>Theresa May has signed the letter that will formally begin the UK's departure from the European Union.

>Giving official notice under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, it will be delivered to European Council president Donald Tusk later.

>In a statement in the Commons, the prime minister will then tell MPs this marks "the moment for the country to come together".

>It follows June's referendum which resulted in a vote to leave the EU.

>Mrs May's letter will be delivered at 12:20 BST on Wednesday by the British ambassador to the EU, Sir Tim Barrow.
>>
Article 50 TRIGGERED
>>

Well, there it goes, from the vote that nobody asked for, to the campaign that nobody understood, to the result nobody wanted.

And it's been pushed through all because we're all to polite to mention anything.
>>
>>126823
>from the vote that nobody asked for,
>to the result nobody wanted.
Except for, you know, the majority of people who voted on it. Hence why it's happening.
>>
>>126823
One of the amazing take-home points from an outside observer is how the officials put in charge of said result got literally everything they wanted and then all promptly resigned.

It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. Okay it's still pretty hilarious.
>>
>>126824
Yeah, but the majority of Britain's didn't vote for it.

>>126825
Like Cameron the little pigfaced shit. He's just been forgotton about. Nigger needs to answer for some shit.
>>
>>126827
>but the majority of Britain's didn't vote for it.
But the majority of people who did vote, voted for it.
That's how voting works.

Millennial in the UK especially can't seem to grasp this the same way millennials in the US can't with their respective electoral defeats. If you agree a decision should be left up to popular vote, you actually have to go out and vote, and if your choice doesn't get picked, it's not suddenly "unfair" "unwanted" or "oppression" because you lost.
>>
>>126499
to soon...
>>
>>126823

>democracy is sacred and good except when we lose

The left-wing in a nutshell.
>>
>>126858
You should be glad we don't live in a democracy. If we did lived, the popular vote would have won the election.
>>
>>126827
Maybe you should have taught your kids to vote instead of become chavs
>>
>>126827
>>>/r/unitedkingdom

go bitch some more to retards who actually give a shit about your tantrums, leftard
>>
>>126499
Good on England. They can join us and Russia on facing down the EU (specifically Germany) and China when the next world war finally breaks out and we can bury enlightenment age democracies.
>>
>>126823
>>126827
People like you are the reason the modern 'left' is so fucked. People wanted the vote on the EU for a long time, it was an increasingly heated issue - that is why the conservatives offered it finally in a manifesto pledge, to try and see off more radical opposition.

Clearly you didnt want it, and clearly you didnt want the Conservatives to win the election. I think you should take a second to recognise you are not representative of a majority of British opinion.

The referendum was a popular issue, all major political parties campaigned for remain, there was a high turnout and leave won by a margin of 4%. There - done.
>>
>>126827
Did you have an electorial college cast the deciding vote for stay/leave? Or did Russia make up the majority of the leave votes?

Because no national voting system ever gets the majority of people out. And crying over the results while telling the populace they are idiots doesn't win you any favors.
>>
>>126861

Trump won fair and square, both candidates were aware of the rules and played accordingly, and Trump was the better player. You don't win at chess by taking the most enemy pieces. Brexit was clearly majority of votes=win, now go buy some vaseline for that asshurt, left-wing scum.
>>
>>126875
>next world war is gonna be US, UK, Russia, and China vs EU
by far the most unlikely alliance ever
>>
>>126899
>People wanted the vote on the EU for a long time
Yeah, people also like Coldplay and voted for the Nazi's, you can't trust people.

But seriously, it should've fallen to the younger generation to plead with the aging population not to vote to fuck us in the ass once again. The majority of the leave voters didn't understand the role of the EU and were led with aggressive campaigns that told us all our problems stem from Brussels, and if we vote out we'll have all these billions of pound to spend on infrastructure (lol).

But really they had no fucking clue what to do if they won, hence why everyone bailed the fuck out. And May's gonna resign ASAP.

Now it's just gonna be years of admin and negotiation and re-negotiation, where we have no real priority or leverage in our deals as we have few resources except military, the pound will stay weak, scotland will leave and it'll just be us, Wales and the fucking tourists.

God Save the Queen.
>>
>>127035
You want to know how I know youre delusional?
>>
as a member of the commonwealth i wish there was something i could do to stop the UK from breaking up.
>>
>>126499
God bless her. I just bought 201 GBP of junk online, and it was a mere $257.50. Thank you, May, you're my greatest ally.
>>
>>127441
Are you implying that you think the pound will go up significantly enough that you can profit exchanging GBP201, or that you got a good deal on junk, or are you satirizing?

If it's the latter, I gotta say I'm pretty well-educated and I really didn't quite get the subtlety.
>>
>>127461
I got a good deal on my junk. IT's much nicer (for me) when the exchange rate is 1:1.25 rather than 1:1.7 or 1:2.

But hey, a little satire never hurt no one either.
>>
>>127464
Wow, you're like Krieger from Archer who carelessly revealed to Russia the location of US Intel hq because he bought his cybernetics from the KGB:
>"But... the savings...."
>"Like 80 bucks you saved!"
>>
>>127202

It more than likely won't don't worry. It's literally just Nicola Sturgeon being autistic.

Scots know that they are better off in the UK no matter what. They won't be able to practice their socialism if they leave the UK.
>>
>>126968
US, UK, Russia and China vs islam
>>
>>126899
This.
I'm a left-leaning remainer, but ffs the vote has been cast and that's that. You can't argue with the result of a democratic vote.

