my god, man--what are you doing?
sweet crib, tho. pretty jelly tbqhwyf.
I love steel, but God almighty this carbon bike is fantastic. The group is dura-ace 7800. I just ordered some compact bars and a new stem. Soon TM
>>940830
I mailed the bike ahead, but most of the tools were shipped by the movers.
I did recently buy it a companion though.
>>940833
here's a frame with a modern paint job that actually looks classy. not the fork and wheel decals, but that frame looks really nice.
she looks pretty fast. never seen that make before.
>>940820
USAfag, actually.
Mosso fork has been decent. This is a commuter/all road/touring bike, so it doesn't see too much rough tech stuff. It's kinda stiff, but it's light and has been fine. It clears 29x2.1 with a fender so I'm happy.
>>940820

>>940884
Thanks. No, but I own a JTS and have ridden a Sutra... both excellent. I imagine the Unit is also great.
>>940887
Nice. Where / how do you usually ride? I like Stinky but the weight puts me off... one of my friends has one, and it's like 40lbs. My upgraded Tanuki is 27lbs, and he can't keep up.
Obviously for different purposes, but I prefer a well rounded bike.

TT bike attached. China carbon frame, borrowed wheels. Bought it for cheap from a tri-guy who destroyed the internal cable routing with his sweat so the rear derailleur cable is ran full length and taped to the bottom of the frame, with a mountain bike rock guard over the top of it for extra aero.
Put down 40:49 Sunday at my State TT Championship (only 30km) -- lost by 5 seconds )^: -- back to riding road bikes again and they are comfy.

My friend just built this from the spokes-up, and learned a valuable lesson about the weight of titanium frames. It should still be a good ride.
>>940955
Legit, kudos to you.
Wish I could find bikes like that. Obviously it's your bike but I think mtb drops would be more appropriate.

Perhaps a more subdued red on the bar tape. I like the color it adds but it clashes with how classy that frame is. Love the 7800 shifters btw.

I live in Moldova, no real trails out here. Building one right now with some dudes. We've got a park downtown, and I usually ride down the 200 stairs, when there's no one outside. Can't risk riding by myself on the trails, cause there will be no one to rescue my sorry arse. Lemme tell you, there's only one Kona in the entire country. A 2004 Stinky, which I intend to buy. You can imagine the shithole I live in.
I'm not a lightweight cunt, and I want to build a tank.
The style is called "streetetz" in russian. And that's why I'm getting a Kona.
24" wheels, 3.0" wide Gazzaloddis, and as much travel as you can afford, combined with girls, beer, and drops on a flat surface. 25kg is considered lightweight for a fully equipped bike. I love this tiny subculture.
>>941000
What's the fucking difference. You wanna see my Hussefelt cranks, or what?
>>941164
Props, if you find it fun then ride what you want how you want.
Over here that sort of stuff is called hucking (big drops) or sometimes urban freeriding (not so much massive drops, more speed over large gaps with flowing routes).
My bike's around 24kg, I don't ride this one much as it's such a pig to go long distance or up hills and there aren't many decent spots that close to me.
>>940994
what porteur rack you got on there, looks nice
We out here
>>941167
In Russia, streetetz came from urban freeride, but it involves drinking, jumping, disturbing people and stuff. It's not a riding style. It's like a state of your soul. Basically, pic related.
I ride 15+km to the city every time I get out. Imagine that on my tiny single speed UMF Hardy. That's just the commuting. Now include the 50km of riding through the city. I guess a 20+kg monster won't be a problem since I'll only be riding in the downtown area. More people to scare, ya know...
>>941167
Just noticed you bike's single speed. How does it feel to ride a SS full suspension?
I want to make my Kona SS when I buy it. Fell in love with it. No useless and ugly cables and shifters. Brakes only.
>>941172
It's not single speed, it has an 11 speed internally geared hub (IGH). It's an Alfine 11, it works well but I'll swap it back to a 9 speed derailer soon and then the IGH will be going on a shorter travel bike that I'm going to build. Will probably end up dropping about 1kg of weight, not that it really matters on such a heavy bike.
Single speed probably isn't a good idea unless you live in a flat area and will only be doing drops. Also bear in mind that if you do go single speed you'll still need a sprung chain tensioner in the back, likely a dual pulley one that's going to be as big and ugly as a derailer.

