2 guys in our riding group ride a hyosung and a kymco, 125cc thoughs.

Hyosung one is wrenching every two seeks to fix something or change out the wear parts. He said take the maintenance for a normal motorcycle and divide it by 3, then you have hyosung interval.
Kymco one has electrical problems, even after "fixing" (disconnect and reconnect battery) it goes to shit few days later again, it only has ~5000km so this shouldn't happen anyway.

I don't know how much you can trust this though, they're both 16 and I dunno if they're actually that experienced mechanically.

Consider buying a bike, but I dont in what style to get. I want something that can easily handle the tightly curved and poorly maintained Texas hill country back roads, but wont slowly sterilize me during long highway drives. Each style and company has something to offer that I like the look of (other than touring or off-roaders), but I just dont know what would better suit my needs. >How long you been riding
I've owned my own bike since mid-august (this one for about 2 weeks), but I've ridden motorcycles since I was 15 or so, and fucked around with 50cc dirtbikes when I was 4-8

I have put down about 6000 miles on my own bikes though.

>how nice are the streets
Depends on where you go. There's some that are gray asphalt with barely any cracks, no tar snakes, etc and nice long flowing turns into tight twisty ones (although there are a few that are currently riddled with gravel, hence why I don't push my bike super hard)

Other roads are absolute shit though, full of potholes, cracks, bumps, etc. Generally I can still get a good amount of lean on them and generally fry off chicken strips if the tires are warm, it's just a lot more iffy thanks to my back wheel bouncing around a considerable amount.

Once you get another bike we could maybe do another bay area bike meet. The guy that did it with me last time is an AFM racer and can't tolerate the shitposting here anymore.

>>13819636
I'm not a tire guru and I'm an A- track rider on my best day so I'm probably not the the best person to ask. I just know about setting up a bike properly for either track or mountain speeds. From the racers and "tire gurus" I know, I could tell you that multi-compound isn't a factor in their choice of tire. For street everyone's go to is the Q3, Pilot Power, or S20 but if you want a street and track tire then the BT003RS is the way to go.

Hey dbt, I just bought my first bike. 1979 honda xl250s. It's in great condition and the motor runs strong and everything is in order except that it won't idle at all. If I shut the throttle off, it dies. Sounds like a carb problem, right? Maybe something to do with the pilot jet?

I'll share my opinion too.

I own a DRZ400. It makes a decent street tard. It is pretty slow but below 40mph it still has enough accelerating power for most situations. It generally doesn't require tons of maintenance. Carb sucks. Weight sucks mainly if you go off-road.

I have ridden a KTM 450exc. It feels a lot faster and lighter than the DRZ. Many torks. The RFS engine is known to be pretty reliable. Some have been known to go 40k+ miles on original parts when not ridden like an absolute madman and maintenance is taken care of. I tried to buy this bike from bro but he wouldn't sell.

I spend most of my time on BARF but I'm the only bikefag that goes to N/o/rcal meets. I don't know if a nice size bay area /dbt/ meet will ever happen so you should just attend some N/o/rcal meets from time to time. I'll probably run into you at a barf rally or group ride if you namefag while posting your next bike. Good luck with the next purchase, now is the perfect time to buy a bike around here.

kek that bike cost me $7k m8. Supposedly MV Agusta F4s are bulletproof. Only weakpoint is the cooling system, and I've already invested the $100 to fix the only issues with it. I'm not worried about the bike breaking at all. Just upkeep.

You poor bastard. This is my typical route, just south of Chicago.

BTW BasedChicagoAnon this is the route, I finally figured it out with a friend today. Link related: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7076813,-88.0154487,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!6m1!1szHeTS2CxaV-0.kEdvd76lM8xg

I think that's how I share it anyway.

LSD would be great if it weren't for the construction. Nice that they're almost done though. Head down here, you can literally run this route right off of I-55. You can skip the Willow Springs Road portion as well, since it's under construction so a good portion of it is shit currently.

Nah, the radiator is only supported from the left side, so it has a habit of snapping. a $25 bracket fixes that issue, the other one is the plastic radiator fan that sits right next to the headers, which is replaced by a $75 aluminum radiator fan that plugs right in.

Yeah they're a hastle. I'm a fucking cashier and nobody knows how to use the damn things, so I have to walk around and show everybody. It takes way longer for every transaction even it they know what they're doing. To make it worse my store has a bar under the insertion point that nobody thinks to put the card through, so everybody bends their cards at a ridiculous angle to shove it in and then complains to me about how it is in the way. People shake the damn card reader off its hook trying to put their cards in the wrong way.

Roughly 70 miles. Generally there's not much traffic.

That little "loop" right after getting off I-55 for the first time is our midpoint, which is a 7-eleven we usually stop at for a bit to grab food and rest our asses.

Recently there was since we were running it at 1:30P on Sundays instead of 4P due to the sun being a nigger, but once spring rolls around generally that's the popular route for every Sunday. Otherwise we're rolling up to Sheridan and enjoying that route.

No gopro footage though.

Nah. I rarely pull that stupid shit. I'm a proper rider, only 1/4" of chickenstrip left on the left side of the rear tire right now, and I haven't taken it to the track yet. That comes in Spring.

>>13820041
Well I had to build credit. Realistically I just triple my payments every month, so even though the loan "term" is for 4 years, it'd only amount to an extra $1k in interest, and I'm going to have it paid off before 2 years. I'm also the type of person who likes to drive things until the wheels fall off, so it's not an issue for me.

>>13820045
>Do you ever try riding at night? after 1am when there's rarely any cars?

Too dark. The roads don't have any streetlights or anything, and there's a lot of wildlife that likes to fuck shit up around the highways, so it's a very iffy route late at night. Sometimes I'll just cruise them for the scenery. The first section of bluff road is absolutely beautiful at night after a week of rain.

>>13820052
>where's the fluid reservoir?
Coolant is just underneath the ignition, that plate pops off, brake and clutch fluid reservoirs are curved and sit behind the levers like on all bikes,

Also here's a CBR954RR after the fairings cracked off at 163mph on the highway.

Did you check your spark? Easiest way to do this is to jam a screwdriver into the spark plug cap and then put the metal part of the screw driver on the metal part of the engine block to see if it sparks.

Also check your ignition coils to see if they're plugged in.
>>
>>13820223
i had no time to check for anything other than physically look at things and everything was plugged in. my first thought was that someone had taken a fuse or put a bad spark plug in or took something else off so he would know it would be there overnight to steal it. could be.

I have a dedicated sat nav, so I don't need to see my phone. It's either in my pocket, or in my tank bag in the charger, with a headphone going underneath my jacket. Don't want to know what that does to my ear when I fall off it.
