around me. The rear window can be as small, and the C-pillars as thick as the designers want to make them, as long as I have a backup camera which has better visibility than any rear window could provide. This is my opinion.
