They more efficiently channel the energy from your legs.

it doesnt make much sense to me
two dials
right side goes from H to L top to bottom makes sense
left one goes from L to H top to bottom
I don't get it

H & L? What the fuck?

Regardless, what's to understand? One changes the gears from large to small in the front, and the other in the back?
You might want to downshift coming up a hill so it's easier to turn the pedal; because while you're getting less power out of that downshift, you're keeping the momentum of the pedal, which can be more important at this point. (Rather than keep that higher power output in a higher gear, but be unable to complete a pedal.)

You should be able to pretty much feel out whatever gear you need to be in, senpai.
>>
>>989370

But people always say fixies feel better
I wish I was smart enough to convert my bike
shifting never made sense to me
its a bike not a car and i dont want to do shit with my thumbs and accidental click too far
I dont get it
>>
>>989371
>But people always say fixies feel better
No, it's just a different feel from riding because you cannot coast. It's also less shit to brakedown, whatever.
It's not going to be eaiser to ride or anything.

>I wish I was smart enough to convert my bike
Not that hard, RJ the Bike Guy has an excellent video on Youtube about doing just that with just a shitty old bike.
He breathes very heavily, check it out, his next video may be his last!!!

>shifting never made sense to me
It's OK, in my country, we take good care of our retarded, I don't mind telling you.

>its a bike not a car and i dont want to do shit with my thumbs and accidental click too far
You're not seriously going to fuck up your bike by going a click to far, you're just gonna be like 'Oh, shit. Better shift down a gear, I'm pushing just a bit more than I intended to push, hmmm'. No big deal.
>>
>>989377
People always do it to old vintage bikes but can you do it with something more modern?
>>
>>989378
Certainly.

You're gonna need to probably get a new cog and chain is all. Other wise, go find a bike and strip it like a lady.
>>
>>989380
hold on
COGS and... chains!?!?
Slow the fuck up and help me out

How do I do that?
Does every bike shop have what i need to do it?
How long / expensive a project is this
a week of labor
$400?
>>
why do people remove the brakes when they convert their bikes
>>
>>989385
What? Less, you faggot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sInijI1vr34

You should be able to just cut everything off your bike, and just change it out.
>>
>>989394
Fixes are 'meant' to be rode on a track, where you cannot have brakes, so in a way, having no brakes on your fixie is the original way to go. Some messengers value a simple bike as they can get, because there is less to go wrong, so having no brakes is one less thing. Also, you can skid to stop, which considered faggoty or not, is a skill that some people value. Also, it's also just a trend at this point.
No big.

I suggest you keep at least a front brake.

Think of the two levers as one single dial. Clockwise for harder, counter-clockwise for easier. Or the other way around if it's like that on your bike.

You must live in a very flat place.
>>
>>989370
so why do I need both front and rear dials? I'm not well versed in the inner workings of cages, but you can usually pick only one gear. You can even get automatic.

Also, is there automatic transmission motorbikes/bicycles? Do you pick the gear on e-bikes? So many questions

finally add a triple chainring to the Pinion.

You'd get 8.316 gears, which would be quite insane and impractical.

But how small and how big would your smallest and biggest gear be?
>>
>>991435
Why don't yo do the math.
>>
>>991441
because I'm too stupid
>>
>>991435
Sheldon had a similar idea and got up to 63 speeds.
>>
>>991435
why not use a 12sp rear and 4 ring chainring for 12,096 gears

now here's where you go fucking pro with this setup. TWO CHAINS

that's right, run one chain from the pinion to the rohloff, and the other from the crank to the rear cassette
