YouTube under siege as porn is hidden in its privates

>Pirates are using the site's video hosting services to host adult videos. And there appear to be very little that Google, which owns YouTube, can do about it.

I don't see how this is an issue if it's hidden and not actually showing up anywhere on youtube. This sounds like something that solely effects Google, and I'm not about to shed any tears for them.

Yeah in fairness, I really would rather see a concerted approach by all the major porn video upload sites to keep full-length vids less than say 3-6 months old off, only providing the preview vids from porn companies for new releases, so that superfans are more or less guaranteed to subscribe to the site/star of choice unless they torrent (wait for porn? what?).

Because even though porn quality has continued to improve over the years, I think we all agree that we want it to improve more, faster, harder.

Fuck off. Acting, cinematography, choreography, story, editing production value in general, general video length -- all of these have room to improve in quality for both amateur and pro porn. Also, the market for porn-for-couples-to-watch is still young and needs all these things to mature to be able to open up fully.

Finally, there is of course VG porn. That definitely needs the financial participation of the community, which for one thing requires a moddable demo version and for the rest of us not to pirate the full version until 6-12 months after release.

I agree. And that's exactly what 3D porn already was. For whatever reason, it didn't catch on. I think it's because it wasn't really a huge improvement over what POV already does, and neither will VR. Or if it will be, it will only be a marginal one. The question was how to take porn further. This doesn't seem possible. As animals, there is only a certain set of things that we enjoy, and that's it. You can't make up new things from thin air. You can't make a new color.

Obviously the technology is not the same. That doesn't matter though. There is a theory about why porn (and also movies in general) works in the first place, and it says that it's because, to the brain, there is virtually no difference between real sex and what you can see of it on a screen. That would seem to be the problem with technologies that are meant to make porn more like real life. It is already like real life. The only thing missing is the sensation of touch, which obviously will continue to be mostly missing from new tech like VR. But that doesn't matter that much either, because 90% of arousal is triggered by visual stimulus, and that's why we have porn.

I'm an early adopter no more. Let others do the work. I'll wait a few years and see what happens.
