I don't remember the source or anything like, but IIRC people sitting in cars take in much more air pollution than cyclists or pedestrians.

Any confirm?

Anyway, I don't really worry about it that much. I'd rather deal with air pollution than a sedentary lifestyle

Air is usually good here. But I do have to deal with: gravel road dust during dry spells, forest fire smoke from the north, shit kicked into air during harvest season, agricultural chemical spraying. Rode past a field where a farmer was injecting anhydrous ammonia, nasty shit, burns eyes, nose, mouth, throat. Gets in clothing so you keep on getting whiffs of it far down the road. A few times I rode through the chaff cloud of a combine.

That's false, modern cars are fitted with cabin air filters, if anything cyclists take up the most carcinogens due to their increased breathing.

I rode today anyway too.
Not polluted as santiasko but the firewood's smoke can be seen when fog is gone.

Rider from Tokyo here. Sometimes I go out and get a sore throat, other times it's fine. I have a mask but I neglect to wear it. Though some of the vehicles here are real nasty. 2-stroke mopeds just kicking out soot that sort of thing.
