Sold my old commuter to a friend of a friend and got this as a replacement.
But since its winter, I have to attach all this extra stuff to it. New pedals are in the mail and I need a different stem.

Although finding parts is hell, I always liked old steel frame bikes more than new modern ones...

I'm going to order pic related for it as soon as it becomes available here. I have also considered putting solid fenders on it in the summer when I can fit more slick tires to it. The current fenders are just something I had laying around.

Isn't it hard getting used to ride with toe overlap when riding fixed?
Every time i get into a PYBT and post my piece of shit, the thread soon dies. Let's hope it's not the case with this one.
Please rate and/or comment, i'm an insecure faggot blah blah blah. Yes, frame is a generic aluminium one, but it was great weight/quality/price.

I actually went for a steel framed bike because I fell for the steel is reel meme, but it was well worth it.

>>927789
Ay, que cuicors.
Swapped my fork. It's not actually a Tora but rather a Suntour that the previous owner stickered up and I haven't got around to peeling them off. It's actually alright, no external adjustments but it works well as is and it's a lot stiffer than what I had.
>>927793
how exactly did you "create" that bike and why are you living in Detroit, Michigan?
>>927794
>those arent really track frames either
While I agree with you on that, sloping top tubes on track bikes doesn't make it not a track bike.
Sloping tt are used from time to time by pros for a smaller, more compact geometry (mostly in smaller frames). Some track frames have sloping top tubes as a result of an aggressive seat tube angle, especially seen in Japanese track bikes.

>Sloping tt are used from time to time by pros for a smaller, more compact geometry (mostly in smaller frames). Some track frames have sloping top tubes as a result of an aggressive seat tube angle, especially seen in Japanese track bikes.
This doesn't even make sense.
The answer is because horizontal top looks look old fashioned.
Currently the fastest track bikes have horizontal top tubes for aerodynamics. There was a small insignificant argument that a compact geometry could make a bike stiffer, but stiffness really isn't a problem with modern materials.
>>927804
folded.
>>927761
I can imaging it is. Guess it's also a problem during larger turns?
Anyways, I always loved those tight geo frames, but never got one myself due to the toe overlap.

I have had 0 issues with my Eggbeaters since I purchased them. Now I have 4 pairs of crankbro's pedals because I do not want to have a pair of shoes per each bike. Each purchased with 20%-25% off from Nashbar resulting in near $50 per pair which I could be mistaken, but that seems like a great price.
I am also a consultant and sometimes bike to businesses; showing up with clankers would draw more attention and look less formal than the shoes I currently have.

I do not feel a major difference in these wheelsets with tires/tubes/rotors removed and on the bike it's hard to compare. One is aluminum frame with steel fork and 32mm tires, the other is full carbon with 25mm tires.
If it helps, I would gladly buy this wheelset again for $150~ especially since my "hand built" Vuelta cx wheels arrived out of round and needing to be trued before riding and cost 2-3x as much.

Giant TCR with mostly SRAM Red. Left lever is Force. NDS crank arm is Rival Stages. Ciamillo brakes. Unbranded carbon hoops. Has been a very pleasant racing companion. Will eventually go 11spd/aero frame but in no rush.
Eye sore TT Bike. Got the module as seen with no wheels for $400 shipped off the internet. Team loaned me the race tubulars. Internal routing for the rear derailleur is shot so the full length housing is zip tied to the frame and then run the length of the downtube using duct tape and a MTB downtube guard adhesive. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a bike I'll only race a few times out of the year, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. Mostly SRAM Rival. Uberhund one piece aerobars. Too expansive to change all my shifters and brakes. Besides, flat bars aren't that bad. It isn't a race bike anyway. It doesn't really matter if I become more aero or not. It has 38c tires and isn't the lightest bike (12 kg). If I really want to go fast, I'd infest in a road bike but I'm not really into racing so this is good enough.

yeah, those are a rig to get a forward hand-position. they're actually the hood/bar clamps minus the levers that came stock with the bike--so, standard drop-bar brakes. I used inner-tube rubber to jam into the gaps that the levers used to be in and then wrapped the whole thing with more rubber for a uniform surface. better thickness that way, too.
Fenders are VO. these are polished alu, but I'd go for chrome if I was gonna buy again for a more durable finish. my fork clearance was basically nothing, so there was another elaborate rig to install the front one.
>doesn't putting all your cargo on the front rack mess up the handling?
I personally hate having a lot of weight aft of me for city riding. sure it's more stable at speed, but in the city I'm never at speed for any appreciable amount of time. I'm much more frequently at a light, loading, or mounting/dismounting. all that weight aft creates leverage and makes your headset want to jackknife. with cargo directly under the pivot of the headset that you're holding via the bar, it's just not an issue. I do usually load up the rear anyway with 20lbs of dog food (current pic), just not on that trip. balancing a load front and rear works well, but if it's just one I prefer front.
you're potentially right about twitchy steering, though. But this is mitigated with a wheel stabilizer, you can kinda see it in the pic. (once again, I had to use an elaborate rig to install it due to frame clearance. lotsa rigs on this bike.) the stabilizer works great. you can feel a difference when she's loaded but there's no twitch, the ride remains really even.
I installed the baskets as low as I could for favorable center-of-gravity, so hopefully that helps a bit, too. may experiment with placement in the future.

