Share your cool pics! Saw this frame last fall in Toronto, anyone know what it is?
>>
>>968739
Never understood this frame
Are you supposed to stick something into the top tube ?
>>
>>968741
Maybe the batteries for the electric engine of the rear Wheel.
>>
>>
>start a "cool/interesting bike thread"

It's a VanMoof.
>>
>>968748
Could this be better than a chain drivetrain?
>>
>>968759
no
>>
>>968747
no thats just an internal gear hub pretty sure its a 5/7 speed

electric ones are much much bigger
>>968759
fuck no even shafts are shit reason why even superbikes still use a chain
>>
>>968761
It also has a drum brake

They do make mini geared electric hubs not much bigger though

the front wheel has a generator on it to power the headlight and the tailight, hidden inside of the top tube

How on Earth are those handlebars usable at those angles? The front ones are maybe okay but the back ones are just stupid; I can't even picture how you'd hold them.
>>
>>969021
Why isn't cardan drive a thing?

What are the downsides of it?
>>
>>969072
The Velobleu bikes along the Cote D'Azur use them. For 6 months they were fine but now you have to spin the wheels before unlocking to make sure the drive isn't slipping. Now they replace the broken ones with chainsand they're miles better.
>>
>>968748
Even more pant leg shredding capabilities
>>

Yes. Wow. We've figured it out. Somebody get Specialized on the phone there is gonna be a HUGE revolution in the peloton next year

Don't shafts have at advantage with speed, but lack torque big time?

Where I live, back when it was fixies, it was Flying Pigeon at a 900% markup for the special snowflakes who were far too special for a fixie

Now that it's "cyclocross/touring" bikes, it's VanMoof for the special snowflakes. The markup is still there but it's less harsh
>>
>>969168

>>
>>969926
if you actually ever rode bikes, you would have worn through the crotch on multiple pairs of pants and decided to just use the proper attire
>>
>>969950
Not on good pants.
I have a pair of 14oz selvedge jeans ($350) that I cycle in on fixed gear and mini velos and it's still perfect

Maybe on poor people cargo shorts you'd get crotches torn
>>
>>969954
it took me longer to wear through the crotches of my raw denim but it still happened.

you don't put in the mileage on your bikes because you spend most of your day shitposting on /fa/, /n/, and presumably some other boards where you're just as despised

Custom Fatbike done for the Iditabike race in Alaska, sometime in the 1990-1992 timeframe.

Fatbikes and wide tires didn't exist, but they needed more float over the snow, sooooo... Two ordinary rims welded together and alternate spoked to normal MTB hubs. 4 tires, 4 tubes.
>>
>>968759
>using gears to transfer rotation instead of a chain

No, it's a retarded design. Chains are far more efficient. This is Bearings 101.

Yes, yes it is.

This crazy tire gives me silly levels of snow grip. So good. Guess the overall bike fits this thread too!
>>
>>973240

wtf is going on with that stem spacer situation

>>978424

Amazing. I heard about the welded rims but thought they somehow spanned them with a fatty tire... I'm a fool

>>Amazing. I heard about the welded rims but thought they somehow spanned them with a fatty tire... I'm a fool

That's been done too and can work.. it's just more rare as fat rims came out around the same time as real fat tires.
