"...poaching has risen over the past few years, as demand from markets like Vietnam - where rhino horn is thought to have aphrodisiac properties..."

When are Asians going to give up on their bullshit stone age medicinal theories?
>>
Why not just drop a bunch of Viagra on them, like what they used to do with anti-commie pamphlets?
>>
>>119156
Why not stop shipping manufacturing jobs to Vietnam, where increased disposable income has led to increased poaching?

>When are Asians going to give up on their bullshit stone age
Asians will never be more than animals: If and when they give up their asian cult-ure, they will no longer be asian or dog.
>>
Why don't we just start shooting poachers? I mean, no fucking trial, no anything. Just a bullet to the head.

We already have more than enough people, I'd rather exterminate a few cunts instead of letting the rhinos die out.
>>
>>119229
If South Africa would stop issuing big game hunting permits, that would be a big step towards making it easier to ID and kill poachers on sight.

>>119211

>>
>poaching is spilling over into the fucking ZOOS
god fucking help me, this is getting ridiculous
>>

>2000 year old arsenic recipe used to kill cancer actually works
>1500 years of using wormwood to fight malaria is as good as any western medicine and practically free

Because it's not all bullshit
>>
>>119276
This is the same reason why chiropractors are still around, they do some good stuff, and some absolute horseshit, and there's just enough good stuff to make people come back

The problem with this is that it's a step away from evidence based medicine
>>
>>119229
India has implemented a shoot on site reaction to poachers, and now I believe it has the highest rhino population density in the world.

Now the media doesn't know how to react because the wildlife officials are killing poor local populations(who are the ones poaching for money) but at the same time saving the species in their parks.

But on the real...
Documenting and preserving is a relic from the 19th century that we still hold dearly to. If we kill off the rhino will we be so lost? I know it doesnt fit into our picture of Eden and everything staying the same from the last 5000 years into the unforeseeable future. Things die, and things go extinct.
>>
>>119346
>Things die, and things go extinct.

Yeah and if humans die, who cares right? Just let em go, morals are a relic from the 19th century
>>
>>119361
you completely failed to address anons point

A better response might have read something along the lines of
>umbrella species
>important role in their ecosystem
>charismatic, inspire people to learn about, study, and work in biological fields
>fuel tourism in the area

fuck off with your weaksauce morality tripe, if you want people to do something you need to provide a better reason than "i think you should because it's the right thing to do"
>>
>>119398

Shut the fuck up you apologist for rampant stupidity.

It's not my job to convince morons by using nice words. It's their job to do some research before spewing nonsense. Therefore, the only thing worth doing is pointing out the flaws in their stupid opinions.

You're an idiot if you think that person cares about any of these things. Once you need to use pragmatism to defend saving a life, you've already lost the argument.
>>
>>119346
>Now the media doesn't know how to react because the wildlife officials are killing poor local populations(who are the ones poaching for money) but at the same time saving the species in their parks.

So, we're not hearing about it I guess?
>>
>>119430
The reason why nobody takes your morality bollocks seriously is because it's a weak position, also, having different morals isn't stupidity, and one could easily accuse you of the same stupidity if instead of giving actual reasons you default to morality

>>119433
You don't know what he cares about, the only thing you know is that he's pragmatic

>If South Africa would stop issuing big game hunting permits, that would be a big step towards making it easier

These guys have a long history of trashing their precious resources in order to save a dollar. I mean, they are so terrible at managing their countries that they have to sell kill-rights on endangered species to prop up their coffers. There is SO many things wrong with that. Things like endangered species should be solely governed by an international committee. No single country should have the authority to exterminate a species from the planet just because it's in their backyard.
>>
>>119611
Who would pay for the conservation then? Because right now those countries tend to foot the bill because it's in their backyard.
>>
Lol in the zoo
>>
>>119195
That won't do anything aside from drive the price up. The only way to counter East Asian medicine is with education.
>>
>>119346
If the animal dies off purely due to competition, it's fine. If it's intentionally killed off for status or for sale on the black market, both of which are purely human motives, then you should have a problem with it.

Anti-conservation is what lead to the decimation of a lot of predators, causing things like the yearly plague of deer.
>>
>>119244
http://www.conservationmagazine.org/2015/10/what-if-we-banned-trophy-hunting-in-africa/

A lions share of the revenue that keeps African conservation areas running is actually those permits. Hunting over there isnt like hunting in the Americas. You get given a permit and a specific animal. Not species, a named and identified animal. It brings in fucktons more than normal tourism.

http://www.africanskyhunting.co.za/articles/hunting-and-conservation.html

Hell the conservation efforts funded by lion and elephant hunts has done wonders for local populations in south africa as nations banning hunting altogether are seeing these animals vanish. If you are thinking of corruption of the local governments its zimbabwe, botswanna and a couple others that had the problem before dismantling the efforts all together. South Africa is the model the rest of Africa needs to follow for these efforts

Really thinking about hunting asians and killing them for their yellow skin....
>>
>>119922
These are all immediate issues. The deer, the predators, the rhinos. Earth, nature, as a growing living thing on its own does not have a consideration of time. People get upset because they hate seeing things change within their short lifespan. If the environment changes from something we are used to seeing, it scares people. They see it leading away from some loose concept of what they believe things "should be". Life has been growing, dying, and changing for what 3 billion years now. These changes are not due to purely a simple concept of Darwinism. Its not always a slow gradual process of competition. We are the volcano, the meteor.

Sure it sucks to see things go so quickly, but to say that it is unnatural is bogus.
>>
>>119346
I like rhinos. They're unique too.
>>
>>119211
This. Beware the Yellow Horde.
Like locusts sweeping the land.
>>
>>119276
In all fairness, a lot of medicine today is simply a more refined version of herbal medicine back then. For example, doctors use to prescribe willow bark before it was discovered that salicylic acid was the active component. Now we just take aspirin tablets over the counter.