those drilled brake levers are blingin', what are they?
that tape is definitely not blingin'. take note: this here is the case against white bartape, folks.
>>941169
It's an older version of the Cetma Halfrack. It's well made, strong and simple, but the mounts leave something to be desired. Ok if you're happy with p-clamps for mounts... If I were buying new today, I'd be really tempted by a pass&stow rack.
>>941105
>>941131
Pretty much; that build came in at 27lbs with strong/but heavy wheels. They were expecting something just bit more than the bike they sold me ( now 21lbs ).
>>941101
I almost admire the "I don't give a fuck" perspective here, particularly vis-a-vis theft deterrent, but still, it's pretty bad.
I mean at least get another slick up front, either ditch the left lever or add a brake, and the extraneous big ring is triggering my autism
otherwise it's kinda OK. doing the rear gear properly would be more trouble than the bike is worth, but the other stuff makes sense to do, IMO.

(more than one)
>>941167
Okay, what the fuck is that frame actually called? I've tried permutations of "steady eddy" and "plan" and got jack shit. Is it euro market or something?
>>941187
I kinda like the dirty white tape, that may be my ghetto sensibilities though. Probably doesn't make any sense with the unnecessarily expensive brake levers, they do feel fantastic. Way more surface area than most old school levers. They've got kind of a campy lever feel. Recommend them in the gum color if it suits the bike color. Now I'm embarrassed about the bar tape :( Shit was dirty within an hour of putting it on.
>>941247
I'm kinda with you on that, when I had white bar tape I felt it looked wrong until it was a bit filthy
But white bar tape is really fucking faggy to begin with which is why I tore the whole thing off and put black on there, like normal people
>>941196
really nice, but too rich for my blood
>>940880
Brappin', obviously.
>>941164
Sweet bike man... it's BURLY. What a tank. Bet you would shred some pretty gnarly hucks and chunky downhills with it... better have good brakes.
My bike is heavy for a hard tail, but only weighs about 16 kgs(35 lbs). I run very similar tires to yours, equally thick and heavy. In fact heavier, as I have 26" wheels. Nearly 2kg per tire muaha. So good on chunky as hell, raw, loose, steep mountain slopes... I can run ~7psi on the gnarliest stuff. I used to use a 24" of this tire just on the rear for a while too which had it's benefits, but prefer the extra volume and roll-over of the 26.
But yeah, I would rate your bike a wouldstairhuckwith/10
>>941170
Aww yis, just getting into some rigid trail riding myself. Shit's challenging, intense and surprisingly so much fun even after running plush long travel forks for years.
>>941231
Elan DH Pro, it's a rebadge of the Remec DH Pro. Elan is a Slovenian company but I'm not sure about Remec. It's from the early 2000s and one of the first largely carbon fibre DH frames (the front triangle, the rear swingarm is aluminium and made by Risse).
I'm yet to find out what the Steady Eddy thing is all about. It's painted on under the clear coat and not just a sticker so my best bet would be Elan put it there, perhaps the nickname of one of their sponsored riders. I haven't been able to find any other frames with it on or any other photos of this one. I think last time I looked I found less than 10 others from Elan and maybe under 20 from Remec.
It's an interesting frame at the least and actually fairly decent for its age, due to its rarity (not saying it's valuable) I don't think I could bring myself to get rid of it.
aaaaand, here's my awesome-sauce "mad max" sooper commuter.
>>941263
It's a nice machine.. no need to get rid of it, ride it till it dies. Ever do any hike-a-biking up steep mountains with it?
>>941260
That's not his bike just what he's aiming for, he doesn't have the frame yet.
I'm surprised your bike is so heavy, my old fully was about that and not particularly light for what it was (100/120mm travel, IGH in the rear, fairly heavy tyres). What on earth are you running that weigh nearly 2kg each? Even my 2.6s aren't that heavy and the rubber on those is thick as fuck.
>>941264
Milk jug wind deflectors?
>>941265
There aren't any mountains around me (south of the UK, like 20 miles out from London), just typical countryside stuff. Due to the wide gearing from the IGH it can actually climb better than you'd think as long as it's not too long, once it's back to 9 speed it'll be strictly downhill I'd I'll be pushing it up.
>>941170
Ay rigid ss bro
>>941266
>>I'm surprised your bike is so heavy
I'm not, it adds up quick. Fairly heavy 2.8kg steel frame, dropper post, 170mm (lowered to 150) coil fork. Tires weigh in at about 1850g each to be more exact. Duro Leopard, old school. So thick you could probably call it a 2.5 or 3 ply. These allows me to shred the most jagged rocky and steep slopes imaginable. Especially good traction after I added custom siping, as they are an older tire model that come stock with big unsiped lugs. Sipes for the win.
>>Milk jug wind deflectors?
Basically... some 2L pop bottles. Cheap yet effective. Blocks wind to the hands, and keeps my controls and gloves clean from nasty road spray over the winter. Might just keep 'em on over the summer so I can run thinner gloves.
>>There aren't any mountains around me
That's too bad... I know there's still some good tracks to ride in and around the UK, some cool quarries to ride and whatnot. Definitely should travel and ride some big mountains with that thing though! Hike-a-biking and riding down from summits is the best.
That's cool you can climb the thing though, what's it weigh? Geo probably sucks for that, but I know almost any bike can climb if you gots legs and skills. I do lots of uphill pedalling too with my monster tires... but I run a 20t - 36t granny gear which helps a lot. Still a lot of weight to push, but wanna be burly for the descents.
>>941272
>Duro Leopard
The 3.0s? That makes sense then, they didn't look that big in the photo so thought you'd gone back to something smaller. I'd like to try those one day (if I've got the clearance), but they're so damn expensive and hard to find in the UK.
>some cool quarries to ride and whatnot
Yeah there's a quarry near me, long since abandoned. It's very fun to ride but quite a trek along some main roads and I don't drive. A buddy of mine recently got his license so maybe I'll hit it up with him. There's also a park nearby (Chicksands if you wanna look it up) but the same situation as above.
>what's it weigh?
Was 24kg with an older two spring Boxxer, the newer one on it now should make it a bit lighter but then I've stuck the heavier tyres on it. I estimate switching to 9 speed will drop about 1kg.
Gearing is 36t up front, lowest gear on the IGH is equivalent to a 39t cog. I used to run a 32t up front but it was too much torque and would pull the axle out of the dropouts.
Michelle,

