Late-Night Comedy Writers Frustrated They Aren’t Persuading Voters to Hate Trump: ‘I don’t want this job’ was the general feeling among the writers on the panel who were apparently exhausted that their oh-so-clever writing is failing to win over Trump voters.

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/late-night-writers-donald-trump-trevor-noah-samantha-bee-tca-1202510355/

Adding that he found Trump’s presidency “exhausting.” He said it was not fun keeping up with the never-ending news cycle.

Nangle, apparently without any sense of irony and self-awareness of her industry, said Trump is “unearthing part of our country that people didn’t know existed” because “there’s so much more hate and resentment than we possibly could have imagined … This man didn’t come out of nowhere.”

Hollywood celebrities have been some of the most vile and unhinged during Trump’s presidency, with many envisioning violence (including murder) against Trump.
>>
>>162450
>He said it was not fun keeping up with the never-ending news cycle.
Did they say something wrong here? A lot of people feel that way about this trainwreck of a political system, it almost feels like so much dirt is getting dug up to wear us out so when the real shit hits the fan nobody will want to give a shit anymore.
>>
>>162455
Actually. If you STILL don't get it. Let me explain. Trump was elected to be the human nuclear bomb. We sent him to washington to destroy them. Both the democrats and the repuclians.
Trump is doing everything 100% as I expected and I love every second of it.
>>
>>162450
>there’s so much more hate and resentment than we possibly could have imagined … This man didn’t come out of nowhere.
>out of nowhere
Perhaps look into the mirror from time to time and you might realize that it does not come out of nowhere but from something very real.
>>
>>162459
I love hearing Liberals cry about nearly everything Trump does. Makes my day, every day.
>>
>>162459
>Actually. If you STILL don't get it. Let me explain. Trump was elected to be the human nuclear bomb. We sent him to washington to destroy them. Both the democrats and the repuclians.
So your solution was to gift Republicans everything?
>>
>>162475
Why not? Dems had it for 8 years and look what a crap fest they made out of it. Trump is shaking the political system down to the core and those in washington and the coasts still can't feel the earth moving under their feet from their ivory tower.
>>
>>162475
Hillary would have literally been the next Stalin. we dodged a giant bullet.
>>
>>162450
Colberts timeline is a wild ride.

>Starts moderately successful slightly left leaning parody show that the right and left enjoy
>Slips further to the left over time
>Completely goes full lefty during election cycle
>Gets caught colluding with the DNC
>Gets his own night show
>PC / SJW Leftist propoganda
>Can't stump the Trump
>2 SCOOPS

I used to like this guy. Now he's an insufferable cuck.
>>
>>162450
Everyone who's not a moron feels the same way. We're all exhausted and dismayed. There's nothing we can do to fix retardation and unfortunately the retards have proven that they have the numbers needed to control the country.
>>
>writing
>exhausting
>>
>>162455
What dirt? That's the problem. The constant stream of nothing burgers form the bitter left is the problem not some fantasy scandals.
>>
>>162487
Such pretentious thinking is going to keep you from making many good decisions in your life. You have been warned.
>>
>>162487
>Everyone who's not a moron feels the same way. We're all exhausted and dismayed.
Has it occurred to you that you may actually also be the morons?

>retards (see:people who don't agree with me) have proven that they have the numbers needed to control the country.
That's democracy. If you don't like it, leave :^)
>>
>>162477
?
Dems had the presidency. Senate, house, and judiciary were either mixed or under Republican control.
>>
>>162506
Not for the first two years. "Supermajority".

Can't re-write history. :^)
>>
>>162480
Was this narrative a group effort or did you make it yourself?
>>
>>162509
What are you even trying to say?
Are you having trouble making an argument now that your Russia collusion story is dead and gone or are you just a complete retard?
>>
>>162510
I'm saying that I wonder if you came up with this most epic troll of a 'timeline,' yourself, or if you pieced together parts of it from the totally not reddit members of r/pol

I think years of getting poz loads into your gay asshole have left your immune system so weak it could no longer protect your brain from all the germs in your vegan food. Your brain is being eating up. Sad story.

