US population is 318.9 Million according to google.

2 million / 318.9 million*100% = 0.627%

There you go. With less than 1% of the population of the US, a candidate would statistically be wasting their time pandering to homeschoolers.

Also why the fuck is the repub flag next to hillary and the american flag next to trump?
>>
>>79537
About 4% of the current k-12 population is homeschooled. 4% of parents are homeschool parents. Not to mention the number of homeschool grads isn't mentioned. AND not taking into account the number of people who are considering homeschooling.
>>
>>79541
Ok, well let me say what everyone else lurking is thinking.
Fuck them.
We don't care about your snowflake lifestyle, your autistic child's fear of bullies, or your ineligibility for government funding. Fuck off. No one wants to give out money to lazy stay at home moms because 'they feel they deserve it.' we have families missing parents because they died in a stupid, pointless war, and you think you deserve funding before them? If you choose to homeschool, you had better be damn sure you're prepared to do it before you attempt it.

>But anon the parents want to fund online schools
HOLY FUCKING SHIT. You're telling me you want me to pay for your kids terrible online education? I did this, I went through online school. I even had to take 'VIRTUAL P.E.'
I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a joke this is, and it promotes NEETism. You sit and watch YouTube videos during 'lessons' and then take an 'open Internet' test. Fuck no.
>>
>>79531
I bet you enjoyed the mandatory christian class
>>
>children from birth to five years old to be placed into educational programs
this sounds horrible.
>>
>>79541
Homeschooling is prime for breeding naivety.
>>
>>79545
That's funny... because homeschoolers are pretty fucking afraid that a president will try to give out vouchers. If homeschoolers get money from the government, they lose control. If Killary OR Drumph give me an education $ voucher, there will be restrictions and control etc, and then I'm no longer allowed to raise my autistic snowflakes how I see fit.

Maybe you went to public online school and you didn't learn how to read before commenting? Idk, its pretty obvious that gov funding for homeschoolers jeopardizes our freedom to snowflake our kids.
>>
>>79549
Yeah, Fuck Hillary's socialism
>>
>>79549
welcome to 1984, child sex orgy soon
>>
>>79565
Honestly just sounds like he had lazy parents. If I had a takehome test and used the book or the internet to at the same time, my folks would have gone berserk.
>>
As bad as some public schools are in terms of the shittiness of the kids and the ineptness of the profs, it teaches a kid countless valuable lessons about life. From dealing with a prof that loves/hate you, to dealing with bullies/crushes, to being told to conform, to having various friend cliques/friend-groups to try out public school is what gets your ready for the real world.

To me, public school is a worse version of 'not moving out after high school'. You have little chance to grow, take on responsibility and become your own person, you are just slowly becoming a copy of your parents.
>>
>>79541
You're totally right, I forgot about the parents...

But where are you getting this 4% from?

From my source i'm getting: 1,576,516/55,699,573*100%=2.83%

http://a2zhomeschooling.com/thoughts_opinions_home_school/numbers_homeschooled_students/
>>
>>79611
I was taking the statistics from here: http://www.nheri.org/research/research-facts-on-homeschooling.html - seems more credible.

"There are about 2.3 million home-educated students in the United States."

And there are around 50millioni kids in public schools. That would make 4.6%
>>
>>79565
That doesn't make me give any more of a fuck about a tiny percentage of whining people. If they don't want a thing to change, then why are they whining? The government is good at not changing shit.
>>
>>79621
>you didn't learn how to read before commenting?
>>
>>79549
What's so bad about that? You don't have to sit a 1 year old at the desk but it's totally doable to have teach rudimentary math and reading skills before the age of 5. It's mostly just spending time with the kids reading to them and stuff.
>>
>>79654
Whats so bad about the government getting to brainwash a kid from the age of 1 to 5?
>>
>>79664

:'( the issue is they will be sucking Hillary's clit
>>
>>79537
Literally everybody gives a fuck about trannies or gays and they make up about .0000000001% of the population
>>
>>79664
>math and literacy a 5 year old could comprehend are brainwashing
>>
>>79702
>common core

Teaching kids convoluted systems that achieve nothing and make you waste time, seems right to train good goyms.

>it's too hard for kids, wahhh
>I never did this in school, waahhh
>I can't understand the relation between numbers and abstract thinking, waaahhhhh

Anyone else realize vouchers are basically cronyism for Christian schools?

It's a fucked up idea
>>
>>79778
>counting to 10 and learning the ABCs are convoluted systems

Based on the 2013 NHIS data [collected in 2013 from 34,557 adults aged 18 and over], 96.6% of adults identified as straight, 1.6% identified as gay or lesbian, and 0.7% identified as bisexual. The remaining 1.1% of adults identified as “something else[]" [0.2%,] stated “I don’t know the answer[]" [0.4%] or refused to provide an answer [0.6%].