Before her upgrades
Literally just picked it up from the shop. It was sitting in storage for about 25 years. Had no saddle, tires or cables. Pretty happy with it, most of what been put on is period correct. Rides amazing, forgot how quick these things are.

>>941315

>>941354
The frame was made custom for my dad when he was in England. Don't know who made it.
I was thinking of replacing the wheels, seeing as i'm going to be riding it a lot. Tubular tires are going to be an issue eventually.
>>941194
I agree with everything you posted. The whole bike was built with spare parts I had laying around, it's not like I chose to ride with a knobbie on front and slick on back, or ride with a single brake. I will most definitely "upgrade" these things in time.
I just needed something other than my nice roadie to leave outside and kick around, and quickly.

Are those stainless steel frames? What's a good/affordable stain. steel frame for a rigid mtn bike? I kind of want something 90's mtn bike inspired, Craigslist doesn't have much, can't find a Zaskar.
Pic is my bike. The frame isn't bad but I wish I could carry a second bottle inside. It's probably too much $$ to upgrade it, I hate the shifters and my rear brake lever is fucked, it's integrated into the shifter. tfw no disc brakes too. Bought in 2010, I neglected it for a few years before learning to fix it.
I was looking through this messenger album and find riding through cities on those mountain bikes is the coolest shit:

On-one, Ragley, Cotic, Kona. Soma if burger.
Haven't posted in a while (at least not showing off in PYBT).
Was new to bikes and wasn't yet aware of cyclocross bikes, so chose a flat-bar Escape for handling the rougher roads around here and riding dirt roads in the national forest.
It's got a little more aggressive of a stance than normal hybrids, so not as bad on longer rides but still not perfect.
Now has Ergon GP-3s and a second bottle cage, but I love this pic, so.