Lol if you can name one thing about it that's not true I'll give you 5 sharebucks, legal tender at any participating ShareBlue Cuck-veniance store

God, I fucking LOVE memes! TWO SCOOPS! Ha ha ha! Libtards lol! Ha ha ha! People are totally responding to us guys, Meme Army! Praise Kek!

True story, I brought a Kekistani flag to school one day, and this annoying feminist girl who's parents pack her a vegan lunch every day, told me that it was a hate symbol. So I told her, "Kekistani is a religion of peace! PRAISE KEK!" Then suddenly a bunch of other kids yelled "PRAISE KEK!" And we all laughed at the frustrated feminist girl. Now we all eat lunch together and talk about memes we found on /pol/, Praise kek!

You type exactly like Colbert talks. Is it really you Colbert? I hope you die soon.
>>
>>162503
This there are plenty of great countries in Europe who want you. France literally asked American workers to move there. Go ahead and leave and let America be great and whatever socialist "democracy" you move you will gladly accept your worthless hide. Then you can firsthand see what "not real socialism" looks like, and America can, once again, come save you.

Oops, meant to reply to the anon you replied to. You seem like a patriot.

Exactly. Anyone not a retarded liberal has been having massive Russia burn out for months now.

Non stop "Russia Russia Russia", but still absolutely nothing beyond nameless sources and personal opinions.

Meanwhile Comey, Lynch, and Hillary committed multiple felonies and it's like nothing ever happened.

You mean the Communist party that infiltrated the Democratic Party.

Here's a tip for fitting in on english sites, only use 'proofs' when in the context of mathematics,.'proof' is the form you want to use.

I guess that explains the reason why Americans called it the United States.

I, and I feel like most other conservatives like me would agree, feel that those late night shows mentioned in the OP story are actively hostile to me.

I used to watch Colbert and Stewart for a laugh since 09, but as the election cycle came along it stopped being funny and started to take on that pretentious, "If you're not with me you're stupid and racist." angle and ran with it from six months prior to the election until today.

I don't watch it because it's no longer funny to me, it's gone beyond satire to something akin to what you'd hear on AM radio during the Obama years, except polarized towards the other side.

At this point all I do is wonder when -we- will get our own late night comedy show. It's clear all the ones running today have chosen the other side.

>... “unearthing part of our country that people didn’t know existed” because “there’s so much more hate and resentment than we possibly could have imagined...

Rural counties and flyover country suddenly entered their consciousness, huh? They've been in the bubble for too long.
>>
>>162607
Lol all those shows set up strawman arguments and giggle to their lib audience and their faggy liberal buddies come on and then they get mad surprised when the elections go red because they live in a insulated lefty bubble

They live in a world largely without a virtue system, where deviancy is celebrated and honesty is impossible. Traditional morality just isn't practiced. Most celebs don't have money issues or practical knowhow in business / finances so they envision a socialist charity world would be possible and ideal.

When reality poops on their fake fantasy of a leftist socialist utopia, they get uppity and start blaming middle americans. Racism, xenophobia, Christian values. Why can't they be more like us they ask while swilling a strawberry hibiscus tea in a biodegradable thermos.
>>
Jeez, it'd be like if a KKK channel complained that they aren't influencing the african-american vote. They shit on conservative viewers, then turn around and wonder why conservative viewers aren't tuning in. It's plain to see why the two parties now gravitate towards two separate sources of news and entertainment.
>>
>>162650
I think it's funny how the Dems are being eternally thrashed in the polls, and they still think the countries majority is on their side
>>
>>162450
pity the left now, must be really hard to go through day by day. with all that hate and violence.
>>
>>162660
Please tell me this is satire and that you're not actually this fucking stupid
>>
>>162475
>gift
This is not a verb. It's a noun. The correct word is "give." Christ almighty.
>>
>>162607
Too bad RedEye is dead.
>>
>>162676
Right? Greg Gutfeld was one of the few people I think could make a right-wing late night comedy show work. Tucker could probably do it too, but I don't think Fox is going to let him go.
>>
>>162674
Oh really? When did that change?
>>
>>162674
Um, sweetie. It's a verb and a noun
>>

hate is normal, everyone hates something.
yet they dont notice it unless its from someone they dont like.
>>
>Late-Night Comedy Writers Frustrated They Aren’t Persuading Voters to Hate Trump

1.We're tired of hearing the same shit over and over

2.Does anyone really need to be persuaded? It's preaching to the choir at this point.
>>
>>162920
Mutual hate is a source of camaraderie, and people on both sides gravitate more towards others who hate the same things more than love for the same things, at least today.

