I thought that was weird, too.

Nobody is going to remember this NH primary in a week when the SC primary gets going next week.
>>
>>22372
First they decide Iowa with coin tosses... Now Sanders victory is Hillary's, too! Are you recognizing a pattern here?!?
>>
uhh..did you retards forget about superdelegates?

the (rich) democrats are very pro establishment
>>
America isn't really a democracy since the electoral college isn't legally bound to uphold a popular vote.
>>
>>22390
This. I mean you can make the argument that super-delegates can switch sides assuming Bernie becomes more popular (which isn't true on a national level as of now), but I'm pretty sure Clinton learned her mistake when this actually happpened in 2008. She'll use whatever influency and many she has to secure the delegates.

Democracy hard at work
>>
Coin tosses, super delegates and the electoral college, the american election system is such shit.

*influence and money

Sorry

In some states they are legally bound to vote the way the popular vote goes. Took hold after the Bush Gore fiasco.
>>
>>22466
What a seminal moment that turned out to be! If Gore had been president an Iraqi invasion would likely never happened. Millions of iraqis and syrians would still be alive. And god knows what price europe will end up paying on account of the refugee influx.

Is it me or the American voting system doesn't make much sense?
For starters some citizens don't have an ID, but they don't use their drivers license either, i don't get it.
And then, you can just go to a voting site and claim you live there. How is that verified?
Even so, I cannot make sense of the political parties. Why can you only between two parties? Why can't you vote, say, the communist party

>For starters some citizens don't have an ID, but they don't use their drivers license either, i don't get it.
Until very recently, all that has technically required is that the person is a citizen and is registered to vote in that city/county. In the past few years states have passed voter ID laws that require things like a DL or some other form of photo ID beyond just a voter registration card (which typically doesn't have a picture).

>And then, you can just go to a voting site and claim you live there. How is that verified?
It's a government service performed at the local/county level. Each county in each state is responsible for handling the logistics of elections and voter verification and at least in my state the polling places are staffed by volunteers. The state typically has one of its executive level cabinet positions oversee the election operations of all the counties in the state. In mine it's the Secretary of State of the State. (don't think too much about that).

>Even so, I cannot make sense of the political parties. Why can you only between two parties?

The US operates under a system called 'Big Tent Politics'. The theory behind it says that you can be classified as a democrat or a republican whether you like it or not based on a list of criteria that fits each of the 2 major party platforms. Do you think of yourself as a libertarian? Congrats, you're a republican whether you like it or not. How about a socialist? Congrats, you're a democrat whether you like it or not.

The theory says that all of the left wing people and all of the right wing people have to form two groups and come to a consensus about representing the majority viewpoints among them. You try to change the party from within.

You could vote for the communist party if anyone from the communist party was running. There really is nothing saying you MUST vote for one of the two big parties, but because of BTP the two big parties are usually the only viable option.
