>Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will take on an advisory role in Donald Trump's administration regarding cybersecurity issues, the President-elect's transition team said Thursday.

>"Rudy Giuliani will be sharing his expertise and insight as a trusted friend concerning private sector cyber security problems and emerging solutions developing in the private sector," Trump's transition team said in a statement.

>"In addition, from time to time because of the changing nature of this problem, it is contemplated that the President-elect will be hosting a series of meetings with senior corporate executives from companies which have faced or are facing challenges similar to those facing the government and public entities today, such as hacking, intrusions, disruptions, manipulations, theft of data and identities, and securing information technology infrastructure," the statement read.

>"No consensus advice or recommendations resulting from group deliberations or interaction is expected or will be solicited," it added.

>Giuliani, already an informal adviser to and surrogate for Trump, will not be given a title for the role.

>The former New York mayor had been a consistent advocate and spokesperson for Trump throughout his campaign and had, in the days following the mogul's win, been expected to be rewarded with a cabinet or cabinet-level post inside the administration.

What a fucking joke.

>>Giuliani, already an informal adviser to and surrogate for Trump, will not be given a title for the role.
So this basically means Giuliani and his company will be profiting as a private "advisory" enterprise, right? The fucking FBI and other agencies are going to be getting security advisories from a company that nobody knows what it does.

Cronyism at its finest. We'll be seeing a lot more over the years.
>>
Surprised he didn't hire Bill Gates since he's so good with the internet.
>>
Have you guys noticed this:

I'm not going to poke around there, but anyone feeling daring?
>>
Does Giuliani have any experience in cyber security?
>>
>>99625
He's a paper pusher at some cyber security firm for the last 8 years.
>>
>>99625
see
>>99622
esp. page 2 which is comments from an infosec consultant:

>So respectfully, Rudy, get someone to patch your shit and seek out some kind of specialist advice. ... There’s literally millions of people in infosec who would be better cyber security advisors than Giuliani or whomever his technical advisors are that he’d call on for advice.

tldr, if Giuliani has any IT background at all, he has apparently never visited his own website.

I hope he can help with that - dumbhead..

Continuing the tradition of having a guy that knows nothing about computers or cybersecurity. Just like putting politicians with no experience with science in positions of power over science-related things.
>>
>>99653
A windows VoIP server that also hosts the database, ftp, and everything else publicly... This is so insecure it irks me...
>>
What did you expect from the same guy who rants about 400-pound hackers and "the cyber" on national television?

>security of the cyber is very tough amirite?
>>
>>99397
He might be good in the sense that he's so behind the times that he would advise trump to exclusively carry out all communications by written messages, and uncomfortably long handshakes.
>>
I don't think it should be G, but it should be a lawyer. The biggest problems with information sharing right now have to do with legal, regulatory, and liability challenges - not technical. But what do I know, I just do "the cyber" for a living.