The general media tone of the day does little to make things better.
>>
>>162450
Aside from the time he went into his personal sob story, I can still watch Jimmy Kimmel.

When that show makes fun of Trump it's not in the condescending cocksucker way that Colbert does it. The drunk Trump skits are funny no matter who you agree with.
>>
>being "on" every 5 nights a week is hard
wow who woulda thunk
>>
who here voted for trump out of spite?
>>
>>163188
Everyone voted for Trump because the other candidate was literally Stalin. A crazed control freak Socialist.
>>
>>163188
Spite -and- I want the left to have something other than my guns and my money on their mind for a while. Another conservative justice on the SCOTUS didn't hurt either. He could vanish into the warp tomorrow and I'd say my vote was worth it.

It's nice seeing the shock from the other side, 8 years of being in control and seeing the tables turn so quickly. I bet they're pretty damn concerned about Obama increasing executive power now.
>>
>>163275
The dems were in control for 2 years. The other 6 they had a lameduck president combined with even less representation at the state level than they already had. In terms of the overton window the right has been in control for the last 35 odd years.
>>
>>163188
"Haha, Trump is running for president, can you believe that shit?".... months later.... "Holy fuck, I have to get to the polling station to vote for Trump before it is too late."
>>
>>162459

>haha bro we just voted him because we KNEW he was an idiot!

Can the kids please leave?
>>
>>162478
True. Unfortunately, too many people seem to not realize this.
>>
>>163290
Sure, I'll give you that, but now instead of being concerned about taxes and gun laws, they're more concerned about trannies and the police, things I care significantly less about. And SCOTUS doesn't just last until the next election, that shit is for life.
>>
>>163080
This. I liked Jon Stewart and Colbert. Even when they made fun of people, it was equal. Everyone got shit on and the stuff they picked on was genuine. I am right wing and it didn't even bother me. But now it feels less like jokes and more like propaganda and preaching. There is a difference between "comedy" meant to be funny and point out absurd shit, and what basically amounts to "jokes" meant to simply bash anything that disagrees with you. Start up a real news show or something if you want that, because it makes for boring and shitty comedy.
>>
>>163352
It's not really comedy anymore. It's just an MSNBC subsidiary with comedy overtones.
>>
>>162786
and 7 years to prepare
>>
>>163352
>right wing
well there's your problem. you were ok sticking to the left for 10 years, but now that your god empire has made so many easy fumbles you suddenly want to make the office saintly off limits. you want the right not to be a joke just making it a joke. stop making it easy for your political opposition to make jokes about you. meanwhile where is that fake russia story. Oh still here. funny that. more problematic material keeps being found and brought out. seriously you have no one but yourself to blame at this point
>>
>>163346
when are you leaving sonny
>>
>>163346
>That group that constantly hopes for the HAPPENING and want shit to just burn down

Oh yeah, no, they definitely wouldn't have shilled a candidate who they expected to shake shit up. They totally voted for him because they expected his transition into power to be smooth and boring.

And Hannibal is a vegetarian.
>>
>>162459
Precisely what every Trump voter I know says, including myself. Him just getting elected in the first place was all I wanted from him and everything else is a bonus.
>>
>>163414
>you suddenly want to make the office saintly off limits

I'm not even on his side and I want them to stop talking about Trump, at least not every 10 seconds.

>Oh look, somebody's confidential source said something about someone who had a connection to Russia! Trump BTFO!

If he's not getting impeached for it, it's not newsworthy to me.
>>
>>162507
>expecting anything to get done in two years
>in a system that specifically gives the minority party power equal to the majority
You have a severe misunderstanding about how lawmaking works.

