>Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives won a state election Sunday in their center-left rivals' traditional heartland, a stinging blow to the German leader's challenger in September's national vote.
>The western state of North Rhine-Westphalia is Germany's most populous and has been led by the center-left Social Democrats for all but five years since 1966.

>It is also the home state of Martin Schulz, the Social Democratic challenger seeking to deny Merkel a fourth term in the Sept. 24 national election.

>Projections for ARD and ZDF public television, based on partial counting, showed Merkel's Christian Democratic Union beating the Social Democrats by 33 percent or more to around 31 percent. They gave the Greens, the junior coalition partners in the outgoing state government, only 6 percent.

>Governor Hannelore Kraft's coalition with the Greens lost its majority in the state legislature. Conservative challenger Armin Laschet, a deputy leader of Merkel's party, was set to replace her.

>"The CDU has won the heartland of the Social Democrats," said the conservatives' general secretary, Peter Tauber, calling it a "great day" for the party.

This is the third state election in a row Merkel's party wins with a surprising overwhelming majority the Social Democrats expected to win.

For the Bundestagswahl Merkel will likely win with an overwhelming majority too.

It looks like the pendulum is indeed in full swing away from the conservative side.

The moderates are winning. The far right is shrinking as it should. All according to schedule.

Germans love to cry for refugees, while stealing peoples shit.
If Merkel is what they vote then EU is what germany deserves, never liked German culture to begin with.
>>
>>140285

Merkel's policies actually keep Refugees out of Europe (see Turkey Deal) and Merkel's party is the one deporting refugees, it's the SocDems and Greens that actually prevent refugees beinh sent back by refusing to declare african countries as safe. That's why Merkel saw a surge in votes in the past three state elections. Merkel is moving more towards the right again after realizing moving to the left was a mistake. She's also against Macron's Eurobonds and wants to get a deal for Britain that benefits both EU and Britain the most. Merkel really is the wrong scapegoat to choose. Her victory against the lefties in germany is a good thing.
>>
>>140325
>Macron's Eurobonds
Don't dismiss the idea. Done properly this could be a magic bullet.
>>
>>140325
I have high hopes for Macron's eurobond plan to be honest.
I would give him that shot
>>
>>140343
What? No. Bonds are already fucking negative real interest in Europe because of QE.
>>
>>140032
>The moderates are winning
The mean the globalists are winning.

>The far right is shrinking
You mean the conservatives are being terrorized
>>
>>140476
>The mean the globalists are winning.
It doesn't even fucking matter anymore. Automation is fucking over the economy far more than shipping jobs overseas ever will. Neither neoliberal globalism or old school economic nationalism will work. We're going to need to implement something very different to take advantage of the changing economic landscape, which we won't until things get really shitty. Misblaiming job lost on globalization will just obfuscate the issue.

Communism, the time is near

Do you see robot slaves walking around changing the elderly's diaper?

No.

We still need capitalism.

everything in this country is far right.
there are no voices for nationalization of industry.
Obama was a center right president, and that's the most leftist president we've had in history.
When the right doesn't get everything it wants, they just kick their feet and cry oppression.
Maybe it's time to allow genuine socialists a hand at governing and legislating to see how that works.

>everything in this country is far right.
You're a totally dishonest person

America is economically, extremely conservative. The divide is more on social or cultural grounds rather then economic ones, as the elites on top roughly have the same economic ideals.
