>The framed copy of Time Magazine was hung up in at least four of President Trump’s golf clubs, from South Florida to Scotland. Filling the entire cover was a photo of Donald Trump.
>>
>“Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” the big headline said. Above the Time nameplate, there was another headline in all caps: “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS ... EVEN TV!”

>This cover — dated March 1, 2009 — looks like an impressive memento from Trump’s pre-presidential career. To club members eating lunch, or golfers waiting for a pro-shop purchase, it seemed to be a signal that Trump had always been a man who mattered. Even when he was just a reality-TV star, Trump was the kind of star who got a cover story in Time.

>But that wasn’t true.

>The Time cover is a fake.
>>
>There was no March 1, 2009, issue of Time Magazine. And there was no issue at all in 2009 that had Trump on the cover.

>In fact, the cover on display at Trump’s clubs, observed recently by a reporter visiting one of the properties, contains several small but telling mistakes. Its red border is skinnier than that of a genuine Time cover, and, unlike the real thing, there is no thin white border next to the red. The Trump cover’s secondary headlines are stacked on the right side — on a real Time cover, they would go across the top.
>And it has two exclamation points. Time headlines don’t yell.

>“I can confirm that this is not a real TIME cover,” Kerri Chyka, a spokeswoman for Time Inc., wrote in an email to The Washington Post.
>>
>So how did Trump — who spent an entire campaign and much of his presidency accusing the mainstream media of producing “fake news” — wind up decorating his properties with a literal piece of phony journalism?

>The Trump Organization did not respond to questions this week about who made the cover and why it was displayed at Trump clubs. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to say whether Trump had known the cover wasn’t real.

>“We couldn’t comment on the decor at Trump Golf clubs one way or another,” Sanders wrote in an email.

>The cover seems to fit a broader pattern for Trump, who has often boasted of his appearances on Time’s cover and adorned his Trump Tower office with images of himself from magazines and newspapers. Trump has made claims about himself — about his charitable giving, his business success, even the size of the crowd at his inauguration — that are not supported by the facts.

While this is a trivial non-story better suited for a tabloid than the paper that broke open the Watergate scandal, I'm still surprised by how bizarre and narcissistic Trump is.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad Shillary lost, but Trump is clearly sick in the head.

He must not have done anything today that drove them crazy. Still waiting for that story about him eating his pizza backwards

Only in Trumptard land can something as pathetic as posting a fake Time cover when you already have plenty of covers be construed as the opposition looking bad.

Fantastic journalism, amazing reporting, love Washington Post, always a good time

Yeah somewhere around "he eats kfc with a fork and knife" making a segment while a sarin gas attack is Syria was left in the ticker tape I started believing in Trump derangement syndrome. It cant be healthy having this sort of obsession. But hey if you prefer they take time running this thats your bag, hope it fills whatever hole in your life needs filling. Just be sure to remember this story when people talk about Washington Podesta being fake news.
>>
>>152541

Yup, there he goes again, completely oblivious to the fact that both stories can reported at once. Media conglomerates employ thousands of employees.

>they didn't report on the sarin gas attack

This is so blatantly untrue that it boggles the mind. It was huge news for days across all mediums.

I think people blow these types of articles completely out of proportion and draw incredible conclusions about the source from a single article. Yes it's not headline worthy news but guess what: it's not going to be in the headline in tomorrow's print copy. In fact, it might not even make it to the print copy, and it will stay on the website where you have to actively look for it. This type of article is utterly outnumbered by pages upon pages of pieces on Supreme Court decisions, Senate bills, business news, and international news (including wars in Syria and Ukraine).

I mean, what's your sample size of WP articles? If you were only to use /news/, it would be a tiny sample size of only these types of articles, because that's the sort of thing that gets posted on /news/ from the Post. If you get a printed copy of it, you'll find that Trump was only in four article titles that weren't even on the front page.

And nothing about this article is false (unless the author happens to be lying, of course), so claiming this is evidence of "fake news" shows that people are still confusing the terms "fake" and "biased."

