"The political turmoil comes against the backdrop of a worsening economic crisis. Despite having the largest proven oil reserves in the world, Venezuela is fast running out of cash, and its people have struggled for years with food and medical shortages, coupled with skyrocketing prices."

All I can think about is wishing I had Iron Man's suit so I can go help these poor people ...

Good for them!
>>
The socialist elite have been armed and the commoners have been disarmed completely according to reports. We are going to see genocide or one hell of an underdog victory..
>>
>>134348
The "socialist elite" haven't been in charge of anything in Venezuela since Chavez died. All power reverted right back to the aristocrats as soon as he did. President Maduro's first act was Plan Patria Segura which disassembled Chavez's government completely and removed all his reforms.

So while many of the woes Venezuela may be traced back to policies instituted by a would-be socialist trying to undo the damage of the elite oil barons before him, those are long dead, and all the current suffering is under an entirely "capitalist" motivated system. (Though, really, it seems less bent on encouraging free trade, and more bent on cannibalizing what's left of the nation and handing it over to the aristocrats who tried to oust Chavez so many times.)

>>134371
> ... this wasn't REAL socialism failing! ...
> ... it's the sabteurs that derailed it! ...
> ... REAL socialism has still never been tried! ...

I feel like I've heard this before.
>>
>>134371
The aristocrats are the elites though lol and they have no intention of any capitalistic or republic reforms. Eject your head from your ass.
>>
>>134406
Well they certainly did their damndest to end Chavez and his socialist reforms.

>>134405
Well, yes, it was an attempt at socialism, and it was failing. Sabotage was attempted multiple times (including a coup attempt orchestrated by the US), but it miraculously failed and Chavez held on, and continued to shit up the country.

...But socialism is certainly not what's happening now. The folks that spent all that effort to get rid of Chavez are now the ones in power. Blaming socialism at this point is even stranger than blaming Putin for communism (given that he's at last ex-KGB).
>>
>>134299
>All I can think about is wishing I had Iron Man's suit so I can go help these poor people ...

That is the most faggot thing I've seen posted in a long while.

The correct answer is to allow their country to riot and overthrow their shit socialist system.
>>
>>134432
>>134371
There's something that we call "boliburgueses" = the aristocrats that made profit out of Chavez's and by extension, Maduro's rule. Everyone knows they exist, and they get their profits from illegal business and guerrilla paramilitary groups.

Most of the people that are getting ANY sustainable income right now are chavistas, because only they can access government services that allow them to have things like food, medicines, luxuries, etc. Chavez nurtured and cultivated all of this for years.

Inform yourself before talking shit out of your ass.

t. a venezuelan

redd1t plz go.

>>134299
>All I can think about is wishing I had Iron Man's suit so I can go help these poor people ...

you could simply not fund protests against Chavez and not enforce an embargo, then Venezuela would have stability and you wouldn't need an iron man suit. It would save you a lot of money too.
>>
>>134639
>Most of the people that are getting ANY sustainable income right now are chavistas

ahhh yes, the old tale of blaming public employees "now only the supporters of the Party get muh jobs", propagating it as it's something that only you would know of since you live there.
You are a rightwinger who wants an iphone, instead of stability and prosperity.
>>
>>134299
Aren't venezuela's problems mostly related to low oil prices anyway? Would it make a difference if the country wasn't ruled by a "socialist" government?
Same shit will probably happen to Mexico and Algeria soon.
>>
>>134870
I suppose a centralized nationalized economy would be able to shift production types quicker, theoretically, so if Venezuela was socialist, or fascist natsoc, it might help.

Sadly, it seems it's just a kleptocracy at this point, so nadda ya can do.
>>
How is an Iron Man suit going to help 43,000% Inflation rate? lol.
>>
I hate it when people think in absolutes. ASPECTS of Socialism are good for an economy. Like a Social Safety net for retirees, the disabled, and the poor. It helps the ENTIRE economy, because instead of hiding money overseas and not doing anything with it, until they wait for a tax holiday, money is actually getting spent, doing stuff.

However, what Venezuela is doing is near ABSOLUTE Socialism, which is doomed to fail. Just like ABSOLUTE Capitalism is doomed to fail without Social Safety nets in place to balance everything out. Otherwise, you end up like what we have in the United States with a Corporate Oligarchy running our government for us. ;-)

IDK how you fix this, short of a Revolution, or the IMF Privatizing everything, which will lead to 30% unemployment rate and a revolution anyway... lol. Anyone got any ideas? I say they should invade somewhere, to distract the People from their misery, lol.
>>
>>134928
>I say they should invade somewhere, to distract the People from their misery, lol.
Don't encourage them, Venezuela has one of the bigger militaries in the region.

Granted, unless they can get US approval (or at least apathy) for the effort, they'd get put down right quick.

Currently, everyone's just looting a sinking ship. I suppose, once there's nothing left to loot, and everything's been burnt to the ground, they'll start over and the problem will fix itself.

Or something will boost the price of oil, and the process will just start over again, repeating the next time it falls. I suspect certain parties are just readying themselves for this.
>>
It is partly low oil prices, but they have very hard crude that only a few places in the world can refine it to usable petrol, like the United States, Russia, maybe a couple other places. That's it. I mean, people are predicting they're going to have a worse economy than Iraq before year's end...that's a problem... lol.
>>
>>134869
I'm skeptical that a champagne socialist would know more than a Venezuelan about Venezuela.
>>
>>134940
I think the implication is that's not a Venezuelan. Particularly given that said Anon is using the word "Boliburgueses".

Not that I have any doubt that the current government is corrupt as fuck, nor that Chavez's wasn't, just in a different way.
>>
Well, with a 43,000% inflation rate, i'd say the average Venezuelan doesn't know much about it either. Maybe it's time for an outside perspective?
>>
>>134952
Why would hyperinflation preclude a Venezuelan from knowing the events of their own nation?
>>
>>134954
>Can't afford a television
>Can't afford internet access
>Can't even afford a newspaper subscription

Well, it certainly helps slow down the distribution of information.
>>
>>134959
>>Can't afford internet access
but
>>
Nothing. It seemed as though he was implying that ONLY a Venezuelan could fix their problems. Seems like the Venezuelans in charge messed up, so maybe they need a fresh, outside perspective, is all I'm saying. Don't discount ANY help that might get them out of this predicament. ;-)
>>
That being said, I have no answers, lol. And you'll post, "Obviously..." so let me save you that post. ;-)
>>
but how would he post on 4chan without having internet access?

lol ;-)
>>
>>134868
against Chavez? Chavez is dead.
>>
>>134869
Stability and prosperity? Can you tell me when exactly there was prosperity and stability under this socialism?

The country has been in free fall since even before Chavez died.
>>
>>134432
>Sabotage was attempted multiple times (including a coup attempt orchestrated by the US), but it miraculously failed and Chavez held on, and continued to shit up the country.

This is hilarious!!, do you really think that a "coup orchestrated by US on a country that has half of US technology would "miraculously" just fail?
:')
>>
>>134348
Most likely genocide!
>>
>>134436
Slow clap.... Lmao. Broke my lurk to say fuck yeah m8
>>
>>135118
Not if you believe the shit the government feeds the gullible fucks who still actually listen to them.

to them Chavez IS Venezuela, and going against him, or his party is straight up going against Venezuela and being a traitor to the country.
He is eternal, celestial, and lives inside all "revolutionaries".
