>Shifting from his previous blanket denials, President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia said on Thursday that “patriotically minded” private Russian hackers could have been involved in cyberattacks last year to help the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump.

>The evolution of Russia’s position on possible meddling in the American election is similar to the way Mr. Putin repeatedly shifted his account of Russia’s role in the 2014 annexation of Crimea and in armed rebellions in eastern Ukraine: He began by categorically denying that Russian troops had taken part before acknowledging, months later, that the Russian military was “of course” involved.

We already knew that at least some of the hackers were Russian due to using the fancy bear program. The big question is whether they were ordered to do it or were just trying to fish for info to make a quick buck.

Honestly I am not sure if Putin is just trying to fuck with people right now and sow discontent in the US. It would be easier to goad liberals and conservatives into a civil war, weakening the US then it would be to get Trump to hand the country over. Especially since we are doing such a bang up job jumping at each other's throats without any help.

If you seriously believe "Russian" hackers knowingly used and left behind evidence of a program called "fancy bear", an animal stereotypically associated with Russia, you are beyond all help.

You are correct. Fancy Bear was one of the group names and not the program. They have been around since before the election as well and only gained notoriety when Crowdstrike traced the hacks based on past hacks that they performed. Whether you believe this or not is up to you though.

Russia didn't hack the election, they leaked information about DNC corruption that voters deserved to know. The rest was the fault of voters being gullible to microtargeted propaganda campaign. Nobody is responsible for that but the electorate.

That is not to say our election wasn't hacked. Our elections have been hacked for decades now. We only had true democratic representation in the US following the civil rights act for a few decades. Ever since we've been on a downward spiral back to the anti-democratic norm for our country. In some states your vote will count for half on average just because you vote for the Democrat instead of the Republican. Republicans have gerrymandered the country to hell and back and our last election was not democratic.

It is the Republican politicians who have been hacking our elections, and most of their base has decided as long as it's the guys they usually vote for they're fine with moving toward a single party state. And the fake news media will distract from the core issue of voters being too impressionable and Republican politicians moving our country away from democracy to say the outcome of the last election was Russia's fault.

Russia didn't do anything.

Seth Rich leaked to WikiLeaks. Russia meme is bullshit track covering by the DNC to deflect respectibility and blame

"Hey Putin, did you hack the election?"
"Maaaaaaaaaybe." (coy smile)

All true. It's sad that they've gotten everyone so focused on this distraction that they refuse to even take notice of what the party they support is doing. Party loyalty is a frustrating thing.
