alright i have a few questions, first of all its an 84 vf500f.
The fuel pump is on the fritz/fucked.
Looked online, these pumps are discontinued
It has a single carb/4 cyl engine.
I read online that gravity feed works great for these types of bikes.

>Is there anything more to it than bypassing the pump?
>should i shorten the lines so it more or less goes straight down to the carbs?
>where should i put the inline fuel filter?
>does gravity feed affect performance in any significant way?
>Are there any alternative pumps i could use?

I bought the cheapest chinese nobrand shit you could find, no issues whatsoever. But remember to buy from an actually reputable parts store instead of online, I wouldn't buy any operation-critical parts from e.g. eBay.

What I was referring to is how many Suzuki bikes share brake parts, rims, suspension parts etc. etc. (for example the GS500 and Katana brakes are identical, GS500 only has one front disc, though)

I couldn't sleep so I've been watching a lot of motorcycle crashes for the past few hours.
It seems that the two most common causes of crashes are
> lowsides because too fast / no throttle control
> speeding / filtering through intersections
Why do so many people decide to speed through corners they don't know instead of testing them out at safe speeds and then gradually getting faster the better you know that particular corner? Why do so many people not understand that it is hard to see and be seen when filtering through an intersection, and that often cars want to turn there? Why do so many people not realize that going through intersections too fast to see if anyone's approaching, and going too fast to stop in time if someone decides to pull out, are among the stupidest things you can do?

In like 99% of the time, the rider is at least 50% at fault.
Are people really this dumb? Is it so hard to apply common sense to riding?

Anyway, post crash stories.
>>
Chipping back in here, I had a "bikuu-ruu" fund that I pull straight from. I asked for the best because my budget allows it. The bike is stock currently, but my list of modifications is slim. Starting with my white fairings. Just not sure what would look good with it
>>
>>12320851
Cars doing left/ u turns seems to be pretty common too.

Yes and no. They are dumb but they are lacking the common sense to apply entirely.
>>
>>12320863
Granted, many car drivers don't bother looking and if some drunk russian idiot thinks it's a good idea to do a u-turn in the middle of a highway then that's just shit and can't be foreseen. Most of the time these accidents happen in intersections though, where it's likely for cars to turn left, right or around. In many of these cases an accident could have been averted by the biker, with proper brake control, alert senses, safe distance to moving cars and appropriate speeds relative to road surface, visibility and riding ability.
>>
>>12320877

A local motovlogger I watch talked about this just yesterday. Said it seems like people as a whole are getting dumber and dumber, theorized it's because the retards don't die as much anymore because muh safety standards, so they can breed, so they pass on their idiot genes and upbringing, and lack of common sense. I think he has a point.

... We should try and make faster bikes more accessible to third worlders.
Scratch that, we should make fast bikes more accessible to everyone and just let the idiots kill themselves.
>>

What a load of bullshit and it's exactly what you would explect from a moto vlogger. Natural selection takes place over thousands of years, not two generations. People have always been idiots, you just didnt have camera's to record them.

These people are dumb as fuck, I've to deal with them kinda daily. They're good for nothing, they can't even do simple tasks without making it worse than before. Without welfare they'd be living under the bridge and be dead by age 25-30. I wouldn't even hire them if I get paid to do so.

Like I said earlier, it's half past 2 in the morning, I have to get up at 7am and I'm playing WoT and browsing /dbt/ because I haven't had anything resembling a healthy sleep schedule any time this year.

Also it's snow outside. Also my bike is in a state of disassembly. Also my ex is going to visit on the weekend.

Amen.

Well, despite having a license for motor boats I rather buy a sailor. Cheaper, and wind is free.
Also you can put a tiny engine inside, in case of nowind.

Why not make the lubehouse on your west coast ? you'll have great roads and I'll be able to join you sometimes.
>>
>>12321331
because i live on east coast and anything over a days drive away would be a fucking pain in the ass to buy / work on
plus i like long island sound fishing etc

Here's my 2015 summer trip, as I plan it today.
6A only if I find a ferry or a boat willing to carry me and my bike (I'm not sure if such ferry exist, I hope), otherwise 6B.

Decided to sketch up all the riding I've done with my bike so far. Couldn't fit the semicircle around Berlin I had to do to pick up the bike when I bought it though.
Between 1.5 and 2k km since November.
