ITT Photos of transport that are comfy or cosy.
Love PATCO's shit-yellow lights.
Makes it nostalgic in-the-moment.
The new trains blow.

>>943016
For some reason this looks scary
>>943318
I think it's definitely designed to be imposing.
the color and shape of the engine in the gif plus the angle it was shown at are just so similar.
But no, mine's not really comfy at all, you're right.

Falling off the top deck and getting minced by the wheels and cobblestones?
Seriously though if the wires went down everyone on the top deck would be fried.
>>953861
I guess in those days they didn't have so much consideration for people who'd be so utterly retarded to fall off the tram.
You're right about the wire, tho.
>>942668
Ferry ride.
>>953861
If that's what I think it is, it's a 120v tramway
And if it doesn't touch anyone, it'll short out on the return anyway

For the curious: The same subway system now.
Trains set to be replaced with driverless ones soon.

Glaswegians, so pretty much the same thing.

nationalised tram networks when?
Corbyn pls
>>960509
>coal-powered climate-polluting shit
because a single heritage locomotive is enough to chance climate.
Fun fact, all these "clean" electric trams and trains are also coal-powered. As well as your computer. Most electricity still comes from old-as-fuck dirty coal-burning power plants.
>>960560
>Most electricity
You dingus.
>>957692
How did serco ruin it?
Rear view from the top on Alexander Dennis E400h City. Cosy as hell, is this a first for double deckers?
>>961646
Pic of rear from outside. Apparently the E400H is very smooth too. Can't wait to try it.
>>960560
We don't all live in the retarded states of america
>>961694
It's everywhere the same. Hydroelectricity dominates only in a few US states. Also in Austria and Switzerland in Europe. Everywhere else you live in steam age.

>>962480
Technically nuclear means steam power. It does not make much of a difference if you burn uranium or coal to hat up the water. Even worse France did not build any new plants for decades. Now they can only meet demand
by importing electricity from Germany. Mainly from coal power plants.

For me, any transport early in the morning, either before dawn or right at dawn, is cozy. I'm not sure why. From scenes like this to pre dawn trips to the airport to road trips that start long before most people are awake all bring me a cozy feeling
>>971476
So then you must like the blue hour?
>>971519
Maybe he does, but everyone still hates Zurich with its shitty trams and buildings only american tourists find pretty

- lots of security cams: checked
- micro platforms: checked
- tiny safety guards: checked
must be Australian
>>971586
wtf is wrong with you everyone in zurich loves their trams because they're relatively fast (dat absolute priority) and comfy and go most places in the city
>tfw they voted against closing down trmas and building a metro in the 1970's
>tfw they've built a huge extension a few years ago which reaches all the way to the airport
>>944605
best station :^)
>>944605
they were renovating the roof on this last year, put up what i can only describe as bunting instead of safety tape - looked super cozy.
>>947049
Love Old Mill.
>>972833
did they actually build a triple-decker bus for the shoot?
>>973806
Yes, and even took it to a tour afterwards.
The top floor is detachable.
>>973939
Did they do any stability testing?
https://youtu.be/kLUqAUu9y2Y?t=3m34s
>>973939
There's sadly hardly any hard data about this bus. I know that the schenes where it was used the other cars were made to move more slowly and the film was sped up afterwards.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FArmRa092H0
So, math spergs of the board, assuming the relative speed of the bus compared to the other cars and further assuming the footage has been sped up 2x - 4x, how fast could the bus take the turns?
Pouring rain outside the tram stop shelter
Lots of transport going on down there
Tram going through a holy site of the ancient Germans.
Even the Celtic druids supposedly gathered there - and today the hippies, the wiccans, and the neonazis still do.

>Those Vitrolite Tiles
>Most Stations still have them buried behind the current walls
>Eglinton is the only station left with them in tact
>We might loose them when the platform is moved north for the Crosstown
>>977384
Well we are actively trying to modernise the system and make it less third world, it's just taking a while since no one in the City or Province seems to want to fund the TTC. Sure they'll pay to expand the system, but god be damned if they actually put in to money to operate and maintain it.
Still thats more than I can say for other Metro systems in North America
>>977384
I mean that pic is from 1968 but a lot of line 1+2 are pretty set in the past. We're just now replacing the same turnstile system we've had in place since the 50's. Still comfy tho
Manually operated turntable for the Southern Pacific's narrow gauge line through Owens Valley, California. The locomotive pictured was the last operating steam engine on the SP, running until August 1959.
Looking down on a busy road with a tram line in the middle. Too bad my camera is so shitty.
>>977877
A large highway and a major train line also run through this valley. Dunno if you can see them very well.
>>980510
You have to pay 1.00 to 1.50 € and climb up 37m of stairs to the tower. Then you can just hang out there as long as they're open, which is from 10 AM to 6 PM. It is very cool.
Here's a picture of the city center up north. The same tram line runs east in front of that church with the two belfries and then turns north again, along the area with trees.
>>980542
Some cagers were stuck in traffic down there.

Here's a view from the castle's battlements, not from the main tower. You can see the headquarters of Dr. Oetker in the middle.
>>980545
Where are the UFO landing spots?
>>956180
why not?
>>974062
unfortunately there isn't really anything to scale. You can watch the video at 0.25 speed and the turns, while blurry, don't look too bad. Beyond that there isn't really any way to identify speed since the cars' speed is adjusted and everything else is constant.
You couldn't even use the views from the windows from the inside since that's easily greenscreened.
>>977386
I can confirm that Montreal's Metro is doing at least something to modernise and seems to be set for expansion.
My contribution to the thread.
>>980873
To the south/southwest, cleverly tarned as a helicopter landing spot.
>>972641
It's Wondabyne, not Woy Woy.
I've always wanted to get off there when i go past it going to Sydney.
>>947072
And this would be the bridge at Gosford maybe? Just up from where the trains go to sleep at night.
>>981028
Yep, that's the one. You know you're in a weird place though when the people in suits are the ones fucked in the head and those you'd normally expect to be are half okay.
Wondabyne is a really comfy place though, especially since the likelihood of threats appearing in the form of junkies is low due to its remoteness. You could sit there all day with a sandwich.

Australia has the worst car interiors and I can always tell it's Australia because of those stupid yellow handrails.

are yellow handrails that uncommon in trains? they sure aren't in buses and trolleybuses and trams