More specifically, 1.8 percent of men self-identify as gay and 0.4 percent as bisexual, and 1.5 percent of women self-identify as lesbian and 0.9 percent as bisexual. The results are generally in the same ballpark as past estimates — and far below the long-debunked 10 percent estimate

Intentionally obfuscating the issue wont change the huge backlash to common core and the numerous issues students have been having with it. Hundreds of thousands of kids getting pulled from the curriculum isn't a meme perpetuated by whatever right-wing epithet you'd use to describe people who don't enjoy getting fucked by textbook companies who are making record profits off of distributing common core materials.

It's amazing how quickly this board became home to a dedicated group of useful idiots.

>It's amazing how quickly this board became home to a dedicated group of useful idiots.
This website is filled with idiots. I'd say the majority of folks on here have some sort of social disorder and cannot engage in a discussion without resorting to name calling, strawmanning or shitposting.

Overall, I see the problem with this board as the same problem with most of 4chan discussion: people are socially immature, and thus very reactionary. They seem to make up their minds before even finishing reading someone's post. This leads to a lot of quick and emotional responses, and nitpicking of arguments.

/ramblings

Anyways, to keep this on topic, I've been looking into the numbers for homeschooled kids and can't really find anything solid. My friend who works in education said if i could find it anywhere it would be here (and even >>79615 's link sourced this):
http://www.nea.org/assets/docs/NEA-Rankings-and-Estimates-2013-2014.pdf

But this report focuses on attendance of public school and I can't find anything directly about homeschooling.
>>
>>79799
>Anyone else realize vouchers are basically cronyism for Christian schools?

The whole reason why we DON'T have vouchers for private school is because of anticatholics like the KKK lobbying against it.

>You've got enough tin foil there to make a whole outfit, bub.
Given the recent historical precedent of tinfoilers being right about everything from government surveillance to media collusion, what exactly is it going to take for mouth breathers like you to stop assuming the government always has your best interest in mind?

Do they have to inflict actual physical harm on you? Or will taxing your 320oz mega jug soda finally prod you into non-apathy?

I was educated in public schools my whole life (k-12 and college) and now I make 200k a year. Why does it matter? If you have a family that will support a quality education it doesn't matter whether you private, public, or home.

they would teach a bit more then that.

They forgot to mention that Trump opposes common core in the picture.
>>
>>79797
I babysit in my spare time for my neighbors, and I help them with their shitty common core homework. They go out of their way to make sure a kid doesnt simply learn to add or subtract, but instead construct unnecessary number lines and clocks and shit. It's a shitty system.
>>
>>79530

>Homeschoolbase.com

I will surely blindly believe everything this article says. Down with school!
>>
>>79615
>"There are about 2.3 million home-educated students in the United States."

This really explains the American userbase of 4chan.
>>
Home schoolers is just another wing of the hardcore christian right. 99.9% oh home schooled kids have parents who think if they send their kids to school they are going to come back devil worshiping homosexuals.

>>80593
There are plenty of good schools. The only reason I would ever choose to homeschool is if I had a kid who was getting bullied hard at more than one school.
>>80647
>"Yes we are Christian but..."
>>
>>80430
Who is the bigger idiot, the person who can only add and subtract basic numbers or the person who isn't as fast at all but can subtract time.

In all serious, this is a trick question that baits you to think about what is more important in education in Math. It has no right answer.

But it's fun to mess with people discussing Common Core with it.
>>
>>79530
So the oppose Trump because he didn't talk about them, and wont be giving them free handouts

>Ayo hol up were b muh gibsmedats!
>>
>>80430
Rote memorization is easier to teach than abstract thinking and it also only applies to a very narrow spectrum. On the other hand... You could put that energy into a worth while investment, But I like diminishing returns, why fuck with that?

It's probably why every one hated word problems except me, I was/am a special snowflake. Very few in my high school class could translate 'How much change do I get if I buy 2 apples, at $25.50 an apple, with $110.00?' into 110-(2*25.5)=x. I can not understand why people can't read what is in front of their eyes.

People homeschooled and those from charters schools are fucking retarded. These are the same people that stay being active debtors their whole life in nc.

First time on this board, and I can tell it's leddit
>>
>>79530
All three home schooled people I know have social anxiety and two have committed violent felonies.

>removing kids from society
>thinking they'll be able to function in it anyway

Also so many home schooling parents do it out of fear. It's literally teaching your normal kid to be retarded, hence any sperglords who tell me how great it was for them to never learn social norms
>>
>>80131
The Wolf of Wall Street
>>
>>80006
You jelly?

I cant wait for the 9th its gonna be so much fun. I personally hope for divine intervention but a legit trump win would be good too.
>>
>>81352
And look where it's got you.

But seriously, you can't teach that and the teachers don't understand it so they fuck it up so hard it's worse. People like you and me come up with the abstract shit on their own (I figured out that 17-9 is actually 10-9 then add 7 in second grade) and the norms can't be taught, so what's the point?
>>
>>81702
I want to vote trump so Colbert and Trevor Noah have to keep talking about him. Can you imagine how hard it will be to go cold turkey and have news about anything else?

Enough of them wear jean skirts that you can lump them all together in one category, like mexicans. And then you can lump the weird AF ones into a catgory too. Untill you're left with a category thats cool.
