When it comes to condescending leftist gobshite, they start them young these days...

They are little kids. Kids say things. Perhaps /pol/ would like this and I dont mean that as an insult. I like /pol/.
>>
>>30727
It'd be funny if sugar production wasn't one of the most heavily government subsidized industries in the world.
>>
>>30727
I'm USA left, this is Bullshit. There are so many things wrong with her statement, 'if X helps Y, why question?' and the response to suggesting maybe an open mind, "Maybe you weren't brainwashed enough." in such a condescending tone.

UK, what are you doing with yer Cameron pig head fucking, porn banning selves? And now yer kids can't think for themselves.
>>
>>30801
then the best thing to do would be to take away the subsidization,
not add the tax...
>>
The sugar tax won't affect drinks with no added sugar right? So everyone will switch from fanta to fanta zero since it will be cheaper.

What exactly is wrong with this? As a guy that weighed 260lbs who now weighs 205 from about 8 months of cutting down on sugar, I can say from experience that I support it wholeheartedly.
>>
>>30727
>taking kids seriously
who even does this
>>
>>30801
>only in the USA
>>
>>30907
what about the fact that sugar subsititutes are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy worse for your body?

or personal choice is that not a thing anymore?
>>
>>30907

the arguments will be - personal choice, general pro small government etc, which are often good arguments and shouldn't simply be dismissed

pros will be - economically make sense (tax something and youll get less of it), general negative externality - burden on health service, hampers general productivity

personally im pro a sugar tax in general because of how obese kids are, it's not their personal choice that their parents feed them like shit - and obese kids 90% of the time are obese adults

i would support taxes on similarly unhealthy fast food and the like too, it's not just sugar that has done this (but it's a large part of it)
>>
>>30911
they export that shit to everywhere else in coke bottles
>>
>>30912
>fact
That's actually not supported by evidence.

Sugar substitutes are fine.
>>
>>30951
>Sugar substitutes are fine.
t. National Corn Syrup Council
>>
>>30953
Pretty sure corn syrup contains sugar.

I was more talking about those that supposedly cause cancer.
>>
>>30964
I'll just leave this here:

>>
>>30967
You're complaining about HFCS. Here's what that is:
>"This is very close to white sugar, which contains about 50 percent fructose (and 50 percent glucose).
Here's my comment:
>Sugar substitutes are fine.
I'll leave you to find out where your response to my comment makes no sense.
>>
>>30969
I don't think he understands what sugars are, he's probably thinking of a cane sugar product and not the class of carbs that HFCS falls under.

>>30916
The thing about taxing high calorie food is that people with high metabolisms eat that food as well. I need at least 1.7k cal per day or I start to lose weight at about 1lbs a week and I average about 2.5k cal a day. Cheap, 'Bad' food is my diet. I eat most simple carbs such as pasta, rice, and cooked starchy tubers supplemented with a fatty protein such as fish, beef or pork, and I throw in the occasional salad but mostly cooked veggies. Sometimes I get chicken but I tend to avoid it as it is not worth the money for me.

'Healthy' food is actually malnourishment to people who live a very active life style. Nobody wants to eat 6 to 10 lbs of food a day to sustain themselves on top of the liquid intake. That's fucking bonkers and it would cost up the ass.

I'm fine with a $6 McD meal that is 1k cal or more, or a Taco Bell combo for $8 that is about 1.3k cal, just for a change of pace from my cooking a few times a week. Don't make me pay double just because I want to run or lift every day and that I have a physically demanding job.

Oh, and if I could eat dairy constantly, I would.
>>
>>30967
The U.K. Doesn't use corn syrup I don't think
>>
>>30991
And why is that again? Oh yeah, because HFCS is bad for you.
>>
>>3prettye sure corn syrup IS sugar
ffs
>>
>>30953
Corn syrup is not a sugar substitute, it's sugar. Sugar substitutes are things like Splenda, Stevia, etc.

>at a family dinner, political discussion comes up
>little brother looks to me and asks "we're all democrats, right?"
>ask him why he's a dem
>idk dad told me I am

He doesn't even know what it means to have a political stance, yet our dad is just telling him what to think. Fucking great
>>
>>31083
You have more sway than your father over him just because you guys are closer in age, assuming you socialized with your lil bro just a little. Make sure he can think for himself lest he become lost to group think.
>>
>>31083
>ask him why he's a dem
>idk dad told me I am
Canadafag here, why would any straight male, who's not one of their trusty's or capos, support the Democrats?
If you're not one of their special identity groups, or an untouchable establishment class scion, they're actively trying to fuck you.
That's almost child abuse on your dad's part.
>>
>>31457
Why would anyone support the less corporate of the two parties (if only marginally when looking at Hillary)? Truly, what a mystery.

Why is it that every foreigner I talk to has this ridiculous lopsided view of American politics? They have access to the same news sources we do at this point.

I suppose they don't have access to real life America to help counteract ridiculous media spin.
>>
>>30727
What a little brat. Tat's a clear case of parental brainwashing.
>>
>>30916
>I should punish everyone for the actions of fat slobs and shitty parents

This isn't about politics so much as the fact that girls turn into little bitches at about that age
