In 2005, media IT student Christian Bode developed this fake subway system for Bremen as a Bachelor project, including a corporate design study and a website with line maps, fare information, a working trip planner, tourist information and company history.

The (german language) website can be found in the internet archive
https://web.archive.org/web/20051124212728/http://www.die-bremer-ubahn.de/
The current site is somewhat unmaintained, broken and misses a lot of the fake information.

Sounds like my dream uni project. Too bad my region is already too far along with the transitway corridor planning.

Reminds me of the student who proposed converting Atlanta's beltline into a cool transportation corridor.

To clarify, he didn't actually do any real transit planning, the lines are pretty much the existing tram network with a reduced number of stations and he says right in the first paragraph of the thesis that the system would in no way be economically viable.
The work was more on the design aspect, such as conducting surveys about prefered color combinations and logos and building the website from that. The thesis is here, though also in german: http://netzspannung.org/database/text/329402/BachelorReport_ChristianBode_HBU.pdf

So was it some sort of fictional stadtbahnization scenario for the existing tram system or some fictional dream heavy metro network which would have either replaced or complement the previous tram network?

Speaking of dream metro networks, do we accept real life transit agencies who have overambitious expansion dreams compared to resources available? ;-)

Sure, why not? Pic unrelated.

From the same person:

So does that mean personally done fantasy maps? Not mine but from a forum I post on.

Heavy metro, which probably would have meant to close most of the surface trams.

Most of the current tram lines are short (15-20 minutes city to terminus) so that a heavy metro would bring any significant time savings.

It could have been interesting for the eastern branches of tram line 1 and 4 (4 and 5 on the fantasy metro map), which have travel times of about 40 minutes from the city. There already run express trams that shave off about five minutes and line 1 also has a commuter rail station at its terminus.

Same goes for the northern suburbs where various bus lines run to the terminus of tram lines 2, 3 and 10 (or fantasy metro lines 1 and 2). It is now also served by a commuter rail line every 15 minutes.

It's sad how there is no proper regional rail system in Finland, especially in the populated southern part.
At least there is this map and I think that this is a quite realistic idea.

And here's the more detailed map. There are a few differences, some done on purpose, others by accident that I just haven't bothered changing.

Nice get, most of those lines make absolutely no sense btw.