Each administration needs like 10 years just to analyze the effects of the previous 10. And in case you haven't noticed, Republicans have a supermajority now, and they're also achieving nothing of note.
>>
>>164134
the point is the Russia story is not going away and the WH has not come up with a legit strat to deal with it. It's an albatross around their neck they can't get rid of. it's a slow painful open wound that they keep spilling salt into.
>>
As much as I hate to give this nutcase any credit, he is not stupid. At the end of the day, have a look @ who signs is paycheck...

"Haha, yes, all according to my 4D chess playing! HE IS A GENIUS AND SO AM I BECAUSE HE CAN'T HELP BUT EMBARRASS HIMSELF DAILY! Take that democrats and republicans even though it looks like only the republicans are taking the brunt of this incompetence!"

You just seem delusional. You voted for a moron with some idea that he'd change things up and all he's doing is getting cockblocked at every turn, made into the laughing stock of the world.
>>
>>166230
>You really sound like you're full of shit.
Because you're a delusional idiot.
>>
>>162786
Trump is not a Republican president, he's himself. Both Democrats and Republicans are garbage.
>>
>>166236
The man is more of a centrist than he lets on, imagine how 2016 would have looked if he ran as a Democrat with the same economic populist platform. Direct pissing contests with Sanders, eroding Hillary from within, if they pulled the same super-delegate shit they did with The Bern on him who knows how that would have played out.
>>
>>162607
You are doing yourself no favors as a moderate republican by siding with Trump and getting offended that people make fun of him and his voters.

Siding with Trump is the ethical and moral choice.

>even though it looks like only the republicans are taking the brunt of this incompetence!

Democrats are actually fucking themselves big-time on this. Crying about two-scoops and Melania wearing high heels just gets people sick of listening to them. Trump acting like a fucking turd gets people sick of him. When people get fed up, they get angry.

America is having riot after riot, and both sides are making it worse. Your country is going to implode and I'll be masturbating when it does. Not to your country imploding, I'm just usually masturbating anyway.
>>
>>162459

god damn BRO, this is some 14th dimensional backgammon right here

how can trump be so le based?!?!
>>
aren't "comedy writers" supposed to be funny?
>>
>>167859
Bitching about stupid superficial details and fabricating conspiracies helped Trump get elected though.
>>
>>167906
>aren't "comedy writers" supposed to be funny?
Not when they treat politics different than the rest of reality.
If a writer treats people in political office the same way they write for celebrities, then there is the possibility for humor.
Otherwise it's annoying virtue signaling.
>>
>>162450
it's because they are idiots, no one takes trump seriously, so it's not fun or taboo to make fun of him. Make the situation seem serious if you want people to dislike him.
>>
>>169732
The left is a joke and noone outside of it takes them seriously
>>
I see the common derailment argument of "the 4d-chess argument is invalid" and as always accompanied by some derision. it just gets funnier each time I see it.

Here's why:

He hits back hard, and the more hate they build against him the more powerful he becomes. He is the counter-puncher and he will swing the very hate they build . So on Monday or soon after he will be pulling a trigger that many see him cocking back, and all the fools who think they smell blood in the water don't realize it's arsenic and they only rush towards a noose.

#ItEndsNow

In case you are wondering what I see that you do not? Oh so many things... but if I were to list all the things the media chooses not to cover I'd be here for years. So start here: https://aclj.org/government-corruption/breaking-fbi-reopens-clinton-lynch-case

Ask yourself what is and is not happening right now, and why certain people are now silent. People who were screaming like a wounded dog just months ago. What happened to them? And what is happening now? So much to be excited about : )
>>
same question regarding clinton, how do you make fun of someone who's already been a giant walking joke for 30 fucking years?
>>
>>166687
First of all there are no liberals on the left.
Secondly while I can't speak for others I voted for Trump specifically because his election would be a needed wake up call to politicians on both side of the fence to get their shit together and because I can't see Trump causing any real harm in the interim because he will be held back at every turn.
