what i predict is if China tries to pull anything suspicious we will have US & Canada, Japan, SK, EU, Russia, India, and maybe Brazil and Iran may develop / adapt their systems and infrastructure for self-contained intranets.

it's not immediately clear to me how China can force IANA to refuse to service a website.
I'm sure they might do it; but the nature of the arrangement of how it will be governed isn't apparent to me so I don't know what they might do to take advantage of the fact that it's no longer under control of the US government.
To be honest I don't know myself exactly how they could fuck it up, but we already know how fucked up censorship and such is over there right now, and that is without them having any real strong footholds into the heart of the internet

I personally just think its something that should be shouted more loudly. To be entirely frank I have no life outside of computers/internet/weeb shit/linux, and even 'normal' folks pretty much depend on the internet nowadays, especially businesses. That kind of power is not something that should be handed over to a regime like the PRC.

I'm not too worried about this. If some country or bloc tries to get pushy, the rest of the world can, pretty easily, cut the wires to the bad actor and set up replacements.

It just seems naive to believe that control of IANA can be ceded to an independent authority; with the current structure of DNS, there will be one state power holding the reins no matter what. Better if it's the US.
