I read a theory on "the social evolution of the brain". Basically, the brain takes a lot of energy to run, and our bodies tend to want to use as little energy as possible. Capitalism is good to an extent because profit incentive and competition promote productivity and innovation, to an extent. Not because it's some ethical good. Bringing "deserving" into this is totally nonsense, considering the range of conditions one could find themselves in, the vast majority of people don't deserve most of what they have. Nor is it a panacea for the problem of poverty.

With the advent of the the TV many stopped reading, and can only handle their info in 30min bursts. With the advent of social media many people stopped living lives, and began mirroring lives. Through that homogenization the average persons attention span went down to about 3min click bait. You seriously think you can get more intelligent in such an environment? People need alone time to think without distractions, and then need to come together to discuss ideas. Nowadays there is no alone time, and even if there was there is way too many distractions we allow. So, you get surface chatter, and a shortened attention span. If you keep people busy they will cease to think, and only react. I think this was the intent at least in the end how it is used.

About which part specifically? The stuff about wealth inequality is related to the Flynn effect which the OP mentioned- the fact that IQ is directly tied to one's education and quality of life. The most blatant example of this would be Chinese-Americans, who in the 60s scored 7 points lower than whites on average, yet today they score considerably higher than whites, which comes as a result of the tremendous improvement of their living conditions throughout the 20th century- unless you're so ridiculous as to believe that they underwent some massive mutation within the past few decades.

What a nonsense article. Not every american has an IQ that is the average of their country and not every pakistani or african or native american or chinese has an IQ the average of their respective countries.
Obviously immigrants will tend to be higher IQ than native born of their country after vetting.
Indians and Pakistanis are the same race, both come from developing countries, but in the UK Indians have the same poverty rates as native born and in the US they have the highest median household income of any ethnic group.
Not to mention, as many of these countries develop, the Flynn effect will raise the average just as it has elsewhere in the world. If you take someone from a country where they suffer chronic malnutrition, childhood disease is typical, public education is low quality, and place them in a developed country, there will certainly exist a significant difference in outcomes.

I read a study that was done in this in Iceland that suggested that the IQ drop was due to some form of natural selection. The gist of it was that people with a certain gene that was associated with increased levels of education tended to have fewer kids. Those without that gene, on the other hand, tended to have more kids. The association existed regardless of ACTUAL educational attainment and seemed to be related only to the presence of that specific gene.

Legal immigrants are always going to outperform the average member of a native population. During the selection process you tend to pick people with higher intelligence/education to allow in and block those without any formal training. If you want to compare the average intelligence of native Nigerians and native British then you would need to look at the entire population descended from those countries and not just those that reside within one country or another. Considering the average IQ in Nigeria is 84 compared to the UKs 100, I think we all know what the outcome of that comparison will be.