>>941865
I've got a terk 1400 and it's a pretty awesome bike, so I'd say you did well. I overpaid, $250 but back in 2005. I'm sure I could have haggled him but I didn't know what prices were like back then. I got my money's worth, in any event. it took a surprising amount of abuse, I'd never had an alu bike before but I rode it like I was still a messenger on steel, no problem.
>>941880
Looking through Kona and Soma. Now I'm thinking a cyclocross frame with straight bars is closer suited to what I'm going for. My dad has an old Specialized Stumpjumper (see pic, looks like that) and I'm sort of trying to emulate that style of mountain bike.
I doubt I could buy something new like that without cheap plastic parts (shifter and whatnot) that bend or snap from a fall. I want a no-bullshit, solid bike for commute, light trails, goofing around and wheelies. My dad has been riding that Stumpjumper around since the 80's with original parts. Never fails.
>>941897
Mine works pretty well. Very expensive on my narrow budget though, the only reason I have it is that I won $250 for liking my LBS's facebook page, and so I wasn't so careful with my budget as I normally am on that sort of thing.
Good trunk though, it's not huge but it's got drop down panniers that are great for holding extra clothing on those cold-in-the-morning-warm-in-the-afternoon rides in springs or autumn, and enough room in the trunk proper to carry my basic tools and EDC.
>>941907
maybe buy a stumpjumper, but 2015?
>>941910
That's what a reasonable person would do but I'm too picky, plus I'm sticking with 26" for availability and I really want a frame that looks like the old Stumpjumper. I found a decent looking one on CL I'll bookmark for later. I might just have to build it over time because I don't have the money for a $1000-$2000 bike in one purchase.
>>941907
Just get a hybrid, something like the Vitus Dee 29.
>>941830
First off get a better photo so we can really went into this bike. Painting over the headset cup wasn't your finest hour but it can be easily fixed. Get it into a local bike shop and tell them you want the lower cup pressed out so you can get the paint off. Then have them press it back in. And for that matter your frame looks like it's out of the 1980's, so that splash tape is fine. Also consider installing a blank hood on the other side of the handlebar so you can use that hand position effectively. Since you've got an older style of lever, you'll either want to dig it's brother out of the back of the closet if you still have it, or drop by your local bike co-op to get a similar style. Hell, I'd just put the rear brake back on. It's a good tertiary in case your chain falls off and the front brake doesn't work for some reason.

Any braking surface wears down after enough use, discs and rims yes. Rotors are cheap, $20+. It depends on the usage, you can check visually just by seeing how much it has worn down. Some rims have wear marks to tell more exactly. You can rebuild the wheels on the same hubs or just buy a new wheelset. This is an advantage of discs to just replace the rotor.
>>941877
Gold frame owner here, lolno it's a cheap alu frame. I don't know the stainless market much, but I can tell you the adjective "affordable" doesn't go with it. I'd just stick with chromo/alu if you're on a budget.

>>942115
When cracks do form due to worn down rims, the cracks run in the same direction as the rim
You can tell that your rim braking surface is getting worn when it becomes concave.
Replacing wheels/rims due to worn out brake tracks is a fact of high-milage and wet weather riding, but keeping the brakes and rims clean prevents accelerated wear.

I'm guessing he locked the rear wheel inside the rear triangle, a.k.a. the Sheldon method. Sheldon thought that it was safe because who the hell would take the time to cut through tire and wheel, but he underestimated the persistence of tweakers.
>>942304
If you lock inside the triangle you also have to cut the frame, dumbass. That's why it's safe; you can cut it out, but it'll ruin the frame and you can't sell it on.

He means locking around the tyre and rim, inside the rear triangle (but not around the frame tubes). That way the only way to get the bike would be to squash the wheel enough to fit through the rear triangle, cut the lock, or the most logical and easiest option of cutting the wheel.
Only a retard would lock a bike worth stealing in that way, you could have it in under a minute with a hobby hacksaw.

The Respect isn't a waste; it's still good for shitting around on in your local area. Enjoy it!
>>942341
Can it not go any larger than the stock 44t? That's pretty dumb if so, with the 16t in the back that's going to be slow as shit. With a 130mm hub width you can't just slap a BMX wheel in there with a 9t driver either. Seems like the only option is to build up a new wheel with a road bike hub and convert that to single speed, not sure how low you could go with that though.
>>942341
Can't I just get a new crank?
>>942355
Most bmx spacing is 120mm and have longer axels for pegs so you can space them out to get the chain in line
>>942369
They're 110mm. It might be doable depending on the specific hub but most are going to be fairly tight. Pegs don't take up anywhere near 10mm, probably less than 5mm, so there's no point making axles much longer than they need to be. Then if you want to get the chainline correct you're probably only going to want to space the NDS which is going to require an even longer axle. Then finally you have to make sure you get the offset correct when choosing spoke lengths.
>>942370
on dan's comp there are a fuckload of 120MM hubs for BMX bikes
for both left hand and right hand drive
>>942300
The downtube and toptube look pretty fucked on that blue bike
>>942370
you shim from the NDS to get your chainline lined up, its real easy to line up a chainline
the dual pivot brake compensates for the off centerness by rotating on it's single mounting point
only thing weird is its going to look funky from the back since your wheels are 10mm offset from inline
idk why its so hard to comprehend am i just god tier at bikes or something?
>>942355
>Can it not go any larger than the stock 44t?
Some other thread about mini velos had a closer pic but it was pretty obvious; the stock chainring already comes very close to the chainstay. I've never owned one of those Respect bikes, so maybe I'm incorrect. Whoever owns it would need to weigh in.
>>942403
You would just have the wheel dished you numpty. And yeah, even if the axle is for 110mm just get a longer axle and set it up on that.