Looking awesome.
I think you could make this bike look really good with a quill stem.
It would be a lot of work. I'd ride it for months as is, get the fit exactly right (try different stems), then go quill
When going quill, I'd get a new drop bar. Something without the ergo bend.
This is just to make the bike 100% internet bike porn. I don't think you need to do it, but it would take it to the next level.
Also it looks a little bit like your brake levers are up too high. Consider a shorter stem if you feel like it's hard to reach them or the drops
Great bike. I'm nit-picking . It looks awesome.

Not him, but there's absolutely no reason to buy aluminum cages. They do actually break. I'd seen more broken and bent aluminum cages than plastic cages, and if you desperately want a metal cage you can get stainless. Neither marks up your bottles with black stains, both of them are more durable. Metal cages have the small advantage of being able to tighten or loosen them, but of course this fatigues the metal.
I have been riding a few times this winter, and I wanted to go faster.
I told the people at my bike shop that I only ride on flat, paved paths, so they recommended aero wheels as the best performance upgrade for my bike.

At 33 seconds. You can even try it yourself. They will fail at the plastic bits for the key or the joints

Took it out after a tuneup for selling, but the ride makes me want to keep it.
>>929679
looks like she'll really go.
out of idle curiosity, where are you and how much are you going to list the bike for? just trying to get an idea of value.
you should probably sort out that QR lever, too.
>>929662
its not a tape measure velcroed to the bike, jesus, its a strip of elastic that I got from walmart and cut, then sewed and superglued a clasp to
>>929655
>has a Cetma
>suggests a Wald instead
>>929679
>Selling a Dura-ace TCR ever
You're about to dun goof anon, pls don't.
Kind of an old picture, but I took her in for a tuneup and she rides like butter now. Really hype to take her out tomorrow afternoon. It's supposed to be almost 80 degrees here in Dallas.
>>929814
looks pretty comfy anon.
>>929712
$850 CAD but but everyone in Saint John, NB wants to haggle it to $400. I just might keep it anyway. I was going to use this Jake The Snake for more urban crap-road riding.
>>929793
Only the crank is Dura-Ace, the rest is 105/Tiagra
>>929742
Oh, it's a fucking CETMA? From the trash fitment I thought it was a bargain-bin rack. Last time I looked at their racks was three of four years ago, before they redesigned. And no I'm not trying to be mean about the looks. If it works well, I guess, don't sweat it too much. My favorite bikes are often mistaken for garbage too, and I have a lot of fun just laughing it off.
bought it last night and took it out for a ride through the forest today. Very comfortable and im instantly a few kph faster through some magical powers
>>930044
That red bottle cage bothers more than it should.
Still, would ride/10
I just need for the snow and ice to lay the fuck off.
>>930128
yes its from my previous ride, but I couldnt get myself to buy a different one simply because of the way it looked.

Awesome bike. Needs shimergo to be god tier though.
Perfect weather today
>>930463
Are you bikepacking on tour?
Anons here told me it was worth it to throw some cash into reviving my old mtb instead of purchasing a new bike. New crankset and rear wheel and it rides really nicely. It feels more alive now and the wheel has much less friction. Gonna replace the bb soon, developed some play. Picture is shit but a better picture will be posted when i complete the overhaul. Gonna get rid of the rust and paint over it, plus new brakes next week.
>tfw i repainted and redecalled her myself and it looked like this but after 3000km i've beaten the paintjob to ratshit all over again
>>930536
been meaning to do this too, did you clear coat it in the end?
>>930545
matte enamel model paint applied with a brush, then clearcoated with gloss spray. I just ride her in shit weather constantly and get drunk and abuse her
I'm sorry baby

What bike is this? Is it an older madone?
>>930854
>Is it an older madone?
lolno
it's some kind of Crossrip
Just picked up this 1972 Raleigh Super Course off c-list. Everything is original. Paint has a few chips. Deciding between Campy Nuovo Record, Suntour Cyclone or Shimano arabesque
>>930944
A super course isn't that great of a frame.
I kind of want that Huret Luxe though. Also good luck converting the hanger to campagnolo.
>>930950
It's a mid level raleigh but it was cheap and it was my size. I've never seen a derailleur like the Luxe. Couldn't I just get a Campy hanger?
Drive (nothing fancy. Bikes are so much fun to tinker on. Used to do it all the time back in my BMX days. Glad to be doing it again.