>Yeah somewhere around "he eats kfc with a fork and knife" making a segment while a sarin gas attack is Syria was left in the ticker tape

24/7 broadcast news programs will spend a majority of their time on actual news, and then devote something like 5 minutes at the end of each hour to minor fluff to break up the monotony of talking about the same two or three big events continuously. The big news will continue on the ticker tape during that time. They aren't running this type of story OVER real news, they're breaking up the programming so people turning off the news at the end of the hour have a less serious note to end on (this is where the infamous "2 scoops" story ran).

I seriously don't understand how people on this board consume so much news but at the same time don't understand how these news organizations work.

The left gobbles the stuff up and jump around like baboons online and on television

The right is getting tired of hearing balonga and are starting to make a fuss for probably the first time in decades
>>
>>152570
What do you expect from the ((((lugenpresse)))) and their SJW enablers?
>>
>>152570

I hope you're seriously not using the internet as your source of what "regular" people believe, left or right, because most normal people hear this story, go "wow that's dumb" or "what a narcissist" and move on. Only retards like >>152572 and his opposing counterparts in the left-wing are "[jumping] around like baboons" at every single minor story about Trump (because masturbating over Trump is what both extremist sides do, which is frankly bizarre), and he is most certainly not the typical conservative.
>>
>>152574
The mainstream media, Hollywood, academia/public schools, and in large part the government have been increasingly left leaning and hostile towards traditional conservative people and traditional american liberal values.

This has been building up for a long long time.

>the internet is the real world

Pro tip to any Trump supporter, or in other words, any 15 year old:

If you spend your life in front of a screen getting fed a constant diet of SJW boogeyman stuff, you'll start to believe that these people run rampant.

As an individual that lives in a liberal state in a liberal city going to a liberal college in a liberal major, I have never once felt like my standard behavior was being oppressed by SJW culture nor seen it running amuck on the streets. I certainly see the occasional person dressed up as what'd you call "SJW" fashion, but if you're triggered by what somebody wears you should probably lock yourself in a basement because you're evidently not fit for the real world.

People in cities generally take better care of themselves and dress more "white" than outside of them, as an ironic FYI.

So yes, outrage culture against "neo-Nazi's" or antifa/SJW's is usually promulgated by people by people that spend so much time on the internet that there is a very real disconnect from reality.

Because you should know better, dumbass
>>
>>152644
Actually they're just a nasty woman
>>
>>152643
True. I'm in a small town where everyone is always raging on Facebook about sjws and it doesn't help that the only people who would dare be liberal are the extremely liberal. So you have some extreme liberals arguing with everyone and even my down to earth friends hate liberal or at least those they know of

>>152562
The one during election season not the one earlier this year. It didnt matter because Hillary was alreading planning intervention in Syria. Only 30 or so died in that attack if I recall. There wasnt a /news/ thread and there wasnt any HAPPENING over on /pol/. No big headlines were broken about it, the only reason I remember it at all is being disgusted that it rolled along the bottom as breaking news.
>MOOOOOM they called me fake news because I literally cant go 12 hours without a Trump hitpiece :'( i wish my magical socialism negro was here, a wall street bailout or a love letter to insurance companies would sooth my aching butthole

As for the content of the article
>UUUUUGH he has a fake picture in multiple thriving businesses he owns? What a total loser! This conglomerate owning billionaire president must be a total retard!
>>
>>152643
this should be a copypasta, but the good kind of copypasta
>>
>>152472
wtf... what is he? the new saddam hussein? he'll want his face on dollar bills now?
>>
>>152703
As an aside, i think it would make for a cool collectors item if presidents each had a set of coins and cash with different portraits of themselves on the way out. Like 10 pennies, nickels, dimes etc.
>>
>>152710
He should bring back the 1000 and put his face on that
>>
>>152688

Lmao what a tard. Imagine being this far down the rabbit hole that it's impossible for you to realize a reality where Trump just constantly fucks up and does pathetic things.

News flash, people did this with Obama eating dijon mustard, wearing a tan suit, or putting his feet on the resolute desk. This isn't new or exclusive to Trump, and it's quite interesting you're so triggered by an article buried under the actual daily news, such as Mitch pushing the healthcare vote back. Maybe lefties just push it to trigger people like you ;)
>>
>>152526
Didn't Trump attack Kasich for the way Kasich after a slice of pizza?
>>
>>152710
>wanting more pennies
Literally kys, sweetie.
