To think on November 10th two fucking years ago it was -5 and I was Dagumi in my Prelude because of the four inches of snow that was laid out the night prior. Iowa is so bipolar it's not even funny.

My Integra heater is the most consistent out of every Honda I've owned. The CRX had no heater core, so that sucked for the two weeks I owned the piece of shit.

How are prelude's for track?

I recebntly bought a 1994 Prelude with an h22a1 and I've enjoyed driving it. Track racing is something I've wanted to do for a while so I am considering using this car. I looked into the power this engine puts out and it's not too bad but the car is surprisingly heavy for what it is. Would /hg/ recommend I put my time and money into increasing the performance of this car?

So I've gotten this far into gutting out my 93 lude and I'm wondering why I didn't swap the h22 into a del sol instead. Even with tearing out the interior + A/C the car weighs about as much as a stock GSR ;_;

If anyone's interested in it I have a list of what everything I've removed from the car weights. I figure it could help someone out if they're considering doing some weight reduction themselves.

Exhaust parts are in the post. Car starting throwing an evac cel code or whatever. It's because of the cracked manifold. Good thing I've got a replacement on its way. New stereo and new speakers are on their way.

I looked how to swap out the speakers on this car and it seems pretty straight forward however I've never done speaker work before. Anyone have any experience or tops with messing with that stuff. I just pretty much remove old speaker, install new speaker. Right? Using same wires and all that business?

To the dude wanting to buy the 87 rt4wd civic, if you really, really like it buy it.

Just know the carb will fuck you in the ass repeatedly with no remorse (but doing a devac is not very hard and makes it much more simple)

So I got my timing belt and water pump changed on my crx at a shop. I supplied all the parts including cam, crank and oil pump seals. but they didn't change the oil pump seal, cause they said that you have to take down the oil pan to get to it.

is he telling the truth? either way I'm still kind of mad because I supplied the part for a reason. instead of calling to let me know it'd be extra it seems like the mechanic was just too lazy

Question.

But the plug is just proprietary nonesense. It's a positive and negative terminal with a plastic POS around it so you THINK you need that plug.

In my experience, car stereos have been incredibly simple. Like you said, it's probably just red/black, but I've never fucked with anything newer than 2001, and in one case I wired speakers in a 2010 Nissan Versa and it was red/black as well, but didn't have any stupid plugs. My favorite project was a head unit from a 2001 Jeep, and I wired it to work using a 12v adapter wall plug. There wasn't any security or anything so it was pretty easy.

$2500 is a bit steep for a 4th gen lude unless its in great condition or comes with the h22.

The h23 makes about 160hp which isn't too bad. I swapped the h23 out of my shitty 4th gen with an h22a1 (190hp) and its more fun now. If you are looking for something more track orientated look into getting a civic, del sol, or maybe a gsr teggy.

No not at all, get the prelude if you'd like to because as others have said the h23 is a good engine and I personally love 4th gen preludes. In my own 93 prelude Si I had the ability to swap the h23 with an h22 so I did, not because I hate the h23.

If you are looking into track or racing though you might want to look into other options. The 93 prelude you're looking at buying is 2900lbs and has 160hp. If you can find one, a 93 integra weights 2650lbs with 160hp. Just by those numbers I'm guessing the integra will have about a 0.6 second faster 0-60.

Weight reduction can go a long way with low displacement engines but it can only take you so far. My lude looks like >>13837650
on the inside + removed A/C and i've just gotten it down to 2600lbs.

I don't mean to discourage you at all about buying the prelude, if it's something you want to buy then go for it!

GSR, tho.
RS/LS should be in contention, just as easy to weight reduce, and the aftermarket is there if you really want more power.

I think the trackable Hondas are the Civic/CRX and Integra, the Prelude is more of a grand tourer but still capable.

I still can't get over that front overhang on Preludes since I noticed it the other day, but it makes sense, they wanted a long hood.
Unfortunately they can't put the wheels all the way forward without also pushing the engine farther forward and spoiling the weight.
So you're left with the compromised front, long hood that looks great, but large overhang.

I get 35-40 highway, 30-35 city with my 85 CRX (EW3)
My 87 is a EW2/D15a2, but doesn't run very well, if it did it _should_ average around 45 as well.

The best MPG I've gotten was 54mpg in the 85 CRX Si on a 400mi round trip, constant 50mph.

alright guys, found a factory spoiler for a 99 civic that I'd like to put on my '95. Is this as simple as painting it and then just drilling through my trunk? Is there an adequate source of power in the trunk for the spoiler light or do I need to run something from the front? I might be able to disconnect the current third brake light which is right up against the rear windshield and run that wiring into the trunk.

shit I'm actually not finding a whole lot that looks factory. The best I've found online is that you can get a factory style wing for a 6th gen and cut/re-fiberglass it down to fit a 5th. Other than that most of what I'm finding is ricey or a rear windshield visor

Build quality, suspension and looks go to the Prelude. I have no idea which one is faster in a straight line, however I'd lean to say the Focus possibly. The Prelude might do better around a track.

Pretty straight forward. Ran into an issue with the thermo control cables being really short and I had to really fanagle to get my arm in there to unclip them to pull out the whole thing.

Looks good. Sounds good on the stock speakers. Bought replacement speakers that should sound better than the paper cones that are in there now. Will do those tomorrow. Might have to dremel out the door speakers a bit. Crutchfield listed them as being 6.5 but they're closer to 6.25 so to get them to fit flush I might have to dremel a small amount of material around.

New stereo looks pretty good. Wanted something as one to stock looking as possible.

Fixed the idle. Just had to play with the screw. It isn't just under 1k like it should be but it's low enough.

Now my radiator fan is close to shitting the bed. Possible to just lube it up or should I just replace it? PO set it up to run continuously but I'm not even sure that's necessary. Never had temp issues.

I've gotten 49.5mpg long trip down hills and driving like a gramma. I generally get 30-35 and that's me revving up a bit.

Stuck at work people scheduled to take out equipment over this weekend. Just about everyone else said they would come in today. Last minute everyone is here on Sunday. I get to lug shit back and forth until underlings show up to give me a hand.
I don't want to risk a 64k sound board crushing me under its weight so I'll play it safe.

Thanks. I wanted a head unit with Bluetooth but I didn't want any of that shiny chrome shit that is like every other aftermarket head. So I went with this one. Fairly cheap too which is what I was looking for. I'll take a picture tonight when I get off of work to see what the lighting looks like. I read reviews that it can be a bit harsh and can't be dimmed but I'll see tonight.
