The automatic boasts 40 less hp than the manual and has an open diff as opposed to a limited slip differential. Basically you got none of the redeeming fun parts of the rx8 and kept all of the bad parts about owning one.

These guys are right, unfortunately. This era of RX-8s was the reason Apex Seals became a meme, right around 100k miles.

Unless you've got some service records showing that the engine was rebuilt at some point, you may have very well bought a money pit.

I sold a 2009 RX8 R3 for under 10K.

10,000 miles, premixed every fillup. Just tired of it. So no I think you got hosed.

And yeah, the auto is a massive pile of fail on top of an already dodgy engine. S1 rx8's have 2 less oil injectors, and their reliability shows.
