Let's talk about 60's-70's GT's to sports cars. What's your favourite? I've fallen in love with the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. Why don't they make more cars that look like it?
My favorite is definitely the 64 Ford Falcon, fastest rally car in the world at the time, held a stage record at Monte Carlo that wasn't broken until 1983.

Proof of this or are you just going to cling to an unfinished monte carlo?
Another awesome and similarly dominant Ford, this time in road racing, the Galaxie. Despite it's size it was 5 seconds/lap faster than the Jaguars and 10 seconds/lap faster than the Minis even on the tight UK tracks.
mini was the best

why is a falcon better than the lotus cortina?

I'm a pretty big fan of the Boss 302 Ford Mustang and other homologation versions of pony cars. Had a good racing record both at home and abroad. Damn fine car.

Its engine was meaty enough that it could make up for its relative lack of precision handling with great acceleration out of turns and high straight-line speed. Same reason the Galaxie did so well in BSCC.

They are pretty cool, I actually found a great deal on a vintage race prepped one when I was looking for a car a few years ago, but it was taxicab yellow, yellow interior, yellow engine, powdercoated yellow suspension parts, just way too much and it was done pretty well so I didn't want to rip it all apart to paint the jambs, underbody, etc. just to make it not yellow. Probably wouldn't have been as good for a street car as my Comet anyway, though it was further along so would have been easier to race.

the falcon? its engine wasnt really that great
what the 260v8? ummmmm

I believe that was still beefier than what it was up against for the most part. Did anything else at the time have a bigger engine?

Had a 289 making 305hp and weighed 2,156lbs dry. Considering the Windsor won Lemans multiple times I'd say it is a pretty good engine

Early 60s American cars are very interestingly designed. You can sort of see the transition away from '50s styles in progress.