We should be focusing our efforts on getting the best deal possible, solidifying our international trade etc. not on trying to undo the result of the referendum.

>>127035
>Yeah, people also like Coldplay and voted for the Nazi's, you can't trust people.
So you want a dictatorship?

I agree leaving the EU is not in our best interests, but it's what is going to happen. And that's a good thing, because doing a u-turn on Brexit would set a dangerous precedent for the government to ignore the results of future referendums/elections if the result doesn't suit them.

And we will be fine. It'll be rocky at first, but we're still one of the richest nations in the world. It'll all turn out all right, chaps.
>>
>>126823
and it was signed by the prime minister nobody asked for too
>>
>>127565
>I'm a left-leaning remainer,
stopped right there. I don't give a shit about liberal moaning over losing.
>>
>>127591
You probably should have read the rest of my post then, because I was agreeing with you.

Your knee-jerk reaction to someone who has a different political leaning makes you just as ignorant as the liberals you hate.
>>
>>127591
just keep reading.
>>
>>127633
This is your opinion, not an objective fact.

People are complex, and politics is subjective.
The "Us vs Them" mantra that's being spouted by both leftys and righters is overly simplistic, primary school-tier logic.

But that's not what this thread is about. This thread is about Brexit.
>>
>>126874

Yup, very much this.
>>
Brexit was a plan to weaken Europe.
There's no prizes for guessing (((who)) was behind it.
>>
>>127035
The older generations voted for it in the first place. It's their right to say it was a mistake, and vote against it.

I agree with them. I'm more than happy with the EEC, but not a political entity like the EU.
>>
>>129746
the illuminati?

financial and lawyer organizations with fake/mass supported groups.
Who makes money, what money is reinforced, which institutions and money making groups gain influence? Who loses face???
Who loses face and who takes the fall. Who gets elevated?
Who gets ignored?
>>
>>127638
The world is simple: some peoples deserve to live, others don't.
>>
>>129746
Brexit was a political game of chicken. Cameron didn't expect it to win otherwise he would not have announced the vote. Boris and others didn't expect it to pass, and would have used the defeat as a means to rally their base behind them. Now that it's gone through though, the Brits should make the best of it. While they'll likely lose out in some sectors, they can make pretty big gains in others.
>>
>>133383
> the growth of Empire, that is to say the expansion of the nation, is an essential manifestation of vitality, and its opposite a sign of decadence. Peoples which are rising, or rising again after a period of decadence, are always imperialist; any renunciation is a sign of decay and of death.

EU caged national ambitions. Now Britain and France wants to take rightful role of empire back, so they will overthrow EU and launch new wars for new land and resources. People want empires again. People are naturally drawn to them, and not expanding is a sign of decay.
>>
>>126965
>Trump won fair and square,
But not the popular vote which was his point.

>You don't win at chess by taking the most enemy pieces
Chess isn't a democracy.

>left-wing scum

Dumbfuck, the moronic pendulum is just going to swing back faggot, whether it be in 2020 or 2024. Your delineations of left and right are fruitless pissing matches of retardation.
>>
>>127565
>So you want a dictatorship?
He literally just framed a dictatorship as a negative consequence of unchecked democracy. Don't ask stupid questions with idiotic dishonest implications.Similarly to that anon I can name a plethora of occasions throughout history in which the majority in a simple first past the post democracy stripped the rights of the minority or was flat out retarded leading to the ruin of the nation or the rights of people.

Pure democracies are idealistic idiocy that belong only in Utopian fictions.
>>
So, when does Scotland leave?
>>
>>126875
Aside from being friendlier to refugees than you would like what exactly has the EU done to *you* for you to get all pissy about it and wanting to "face it down"?
>>
>>133388
Pure democracy has never worked. If it did we would be hanging gays on lamp posts right now.

We avoid mob mentality, which is exactly what a pure democracy is, because the mob is usually full of idiots.
>>
>>133472
Yes we would.
>>
>>133470
I agree. I just wish trump didn't believe in his heart of hearts he got the popular vote.
>>
>>133470
>Pure democracy has never worked.
It just depends how it's done. Simple majority is stupid so is absolute majority because you get really stupid elections with one candidate passing with 25% of the vote and then get ultra divisive elections where a guy wins with 51% and you have as many pissed off people as you happy ones.

We need a system that weeds out candidates until 70% or more of the voters are happy with a candidate.
>>
>>133396
The EU was created to maintain peace, spread socialism, and cage racial-national ambition. Peace is not in the nature of mankind, and only through war and the forceful acquisition of lebensraum can a nation realize its own greatness. Only peoples who form empires are worthy to be remembered in history books.
>>
>>133388
>But not the popular vote which was his point.

If the popular vote decided the election, Trump would have altered his campaign strategy to suit.
>>
>>133484
The main problem is colleges. /pol/ had a really good thread on it the other day, but students will travel to broaden their minds, get their education abroad, and be exposed to other cultures. This is not to be encouraged ever as it breeds the internationalization of our society. Foreigners should not be trusted nor empathized with. A society that does not inoculate its members with a burning hatred of other ethnicity and lust for their resources is one that is on its way to collapse.
>>

Ayyy, Now you can become one of the muslim countries, just get a lot of sand and camels in there.