That saddle looks like a bag of suck. If you wanna be thorough replace all the housing and cabling. I wouldn't bet my life on a 20 year old brake cable. Servicing the bottom bracket can also save you a lot of heartache when it inevitably starts to act up.
[spoiler]>>942399
Their website is a load of shit and I can't few the specs tab for any of the hubs, does it say the width there? I don't get why they'd change the width, I haven't been into BMX in a while but when I was the width was always the same and I can't find anything saying it has ever been 120mm.
>>942403
>idk why its so hard to comprehend
I understand it, that's why I mentioned spacing the NDS in my post. The issue is not the brake or even what it will look like but rather the clearance between the frame and tyre, if the axle is even long enough to space the hub out.
>>942426
> just get a longer axle
Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt that's a thing. Most cassette hubs have proprietary axles (freewheel hubs aren't worth bothering with as they don't go small enough and the bike already has one) so you even if you can get a replacement axle the chances of them making such an unnecessarily long one are slim.
I'm not saying it's completely impossible, but no matter what it's going to be a massive pain in the arse and personally I'd rather just buy a different frame.

>>942487
Few things: fixed gear bikes do not have frewheel cassette hubs, they have threaded hubs for cogs, a single speed fixie has a cog shaped fat version of a rachetting mechanism you replace the cog with
So no, it doesn't have after hub.
2, the hollow axles absolutely thread out on bmxbikes they break them all of the time when they jump ofstair cases and do vert
10mm won't cause frame clearance issues in a mini velo with 130mm rear spacing.
You sound like one of those kids that works part time at a bike shop who will say anything to sell a new bike on commission since you're not technically inclined
Also as an aside, performance bike warranty covers respect bicycles.
Bikes direct Mercier is hi-ten, has vertical dropouts non removable derail hanger and a threaded headset
So your frame "upgrade" to fit a 20" bmx wheel downgrade is not only nonsensical it's also a worse version made even shittier
And you reasoning for doing this is to keep the stock removable chain ring on the original bike to get a steeper gear ratio
>>942586
> fixed gear bikes do not have frewheel cassette hubs
That particular mini velo has a thread on freewheel and a fixed cog on the other side, it's a flip flop hub.
>the hollow axles absolutely thread out on bmxbikes
You talking about the kind of axle where bolts thread into the axle instead of nuts? That would be the best choice as you can just get longer bolts, but then it becomes a pain getting the wheel into the frame as you have to line it and the spacers up.
>10mm won't cause frame clearance issues in a mini velo with 130mm rear spacing.
You can't say that for sure. The makers of that frame were already dumb enough to not allow clearance for a larger chainring, I wouldn't be surprised if the tyre clearance is tight too (it looks like it in the photo).
>You sound like one of those kids that works part time at a bike shop who will say anything to sell a new bike on commission since you're not technically inclined
What the fuck are you even talking about? I'm not trying to sell the guy shit, he's already made the stupid decision to buy a crap mini velo.
>Bikes direct Mercier
>your frame "upgrade"
Not me brah. I said personally I'd rather buy a different frame than ghetto rig a different wheel into that one to get a decent gear ratio (i.e. I wouldn't buy that frame in the first place, I'm not suggesting he should go buy another one and waste even more money). The guy that owns it can do whatever the fuck he wants but it consists of three options:
1. Ride slowly
2. Swap out the wheel, a huge pain in the arse
3. Buy a new frame
>keep the stock removable chain ring
It doesn't matter if you replace it, it can't be any larger than what's on there.

You seem confused a flip flop hub doesn't mean that one side is free and one is fixed
You can thread a 16t cog and lock ring on one side and a 17t cog on the other or w/e ratio you want
This bike replaced a cog with a thread on freewheel unit
It's not the default
It merely means 2 thread boses
You assume it has a free coaster on it like those found on bmx bikes or like that found on a road bike prior to adding a cassette.
But it's not the freewheel portion is 100% removable
>>942614
>You seem confused a flip flop hub doesn't mean that one side is free and one is fixed
I never said it was, but that's the way the hub on that bike is configured. It has a 16t freewheel on one side and a 16t fixed cog on the other.
>You can thread a 16t cog and lock ring on one side and a 17t cog on the other or w/e ratio you want
The lowest you can go is like 13t or 14t, barely any better than the 16t that is on it.
>It's not the default
Yes it fucking is. Go and have a look at the spec page for the bike in question.
>You assume it has a free coaster on it like those found on bmx bikes
No, learn to fucking read. One of the solutions I suggested was to replace the hub with a BMX one with a smaller driver, why would I suggest that if I thought it already had one?
Also a free coaster is a hub that allows you to fakie without needing to pedal backwards, so don't act like you know what the hell you're talking about.
>But it's not the freewheel portion is 100% removable
As above it doesn't matter, unless someone's magically invented a freewheel smaller than 13t.