Cómprate caramayolas decentes, hueón flaite.
I'm having to much fun with this.
>>931166
Way why? I actually like it
>>931320
Splash is correct and all, but the white tape makes me think it's damaged and you're too much of a bum to fix it.
Thickslicks, however, have no place on a real bike. Those are for hipster trash only. Grand Prix Classic or bust on that beauty.
>>931351
>Grand Prix Classic
Not that guy, but have you ridden those tires much - I'd like to know if they ride more like a GP4000 or a Grand Sport
>>931367
Not ridden, but Conti says they're a GP4000s (← s as in Black Chili) but with pretty side wall and older tread graphics. Same high end tyre but retro look.
>>931351
I actually swapped the wheels just to see what it would look like. Thick slick on the Miele for commuting and messing around.
>>931320
not him, but
(A) the busy pattern on splash tape clashes with the clean quality of all but the most sticker-bombed frames. that's true of all splash tape. but further, the solid colors and simple graphics on Cannondales are even cleaner than usual.
(B) your frame is blue. Red doesn't go with a single other thing on that bike. it clashes like crazy. so that's a double penalty.
cool bikes, though.
>>931211
That thing sure does look like a heapton of fun. Nice fork.
>>931194

>>931550
Bacon, that bike ain't yours!
Second year in a row I climbed it over spring break
This year I was in worse shape, but I rode a section I had to push last year
>>931211
I almost got a boner.
I'd really like to try having a light and rigid 29er. I would also use that with faster tires on pavement commuting and curb hopping just for the lulz.
The weather in Boston has been so nice this week. Started commuting to work by bike again.

>>931698
everyone in that pic is chubby- do you live in texas?
>>931698
What's the building behind you? I love brutalist concrete structures.
Who here joined the titanium club? Sorta feels like a 10mm of rear suspension in my hardtail in the forest trails. Might need newer and better wheels. Thinking of carbon Enves.

Why is this board under Japanese Culture?
>>931737
>tires fuck'n saturated with wet sand
>tire and wheel completely buried around contact point
it's your free-time and you can do what the fuck you want with it but you might have a better time on a fatbike if you're going to be doing that
>>931707
Nice checkerboard racing paint. Mines a more stealth style approach, may I ask why you didn't go for the 1x11? My hardtail really feels like my old epic, yet better at everything including climbing whole standing and jumps/drops. Hasn't washed out at all, but I have a stiff fork setup. Really need a dropper post firstly. The Ti frame really feels immensely less harsh as compared to Alu.
>>931823
>Why is this board under Japanese Culture?
in the early days, the only anons that would come to /n/ would come to discuss bullet trains.
still icy where you are? how are those tires treating you and what model?
>>931886
I see...
Yes, there's still ice here in Finland, although it's slowly starting to melt here in the south. These have been wonderful tyres. They feel safe, almost like riding in the summer and they roll surprisingly well. They're Suomi Tyres WXC´R 312, so they're basically rebranded Nokians made here in Finland. After Nokian shut down their bicycle tyre factory, the former employees started a new company and now make the same tyres as before but with a different name.
>>931730
Good. Don't come back.
well, so the thread doesnt die, ill post mine.
i want to eventually have a more modern trackbike, i move all around a BIG city (sometimes over 40km), and a i want to travel to other city sometime soon. anny comments/advices?
>>932069
yeah, buy a bigger frame next time
I'm almost finished with this 90s Mongoose Hilltopper (before they sold out to Pacific). All it really needs is new pedals at this point.
I thought rigid 90s mountain bikes were just a meme, but for the $60 investment I am very pleasantly surprised. It was totally worth trying out and should serve me many muddy trips.
>>931740
I have nothing against DT shifters (almost all of bikes have them), but those look like barcons that have been adapted to be DT. If that's true just. . . wat?
>>932095
>I'm missing the bar end part to
That makes a lot more sense. I guess it isn't any more troll than a bike I have. I crashed and broke the shifting on my STI, so I just threw on some DT and left on the brifters for braking.
>>932082

you'll have to convert your height into Clapistan units for the chart I have.
