Not really a big deal. The memorable thing is that Ocala cops called out their fucking SWAT team and have had two helicopters hovering over the area for about four hours now. Meanwhile, there have been a dozen Dollar General robberies in the area in the past few months. They did send a squad car to take a report.
Someone (whoever authorized the helicopters) deserves for this to be a meme they have to live with for the rest of their lives.

Good story, OP. I hope they catch him before he gets someone's kid. Although the alligators got it first they would probably consider it an exotic dinner.
Growing up in India there were a dozen cobras of various species within a stone's throw of your house, guaranteed. Cobras are all pretty shy and do a lot of warning, so no one in my family ever knew anyone who ever got bit. Some of the small vipers were more aggressive, though.
A single cobra let go in Florida where there's a alot of space and hiding areas? I doubt anyone will ever see it again, and no one will be affected.
I can only imagine that if someone released an alligator in India, there'd be a similar reaction - massive freak-out, even though it isn't even as bad as half the potential wildlife dangers we have to deal with already.