Replace the chainring.
A free coaster takes a cog....the fixed gear bikes on the web ship with track style hubs there is no mechanism in it that ratchets
I'm glad you think "schooling" me in a bmx term thinks it means anything but it doesn't

Can you not read? It already has a 44t and apparently doesn't have the clearance for anything larger.

There may be some that do but all the freecoasters I've seen have a solid driver. You do know what a freecoaster is, right? It's not the same as a freehub, which is what most BMXs, mountain bikes, and road bikes have these days.

"Hybrid bicycles blend characteristics from more specialized road bikes, touring bikes and mountain bikes.[1] The resulting "hybrid" is a general-purpose bike that can tolerate a wide range of riding conditions and applications. Their stability, comfort and ease of use make them popular with novice cyclists, casual riders, commuters, and children.
Hybrids typically borrow the flat, straight handlebars and upright seating posture of a mountain bike, which many beginning bicyclists find comfortable and intuitive. Hybrids also employ the lighter weight, thinner wheels and smooth tires of road bikes, allowing for greater speed and less exertion when riding on the road. Hybrid bikes often have places to mount racks and bags for transporting belongings, much like a touring bike."
It's a hybrid and you're a novice, a casual and a man-child.

>>943237
I know it's a hybrid, it's even in the name. It's a road bike in the sense that it is designed to be ridden on the road as opposed to being an off road bike like the others I own.
It has more in common with a typical drop bar road bike than a mountain bike (a touring bike is still a road bike and there's not much difference), if it had drop bars then there'd really be no difference at all (except for the brakes, but then there are disc brake road bikes these days). Have you not heard the term "flat bar road bike" before?
>>943144
Thanx!
Those rims are Rigida DP 18 with Campagnolo hubs
>>943267
>if it had drop bars then there'd really be no difference at all
>being this ignorant
They both have wheels. That's where the similarities end.
The frame has to be specifically designed for flat- or drop bar, and converting from one to the other is not possible unless the frame was way, way off in size and geo to begin with.
Please stop refering to a hybrid as a road bike, even if you inted do use it on the road. 'Road bike' has a well established and very specific meaning. A TT bike is not a 'road bike' in common parlance, a touring/audax bike is not a 'road bike' in common parlance, a hipster sleigh is not a 'road bike' and your hybrid definitely isn't one.
Please re-read the UCI brochure.
>>943275
The geometry is very similar to a compact road bike, the riding position with the flat bars is similar to the flats on a drop bar.
If one didn't wish to use the drop portion of the bars on a more typical road bike and swapped them to a flat bar they'd then end up with a flat bar road bike, just like what I have. If you would also consider such a thing a hybrid then that's fine, I'm not going to argue against that, but in my eyes there are some differences.
It's a road bike in the sense that it's not an off road bike, you can't argue against that. I was using the term in comparison to my other bikes which were not primarily designed for riding on roads.

>The geometry is very similar to a compact road bike
Oh, shove it. The Boardman road bike geo is completely different from the hybrid.
The road bike has much shorter chainstay, top tube and headtube. It also has a longer seat tube, stem, fork rake and BB drop.
Every single aspect of the geometry is different.
A hybrid is not a road bike. That you mean to use it on the road doesn't mean it's a road bike. Pic related is. Yours is a hybrid.
>>943282
Head tube angle is near enough the same, same with the seat tube angle, chainstay length is only 10mm longer, fork rake is only 2mm less, bottom bracket drop is 3mm less, stem length is the same.
The biggest difference is the top tube at 35mm longer (going from centre of the top of the headtube to centre of the seat tube measured in a level horizontal line), that's going to be down to the Road Comp having a slacker HA than SA and longer headtube, the top tube length gets shorter the higher up it is measured where as the Hybrid Comp's HA and SA are identical so the length stays constant.
So, overall they are fairly similar. In fact I'd imagine that if I looked around for long enough I could find a drop bar road bike with even closer if not identical geometry.
